Making a fence from corrugated board with your own hands. Installing a corrugated fence: instructions and tips. Decorative end strip

Any private plot The land needs to be fenced. Sometimes it performs an exclusively decorative function, but more often it is installed for safety. country house or cottages. It also allows you to close from prying eyes and adds comfort to the site. There are a large number of building materials, but corrugated board is the best combination of price and quality. Often, the price of installing fences from corrugated board is quite high, and scares off many. The way out will be its installation with your own hands, which is not so difficult.

Which decking to choose

In total, there are several varieties of corrugated board, consider the main ones that will affect the performance of the fence and its appearance.

Decking with polymer coated . Its coating is a polyester composition, which ensures the reliability and durability of the metal. Sheets with this coating have the highest anti-corrosion characteristics. In addition, they are resistant to negative influences. environment, which allows you to extend their service life, without additional care, up to fifty years.

It has a large color gamut, which is very important for harmonious combination with the general design of buildings on the site. The polymer coating can be on one or both sides (the second option will be much more expensive). It is widely used as roofing material, as well as for external cladding of hangars and industrial facilities.

Galvanized corrugated board. Its main advantage is its low price. This is due to the fact that inexpensive raw materials are used for manufacturing. But it has low impact resistance external factors. In addition, it is not recommended to plant plants next to it, which in sunny days may burn out from overheating. Most often, galvanized corrugated board is used for temporary fencing of construction sites.

In addition, it is divided according to the profile height and sheet thickness into: roofing, load-bearing and fence (wall).

How to calculate corrugated board for a fence

In order not to buy more material in the future, it is necessary to initially calculate everything accurately. This will reduce the time of the construction process and financial costs. It is necessary to take into account not only the sheets of corrugated board, but also the supporting pillars, transverse logs, fasteners and the amount of cement-sand mortar for pouring the support. In addition, any fence is required to be equipped with a gate and a gate.

Usually, corrugated board with a wave height of 10-20 mm with a polymer coating or galvanized is used for fencing.

For supporting pillars, a square profile pipe is used. Its cross section directly depends on the height of the future fence.

Calculation scheme

Decking is durable material, fences from it can reach 8 meters in height. The number of lags on which profiled sheets will be attached may be different, but most often there are two of them. You will also need self-tapping screws for metal and riveting for joints.

Calculating the total number of supports is easy. To do this, we divide the total length along the perimeter by the distance between the supports, and add 3 more columns to the result obtained (one column per gate and gate, and one per turn).

Decking is calculated based on the working width of the sheets. We divide the total footage of the perimeter of the future fence by the working width, so we get the required number of sheets. But for the stock, it is advisable to buy 1-2 sheets more.

Calculating the length of the lag is also simple. To do this, the total length of the entire perimeter is multiplied by two, the required footage for the manufacture of gates and wickets is added to the resulting figure. And if the total number of profiled sheets is already known, then we multiply their total length by 2 and also add the required length of pipes for the manufacture of gates and gates.

The dimensions of the corrugated board for the fence can be made to your specifications. individual order. But on average, its width is 100-130 cm, and its height is 180-200 cm.

Necessary materials and tools

Pillars. by the most the best option for the supporting pillars there will be a metal profile pipe, which has a square or rectangular section of 4x6 or 6x6 cm and a wall thickness of 2 mm. To give the structure rigidity and flexibility, the distance between the supports should be 2-2.5 m.

It will allow the fence to withstand heavy snow, strong winds and not break. The length of the posts will depend on the size of the corrugated sheet, as well as on the characteristics of the soil. AT clay soil the pillars are deepened by 80-90 cm, if the soil is sandy or high groundwater is present, then the minimum depth for the supports is 100-120 cm.

lags. For them, a profile rectangular or square pipe is also used, but with a smaller cross section. It will be enough 4x2 cm with a wall thickness of 2.5 mm.

Professional sheets. For mounting a fence made of corrugated board, profiled sheets with a comb height of 2 cm and a thickness of 0.5 mm are best suited.

fasteners. For fastening, it is advisable to choose self-tapping screws for corrugated board (they have EPDM - gaskets that seal the fasteners) or special rivets. This is due to the fact that ordinary self-tapping screws can cause metal corrosion.

Tools

Tools for building a fence from corrugated board with your own hands will depend on the characteristics of the soil. On light sandy soils, you can get by with a simple hand drill and a sledgehammer, and on heavy clay and stony soils, you will need a gasoline hole drill.

But in any case, there is a list of basic tools:

Technology for installing a fence from corrugated board

Pole installation

Before installation, all poles must be of the required size. Their length is calculated from the height of the fence and the depth of the underground part of the column, which is approximately 30% of the height of the above-ground part of the structure.

First, marks are set in places where holes for supports will be drilled. To do this, you need a tape measure or cord, the length of which is equal to the distance between the posts.

As soon as everything is marked, drilling of wells begins with the help of a drill. In the event that work is progressing quickly, they can be drilled all at once. But if the holes are dug manually and slowly, it is better to install several posts in them and cement them.

The corner supports of one row are mounted first and fixed with wooden wedges. Between them, along the top, a cord is pulled in strictly horizontal position. If there is a bias, then the height of the pillars can be adjusted by pouring soil into the wells or, on the contrary, digging it out. After everything is aligned, intermediate posts are placed focusing on the stretched cord and are also fixed with wooden wedges. Further, stone, crushed stone, crushed brick or large fractions of gravel are poured into the pits to the supporting pillars and carefully compacted. Sand is poured on top and spilled with water.

The cement mortar is diluted in small volumes, designed for 5-6 wells. Therefore, it is not necessary to use an electric concrete mixer, it is quite possible to get by with a small capacity. For its preparation, the proportion is used: 1 part of cement, 4 parts of sand and 4 parts of water and gravel.

For additional strength of the support posts, reinforcement 15 cm long is welded onto each of them. They should be placed on the underground part across the pole and crosswise with respect to each other.

Installation of transverse logs

The transverse logs are attached to the finished racks using electric welding. The number of rows depends on the height of the fence. If it is up to 2 meters, then two are enough, and if it is higher, then the log must be made in 3 rows.

Tip: it is important to observe the distance from the lag to the edges of the profiled sheet, which should be strictly 20cm.

When all the logs are welded, they are thoroughly cleaned with a metal brush, after which everything is covered with paint.

Installation of corrugated board

Do-it-yourself installation of corrugated board is a simple process. It is attached to the lags using self-tapping screws with plastic or rubber washers. There is no need for a large number of fasteners, it is enough to fix the sheet along the edges and in the center.

Each sheet is attached only after being aligned horizontally and vertically, which will prevent the formation of cracks. First, the first sheet is mounted, the second one is installed on it so that it lays down, overlapping, closing one wave.

Often, when at the corner you have to cut it along required size. This is done with metal shears without the use of a grinder and abrasive tools.

The final stage of installation of a corrugated fence is to close the upper part of the support posts to protect them from precipitation and, as a result, from corrosion.

Tip: if scratches appear on the sheets during the work, they should be immediately painted over with spray paint. To give the fence greater aesthetics, the supporting pillars can be lined with stone or brick.

In conclusion, it is worth adding that the edges of the profiled sheet are quite sharp and can injure the skin. Therefore, before you start making a fence from corrugated board, take care of protecting your hands.

Thus, the process of erecting a fence is not very complicated and even a non-professional can do it. With diligence and diligence, you can save the family budget.

The fencing of a summer cottage, the construction of a fence is one of the first tasks on the list that needs to be solved by a summer resident who is engaged in arranging his site. To hide the area from prying eyes, you can make a practical fence from corrugated board with your own hands. In this article, we will look at how to build this fence, paying close attention to the various nuances and secrets of installation.

A fence made of this material can be quickly installed - the desired line along the perimeter is determined, pillars, cross posts are installed, and then profiled sheets are attached. Behind such a fence, the owners feel comfortable - it protects from prying eyes, being quite strong.

The color of the fence can go well with the decoration of the house, enliven the landscape. A profiled sheet fence is not a dull and faceless structure, even in the very simple version he pleases the eye

When buying profiled sheets, be sure to pay attention to the price - you should not save here. Low price speaks of the same quality - the poor quality of rolled products, the polymer layer, galvanization, or too thin metal that is not suitable for a fence.

When choosing a sheet, do not chase cheapness, the fence is not built for one year. C8 corrugated board is great for both roofing and fence construction

Pay attention to the requirements for the distance from the fence to the buildings:

To install a fence from a profiled sheet, you will need the following materials:

  • corrugated board + pipes for support pillars and pipes for logs;
  • crushed stone + cement + sand;
  • rope, primer, level;
  • welding machine + container for cement mortar;
  • drill + drill;
  • riveter + rivets or self-tapping screws for metal.

Pillars can also be used asbestos-cement or wooden. If you opted for wooden poles, treat them with an antiseptic before starting work. The part that will be buried must be especially strong - it can be treated with a blowtorch, and then with a bituminous primer.

Step-by-step analysis of the stages of construction

At the first stage, it is necessary to make an accurate markup - to determine where the gate, the gate will be located, to outline the places for the pillars. Poles are installed at a distance of no more than three meters from each other. Determine the desired height of the perimeter fence to calculate the amount of material needed.

Stage # 2 - installation of support pillars

These can be pipes with a square (not less than 50/50 mm) or a round section (not less than 76 mm). Top holes can be brewed so that moisture does not get in.

Scheme of installation of supports for a fence made of corrugated board. Metal pipes are used as supports; crushed stone can be poured into the bottom of the pits or sand cushion. Installation on two lags.

Next, you need to dig holes for pillars 1-1.5 m deep, 150 mm wide. You can use a hand drill. The deepening of the underground part of the supports depends on the height of the fence, the higher the fence is planned, the deeper the supports need to be dug.

Scheme of installing a fence made of corrugated board in three logs. Used as supporting pillars and lag profile pipes

The posts must be well reinforced, because such a fence is subject to the force of the wind. With poor reinforcement of the supports, the fence, a large area of which is exposed to wind, may partially tip over. The bottom of the pits for pillars is covered with medium fraction gravel (a layer of about 150-200 mm), then a pillar is installed, cement mortar is poured.

Note! To install the pillars, you need to use a plumb line, they must be installed strictly vertically. For good fixation of the supports, they can be strengthened by welding on both sides metal rods and bury them in the ground. After the supports are filled with mortar, they must be left for three days to completely cure the concrete.

When the foundation hardens, we proceed to install the lag - a steel transverse profile is mounted to attach a profiled sheet to it. A profiled pipe (section 40/25 mm) is suitable for a log. The number of lags in each section depends on the height of the fence. At a height of 1.7 m, two lags are enough, at a height of 1.7 - 2 m and above, three lags will be required - above, below and in the middle. The upper and lower logs are installed at a distance of 4 cm from the top and from the edge of the earth. Electric welding for their fastening is the most reliable way fixation. To protect against rust, logs and poles are coated with a special primer after installation. It is better to do it on this stage, since after installing the sheets it will be very inconvenient to work with a primer.

The installation of the fence depends on the type of soil. If the soil is soft, its individual sections, especially in springtime, may sag, the same will happen with poles installed in such soil. In soft soil, it is better to build a strip foundation for installing pillars. It is constructed like this - a tape box is made along the poles along the bottom. The height of the box is about 20 cm, so that it is durable, the boards are fastened with bars or wire. Then we lay a layer of waterproofing along the walls of the structure, fill it with concrete. Even if the soil near the supports is eroded, the strip foundation will give strength and stability to the fence.

We are constructing a strip foundation for a fence from a profiled sheet installed in soft ground. The box is fixed between the bars, after pouring with cement, a very strong and reliable construction will be obtained, you can not be afraid of such a fence

Stage # 3 - install the corrugated board on the logs

For fastening, we use self-tapping screws for metal (length 35 mm, step 500 mm). Docking sheets of corrugated board between themselves is overlapped.

Advice! When installing a fence made of corrugated board, use work gloves - the profiled sheet is enough sharp material there is a risk of injury.

As the saying goes, it's better to see once than hear a hundred times. We offer you to watch a video with an example of installation:

A fence made of corrugated board looks good, it is durable and practical, the material easily tolerates difficult weather conditions, sudden changes in temperature, extreme heat and cold. Therefore, do not treat such a solution as a temporary one. If the pillars that do not look particularly aesthetically pleasing are lined with brick or stone (or use a colored sheet), then the fence will look expensive and beautiful.

Alternatively, the supports can be lined with artificial or natural stone or brick - such a fence looks much more impressive and is much more durable. But, of course, this will require considerable additional costs.

The professional flooring is well combined with other materials, for example, with forging. In this version of the fence, the corrugated board closes upper part fence, you can close only the bottom or use sheets with a gap between them - you get an original attractive fence

When installing a fence made of corrugated board, scratches on the sheets are almost inevitable. They can be easily eliminated using a spray can of paint. It's better to buy a couple of cans of paint in advance suitable color. From the outside, the fence looks like a solid wall, without seams, strong and securely hiding the yard from prying eyes.

Various options for corrugated fences demonstrate the aesthetics of this material, its good compatibility with both stone and brick. It is enough to show a little imagination to create not only a practical, but also a beautiful fence.

Additional expenses for the maintenance of such a fence are not required, which cannot be said about a fence made of wood, and this is another plus in favor of installing a fence from a profiled sheet.

The desire to protect the territory of your home is a normal phenomenon among people. Before you build a house, you need to enclose your site with a fence. The higher and stronger the fence, the calmer the people behind it. In the article, we will consider the installation of a fence from corrugated board with our own hands.

Types of fences and barriers

Fences are divided by type of material and installation technology:

  1. Plastic fencing. Reliable and durable type of fence. Does not break down due to moisture.
  2. Concrete fence. Fence resistant to mechanical stress. Destroys under the influence of atmospheric phenomena.
  3. Brick fence (euro fence). Durable and reliable type of fence. Collapses at the base from impact ground water.
  4. Polycarbonate railing. Do not collapse under the influence of precipitation. Easy to mount. But not as durable as a brick or concrete fence.
  5. Picket fence. Pretty reliable and handsome type fences. It does not protect against the penetration of strangers, as it has decorative functions.
  6. Profiled fencing. One of the most popular types of fence. Easy to mount. Long service life. A wide range of color solution. Low cost of materials.

Based on the popularity among consumers, it is worthwhile to comprehensively consider a fence made of corrugated board.

Profiled sheet is a material for the construction of enclosing structures, made of galvanized sheet and coated with a thin layer of paint.

A corrugated fence is a metal or wooden frame on a concrete base, sheathed with a profiled sheet.

Advantages and disadvantages of a corrugated fence

Before purchasing materials for the construction of a fence, it is necessary to evaluate the positive and negative properties of this engineering structure.

Positive properties

  • high resistance to mechanical damage;
  • the possibility of erection on any terrain;
  • high-quality sound insulation;
  • acceptable cost of materials and work;
  • a wide range of types, sizes and colors of profiled sheet;
  • fire protection;
  • low repair costs;
  • construction speed.

Negative properties profiled sheet fence:

  • high probability of destruction under the action of wind loads;
  • high probability of corrosion of the ferrous metal frame.

Summarizing the above, we can conclude that a profiled sheet fence - good decision fencing your area.

Corrugated fence materials

Any business begins with the preparation of tools and materials. Building a fence is no exception. Empirically, an approximate list of the necessary tools was obtained:

  • tub for preparing concrete mix;
  • mason's lace;
  • welding machine and electrodes to it;
  • screwdriver;
  • angular Sander with saw blades for metal;
  • medium power electric drill;
  • drill for metal.
  • construction level;
  • shovels shovels and bayonet;
  • protective gloves.

Of the necessary materials, it is worth highlighting:

  • galvanized profile sheet - the main element of the fence;

Important! The choice of sheet parameters should be taken carefully. For areas with low and medium wind load, sheet grades C8, C10, C20 with a small corrugation size and a metal thickness of up to 0.7 mm are suitable. In places with high wind load, it is better to choose a more durable roof profile C21.

  • thin-walled metal pipe of round section with a diameter of 50 - 150 mm or profile thin-walled pipe of square section 60 × 60 - 150 × 150 mm for support pillars
  • profile metal pipe rectangular section 40×20 mm;
  • self-tapping screws for metal with a press washer 20 - 30 mm or roofing screws 20 - 30 mm;
  • metal equal-shelf corner 100 × 100 mm.
  • Portland cement M400;
  • sand, gravel, water;
  • metal primer.

Important! Construction materials are stored at the work site. Profile sheets and metal pipes are stacked on wooden blocks, the cement is covered from the rain with a film.

Installation of a fence from a professional flooring

To obtain the highest quality fence, you must strictly follow all the stages of the installation of the fence.

Breakdown of the site for the installation of the fence

Here it is necessary to proceed from the level of elevation difference in the territory of work. Consider classic version when the site is relatively flat and no further leveling action is required. Work order:

  1. Installation of beacon poles. In all corner points future fence posts are installed.
  2. Guide rope pull. A strong thin rope is stretched between the posts at a height of 200 - 300 mm from the ground. It serves as a guideline for marking holes for support pillars.
  3. Hammering wooden pegs under each hole. With a step of 2500 mm, beacon stakes are hammered. Holes for support posts will be dug along them.

Important! Installation locations are provided in advance entrance gate. Otherwise, it may be necessary to re-stake around the perimeter of the fence.

Installation of support poles

An important stage in the construction of the fence, as the supports are installed. They will have all the main load from the mass of the fence and strong wind. There are several ways to install support pillars.

Immersion of pillars into the ground with the help of mechanical action (driving into the ground). The most economical, but unreliable way. Consists of the following steps:

Important! The total depth of the drilled hole and driving is 1500 - 1800 mm. This will allow you to pass the level of soil freezing. If you hammer the pillars to a shallower depth, then their extrusion is possible.

  1. Compaction of crushed stone or broken brick in the bosom between the earth and the post. After driving the post, each hole is covered with rubble and rammed with a shovel handle or a thin log.
  2. Checking the verticality of the installed poles.

Butting of pillars. Broken brick, crushed stone and sand are needed.

  1. Drilling holes for supports. Unlike the previous method, here they are drilled to the entire depth of 1500 - 1800 mm. A conventional hand drill or a wheeled drilling rig is used.
  2. Pillar installation. It is installed in a pit and covered with a mixture of sand, gravel and broken bricks.

Important! The mixture is rammed every 200 - 250 mm. For better sealing, it is periodically spilled with water. At least two people are required to carry out the work.

  1. Checking the verticality of the mounted poles. After ramming is completed, each pole is checked by a building level.

Pillar concreting. Allows you to get fences of increased strength. It is divided into full and partial.

Full concreting:

  1. Hole drilling. Under each post, holes are drilled 50 - 70 mm larger than the support. Drilling depth 1500 - 1800 mm.
  2. Production of cement-sand mortar. As a rule, it is kneaded on the spot. The ratio of cement M400 to sand is 1 to 3. The solution should turn out to be liquid.
  3. Pit concreting. The column is installed in the drilled hole and leveled. The pit is filled with a mixture of broken bricks and rubble. Then a liquid cement-sand mortar is poured. A piece of roofing material is laid on top for waterproofing. The resulting concrete base gains strength within 5 - 7 days. After that, you can continue the installation of the fence.

Important! Poles, especially round ones, can rotate in a concrete base. To avoid this, a kosour made of a metal plate is welded to each pole from below.

Partial concreting . It looks like a way to drive poles. Only a mixture of crushed stone and sand is not rammed, but poured with a cement-sand mortar, as described above.

Installation of crossbeams (lag)

They will tie stand-alone poles in single structure, and serve for fastening the profiled sheet. The most reliable way to attach the lag to the supporting pillars is welding. Consider the main stages of installation:

  1. Marking the place of attachment and installation of the lag. For a fence up to two meters high, 2 rows of transverse crossbeams from a profiled metal pipe of rectangular section 40 × 20 mm are enough. If the height of the fence is more than 2 meters, a third row of logs is added. At a height of 150 - 200 mm from the ground, the first row of crossbeams is mounted. The second row is installed 150 - 200 mm below the top of the support posts. If it becomes necessary to install a third row of crossbeams, then they are welded strictly in the middle of the column.

Important! Welding is the most reliable way to fasten the log. It is most convenient to use a portable 220V welding machine.

  1. Coloring of the finished frame. After completion of welding work, the entire metal frame of the fence is painted with primer for metal at a time. The second layer of paint is applied to the metal of the desired color.

Important! To increase the service life of the fence, all welding seams are cleaned of slag before painting. For this, an ordinary carpenter's hammer 400 - 500 grams is suitable.

Installation of profiled sheet

It is carried out after the completion of other works. Consists of several stages:

  1. Fixing the corrugated board to metal carcass. One of the most milestones. For fastening, metal screws with a press washer 20 - 30 mm or roofing screws 20 - 30 mm are used. You can use rivets, but this is a more time consuming process. Sheets are overlapped on one wave to each other. Mounting pitch 200 - 250 mm. The main thing is to screw the screws into the "lower" part of the wave of the profiled sheet.

Self-tapping screws for corrugated board

Important! The first sheet is set according to the building level, to prevent the appearance of skew. Deviation of the first element by 1 mm from the axis will lead to a serious distortion after several tens of meters.

  1. Painting scratches and potholes. After the installation of the fence is completed, all damaged parts of the metal are painted over using a conventional paint brush 40 - 60 mm. This is done to prevent the appearance of corrosive areas on the damaged metal.
  2. Installation of additional elements. These include special visors, corners and plugs for poles.
  • peaks fasten over a fence, protect from an atmospheric precipitation;
  • corners are fastened at the junction of profiled sheets;
  • plugs are installed on the top of the poles, protect against water and snow.

Below you can view several fencing schemes that will facilitate all calculations for you, as well as allow you to correctly install a corrugated fence. To enlarge the images, simply click on them.
Attention! Despite the fact that almost everywhere in the images the depth of logging varies within 1 meter, it is strongly recommended to increase the depth to 1.5-1.8 meters, as it is written in the article.

The decision to build do-it-yourself fence from corrugated board requires certain skills and knowledge. Installation of a fence from a professional flooring requires a preliminary study of some of the nuances, it is important to understand the types of construction, draw up a work plan, select the appropriate components and materials. This overview will help you understand how to build a fence, a video at the end of the article will be useful for beginners.

Varieties of designs

A variety of landscape and aesthetic requirements determine the features of the structure:

  • Solid fences. Sheets of corrugated board cover the supports. Most often, this option is used.
  • Sectional. They are not in demand so often, they are built in the presence of stone or brick pillars. The length of the section depends on the features of the relief. Accurate calculations span lengths allow to reduce the amount of waste from profiled sheet trimming.

In addition, fences are divided into:

Fundamental. Poles are included in the design strip foundation. It increases the wind resistance of the fence. The gap under the fence is completely covered with profiled sheets, in addition, dust from the street will not blow onto the site. Increased construction time and the cost of its arrangement. This is how permanent facade fences are built.

Supporting - fences are mounted on supporting pillars that are not connected to each other. This results in significant cost savings. However, the high height of the building significantly reduces the reliability of the fence. But it provides good circulation of soil and water on the surface of the earth. These advantages are especially noticeable when building on a slope or on loose, creeping soils, as well as soils with high humidity. Fences between neighboring plots are usually made as reference.

It is better to determine the type of construction after creating a complete sketch of the building.

Necessary materials and tools

To install a fence of any kind, you will need:

  • Decking, wave height 8-20mm.
  • Fasteners, rivets, screws.
  • Sand, gravel, cement.
  • Coating against metal corrosion - paint for metal.
  • Marking ropes, pegs.
  • Tools for earthworks(shovels, drill).
  • Welding machine, electrodes, fasteners for transverse logs.
  • Riveter, drill, screwdriver, cutting tools.
  • Supports from a profile pipe 60x40 up to 3.5 m long for support.
  • Measuring tools (tape measure, level, plumb line).
  • Crossbars - profile pipe 40x20.
  • Ruberoid, another insulating material that prevents the mixing of concrete and earth in holes.

Measurements and a sketch of the fence allow you to calculate the required amount of materials.

Carrying out work according to plan

Step-by-step instruction to create a fence from a profiled sheet is proposed below. Installation involves the implementation of 6 stages of work. It is better to study these steps in advance in order to make a corrugated fence strong and reliable.

markup

The future location of the fence is marked with pegs that are driven into the corners around the perimeter. After measuring the distances, the number of openings can be determined. The locations of the supports are marked with pegs. You will need to designate a place for the gate, gates. Pegs are also driven in there.

Advice! For a sectional fence, it is better to make the width of the spans a multiple of the dimensions of the sheet. For solid - a standard 2.5 - 3 meters is suitable.

Installation of a fence on a strip foundation, including a stepped type, provides for the installation of levels. Marks are placed on the appropriate posts installed in the corners along the perimeter, and on inclined sections - at the beginning and end of each section.

The marking of the territory is carried out independently, no complex equipment do not need to use.

Create a project

To create a plan, the perimeter of the territory, slopes are measured, obstacles that cannot be moved or removed are indicated. It can be pipelines, electrical poles. According to the measurements taken, a plan of the fence is drawn. Depending on the type of soil, relief features, economic opportunities, choose:

  • foundation type;
  • rack design;
  • material for poles and additional structures (cross beams, connecting brackets, mortgages);
  • types of fasteners used, finishing.

Drawing up a detailed sketch allows you to carry out exhaustive calculations, determine the number of required components.

Installation of supports

The use of such types of racks is practiced, providing a strong fastening of sheets:

  • ordinary tubing pipe diameter from 73 mm to 89 mm or profiled 60x60 or 80x80 mm;
  • pillars made of reinforced concrete or wood;
  • brickwork;
  • screw piles.

Installation of a profile pipe as supports

In the designated places, holes are drilled with a depth of 1 to 1.5 meters, with a diameter of 20 to 40 cm.

Comment! With a large fence height of 2 meters, the depth of the embedment of the supports should increase by 35% underground and 65% above the ground.

Racks are placed in one line, using a plumb line. Verticality and linearity exclude possible difficulties joining sheets of corrugated board.

The supports will need to be concreted. Before pouring the solution, the edges of the pits are covered with roofing material, you can use plastic wrap. This will eliminate the mixing of concrete and earth, and maintain high structural strength. The solution is poured to a depth of 1 meter, the rest is covered with sand and compacted. This method contributes to the compensation of soil deformations during temperature changes.

Important! Concrete is always air locks to be removed. The air is removed by bayoneting with the available tools. It is acceptable to use fittings or a metal corner.

The remaining types of work can be performed only three days after the concrete has been poured.

Before installing the profile pipe requires:

  1. Make a top cap to prevent rainwater from entering. You can use plastic plugs, decorative tips. It's a good idea to just weld the top of the rack.
  2. It is better to immediately cover the supports with paint of the required color.
  3. It is necessary to weld metal heels on the base of the supports (a square of sheet metal). This will make it easier to align the posts. Fastening will be more reliable and reduce draft.

Installation of reinforced concrete or wooden poles

Installation of wooden or reinforced concrete supports carried out in the same way as when installing a tubing or profile pipe. wooden supports short-lived.

Iron concrete pillars are too heavy, the crossbars are difficult to attach to them. It is better to install such elements on a strip foundation.

Installation of brick pillars

The installation of brick pillars implies the presence of a strip foundation, since the weight of the structure is very large, the pressure on the ground increases. It is difficult to install such pillars, significant costs and additional waterproofing are required.

The installation process repeats the installation of a profile pipe, which is later lined with bricks.

Important! When installing brick pillars, it involves the installation of metal mortgages, which are used when attaching the transverse elements of the fence.

Fence on screw piles

Installation advantages:

  • creation of a traditional foundation;
  • applied on any soil;
  • no need for special equipment, high installation speed.

Proper anti-corrosion treatment ensures a fence service life of more than 50 years.

However, there are also disadvantages. screwing in rocky soils violates the protective coating, visual detection of damage is impossible. Racks to piles are attached by welding. Its implementation requires certain qualifications and experience. Installation of columns on piles using screw connections is carried out after welding the flanges.

Installation of transverse logs

The next step in the installation of the fence is the installation of transverse logs. This is done by welding, clamps, bolted connections. Electric welding is the most efficient and reliable way. Logs are placed parallel to one another and the base of the structure. For a fence with a height of less than 1.7 m, 2 logs are required, if the height is greater, 3 logs will need to be installed.

The created structure is a frame. Everything is painted with anti-corrosion paint. Particular attention is paid to the welding points to prevent corrosion.

In addition to welding, it is allowed to use:

  • Staples, clamps for pairing logs with supports.
  • Brackets allow you to fix the logs to the pole (front butt, with pads-holders, on the side of the supports).

Installation of corrugated board

The fifth stage is the fastening of corrugated board sheets to the transverse strips using screws. Docking of canvases is usually done with an overlap.

Important! One edge of the sheet should have a full wave, the second - not a full one. The joint is made in one direction only. This point is important if the marking of the sheet and its cutting is done gradually as it is installed. The joint should be fixed with rivets.

Self-tapping screws are screwed onto the lower front wave:

  1. loose screws will cause leakage.
  2. too much twisted self-tapping screw causes deformation of the gasket, destroys the metal coating.
  3. a crooked screw will break the metal, cause a loose fit of the gasket, this threatens with premature corrosion.

Correctly screw the screw at an angle of 90 degrees to evenly press the gasket without touching the metal surface. It is allowed to fasten self-tapping screws to every third wave.

Completion of installation work

The end of construction will be the installation of a U-shaped bar on top of the fence. The element is optional, but creates a smooth edge. The plank is secured with clips.

Some features of the installation of a fence made of corrugated board

Uneven areas or heaving soils require special techniques.

Fluffy soil

This aspect is taken into account by those who want to install sectional or combined fences with heavy stone pillars. The danger is represented by sandy loam, loam. In other words, the earth that retains moisture during frost has the effect of heaving. The soil rises sharply when it freezes. The foundation behaves like plasticine.

You can solve the problem in various ways:

  1. Complete removal of soil to the freezing depth and its replacement with sand. The soil around the foundation is also subject to removal.
  2. Installation of the foundation below the freezing point. But the pressure of the swelling will remain on the walls of the base.
  3. Lightweight structures can be installed if the foundation is insulated with a special material. The insulation is laid to a width equal to the freezing depth.
  4. Drainage is good. It is a trench with a depth equal to the depth of the foundation. The bottom of the trenches must be equipped with a pipeline wrapped in filter material. The trench is dug at a distance of 30-50 cm from the foundation. Ready drainage is covered with rubble.

uneven areas

If leveling the site is too expensive, you can put the fence on uneven ground. A territory with sharp slopes can be fenced with sectional or combined fences that fit perfectly into the terrain. It is necessary to calculate the height and width of each span. Aesthetics will provide a stepped foundation.

On a slope of less than 35 degrees, it is allowed to make spans of a fence 2.5 meters wide. With an uneven slope, you can make a fence from spans different lengths. Increasing the slope requires reducing the length of the section. On uneven areas, it is better to install fences on a strip foundation.

  1. The connection of sheets at an angle must be closed with corner strips, which are obtained on bending equipment.
  2. Working with corrugated board requires the use of work gloves, since the material has sharp edges.
  3. Sheet cutting is performed with metal shears. The edges must be painted over. Bulgarian can not be used, it destroys the decorative coating.

Features of care

It is practically not necessary to care for a fence made of corrugated board with a polymer anti-corrosion coating. The polymer serves excellent protection. The barrier along the road can be damaged by stones, gravel. Places of damage should be periodically painted over with a special paint.

Watch the video! How to make a fence from corrugated board with your own hands

Today, more and more owners of private houses are building fences from metal profiled sheet (profiled sheet) on their plots. And this is not surprising - this durable and reliable material quickly gained popularity among the people. It is not difficult to build such a fence on your own. You can learn about all the subtleties and nuances of this work in this article.

Peculiarities

A fence made of corrugated board can be placed on the site according to your drawing without recourse to professional builders and rental of special equipment. This and other factors make it very popular among owners of private houses.

Advantages

  • Wear resistance. A fence made of profiled steel sheet will last for many years, as the material does not change its characteristics over time. It is reliably protected from corrosion by a special coating and is resistant to strong gusts of wind.
  • Profitability. In terms of "price - quality" corrugated board can be called the best for the manufacture of fences.
  • Ease of installation. With the features of the device of such a fence, almost any summer resident will cope as quickly as possible.

  • It does not require special care. It is enough just to occasionally wash the fence with plain water and, if necessary, replace individual sheets.
  • Large selection of colors.
  • Reduces noise level. Decking is able to reflect sound waves.
  • Aesthetic appearance.

When buying profiled sheets, you should pay attention to the price. Too little cost may indicate poor quality galvanizing or insufficiently thick metal that is not suitable for building a fence.

First you need to check the thickness of the sheet (to build a fence, an indicator of 0.6-0.7 mm is quite enough). Then you need to make sure that the seller has certificates confirming the quality of the material.

For fences, wall corrugated board is most often used. It is cheaper than a carrier and is suitable for any terrain without strong wind loads. It is important to find the optimal balance between price and sheet protection from external influences. We must not forget that the most cheap option in any case loses in durability.

The material has many layers, each of which serves a separate purpose. Of course, only the right combination of them makes corrugated board really high quality. For example, low-grade steel coating will not have the desired effect. To dwell on a specific material, you need to know what steel is covered with.

Types of protective coatings for corrugated board.

  • Zinc. The cheapest option, the reliability of which is not to be hoped for. It is rarely used for the construction of fences in suburban areas, but it is popular in warehouses, construction sites and industrial enterprises as a temporary fence.
  • Aluzinc. It is aluminum and zinc coated. Outwardly, such a fence will be more presentable, besides, it can be coated with acrylic or oil paints for metal. But the final cost will turn out to be rather big, given the cost of high-quality paints.

  • Polyester. The glossy surface of such a fence will always look neat, and any dirt is easily washed off by rain or water from a garden hose. The coating is resistant to all weather conditions and solvents are not afraid of it.
  • Plastisol. The most expensive and at the same time the most reliable option. Often it can be seen in elite buildings. A plastisol-coated fence will last for decades and look like new for all that time.

Particular attention should also be paid to the thickness of the sheet. If it is less than 0.45 mm, then the fence under the wind can easily be deformed and disrupt the holes for the screws.

We are talking about the thickness of the galvanized sheet in its original form, without a protective coating.

To avoid problems with the choice and not stumble upon low-quality material, it is better to order corrugated board in Europe. Leading world-famous manufacturers are concentrated there.

Constructions

Before starting construction, it is important to decide what design the fence will be. Here the choice is small: the lower edge can be buried in the ground or be above the ground. The distance between the fence and the ground is a must if the construction is carried out on a slope or on excessively wet soil.

It is also worth remembering that wind and dust will gradually erase the protective layer of corrugated board and it will need to be tinted to prevent rust.

But there is another way out - to install special U-shaped profiles on the fence for protection. They will also need to be touched up every few years, but this is much easier than dealing with rust on the fence itself.

If round pillars made of brick or wood serve as supports, the fence frame must be mounted with an overlap, i.e., by welding the log and the surface of the pillars, and attach the sheets exclusively to the logs. In the same way, you can assemble the frame on rectangular supports. Professional builders often do this.

But for greater strength, it would be useful to fix the logs in the space between the supports in such a way that their outer parts coincide. With this method of assembly, sheets can be attached both to supports and to logs. Self-tapping screws, of course, in this case will need more, but the strength of the structure will increase many times over.

There is also the so-called modular (sectional) fence - each profiled sheet is framed around the perimeter, and then welded to the supports. This option is very laborious, but in the end, such a fence will look more stylish and finished than a regular metal one.

Material calculation

Decking is a fairly durable material, and fences up to eight meters high can be erected from it. The metal is attached to the logs, which are often two or three. For mounting, metal screws are also needed.

In order to calculate how many supports you will need, you need to divide the length of the perimeter of the fence into the gaps between the supports. To the resulting number you need to add 4 (two poles at the edges of the gate and for fastening the gate) and 4 more for each corner.

The amount of corrugated board is considered taking into account the width of the sheets. Again, the perimeter of the fence must be divided by the width of the selected profiled sheets. It is recommended to take a couple of sheets more in case the calculations give an error.

To get the desired lag length, you need to multiply the perimeter by 2, and add the required footage to the result to install the gate and gate.

To make it easier to mount the fence, you can immediately order sheets of the right size. Their standard width is about 120-130 cm, and the height is 190-200 cm. You will also need metal screws, paint (if necessary), gravel and cement.

The final cost of the fence can be affected by the installation method of the supports, the thickness of the profiled sheet, the size (number) of gates and gates, the number of pillars and the lag.

Preparatory work

Step-by-step instructions for preliminary work before starting construction involves the implementation of several stages.

markup

The first step is to decide where exactly the fence (gate, gate) will be located and mark the place for the pillars. It is also necessary to decide what the height will be in order to correctly calculate the amount of material when buying.

The choice of material for the pillars

Most often, metal pipes are used as supports. The thickness of their walls should be at least 2 mm, for tall buildings - at least 3 mm. Between round and profiled pipes, it is better to choose the latter, because they are characterized by increased mechanical strength. The height of the supports directly depends on the height of the fence, and metal is often placed under the ground half a meter. Over time, metal supports must be treated with anti-corrosion compounds.

If you need to save money, you can choose wooden posts for supports. They are not as durable as metal ones, but will cost much less. In this case, spruce, cedar or pine will be the most suitable species. It is important to choose a beam without cracks, with flat surface otherwise it may need to be repaired soon enough. Before placing the poles in the ground, they must be treated with an antiseptic and a water-repellent mixture.

An alternative to wooden and metal supports can be concrete structures. Such pillars are made of cement, crushed stone and sand and have high strength.

Sometimes the foundation of the fence is made of brick, which outwardly looks more advantageous. But building a fence with brick supports will require a lot of effort and time.

Installation of supports

When the issue with the choice of material is resolved, you should proceed to the direct installation of the supports. Here the most labor-intensive and reliable option would be a fence with concrete pillars. The standard distance between the posts will be a distance of 3 meters. The fact is that the profile pipes are 6 meters long and with spans of 3 meters it will be much easier to join the logs.

Further, in the right places, using a drill, you need to make holes that are at least 10 cm wider than the selected supports in diameter. Gravel is poured into these holes, which must be properly compacted. Then the supports are inserted and aligned.

After filling the holes with gravel approximately to the middle, you can start pouring cement. The column must be well fixed with boards or braces, which can be removed only after the solution has completely solidified.

Manufacturing and installation

When the foundation is completely frozen, you can install logs. Here you will need a six-meter pipe, which was mentioned earlier. The number of lags varies from 2 to 3, depending on how high the fence will be. Logs are installed at a universal distance from the edge - 4-5 cm. For reliable fixation, it is better to weld them.

The posts are primed to prevent rust. If the soil in the area is soft, then the poles can sag fairly quickly over time. Therefore, in this case it would be logical to make a strip foundation. It is easy to install it with your own hands - a moat is dug exactly along the pillars and a low tape box is built, then waterproofing is laid along the walls of the structure and all this is poured with concrete.

Next stage- installation of a metal profile on logs. In order to firmly attach them, ordinary metal screws will suffice. Docking of metal profile sheets is overlapped. It is necessary to mount with construction gloves, because there is a danger of cutting yourself on the corners of the corrugated board.

The last and most time-consuming step will be the installation of the gate and gate. They need frames. At the same time, it is necessary to prevent sagging of the gate leaves by welding a separate bar to each of them, which will connect the opposite edges of the frames. After fastening, the frames are sheathed on top with corrugated board.

Important features to consider during construction.

  • So that the final design does not squint, when installing the pillars, it is very important to follow vertical arrangement with the help of a plumb line.
  • It is better not to make the distance between the supports more than 2.5-3 meters, because otherwise the effect of windage may be created.
  • A corrugated fence can be started at any time of the year. Its further properties will not be affected by weather and air temperature.
  • If during installation the sheets are slightly damaged or scratched, all damage must be immediately painted over. Otherwise, the corrugated board will lose its anti-corrosion properties.

Between the pillars on which the gate or gate will be installed, you need to dig a trench up to 30 cm wide, lay the reinforcement frame inside and pour concrete on top. This is necessary so that the pillars are interconnected by one foundation and the influence of weather conditions is the same on both sides of the gate (gate).

Such a design will avoid distortion of the valves and they will open / close freely. For pillars that are planned to be overlaid with bricks, such a design is required.

If the site is located on a slope, this is not at all a problem for building a corrugated fence, there are just a couple of features that should be taken into account during construction. For evenness of the structure, you need to stretch the rope around the perimeter of the building. Focusing on it, profiled sheets are attached in such a way as to prevent differences in height between them. It turns out that each sheet has a slight deviation from the vertical relative to the ground, but on a slight slope it will be almost imperceptible.

If the fence is being built on a steep slope with large differences in height, then another technology is needed. In this case, the installation line is determined using a rope, a plumb line and building level. It is necessary to measure the height of the difference between the pillars. To calculate the number of supports in this case, the height of the drops is divided by the span between the supports.

For example, if you plan a fence 30 meters long with spans between supports of 3 meters, and the difference is about 1 meter, then you need to divide 10 centimeters by the number of spans, that is, by 10. We get a result of 10 centimeters. It is by this value that each of the spans must be lowered, which will preserve the aesthetic appearance of the building. You get a kind of ladder, which gradually descends the slope.

If the slope is very steep, profiled sheets can be installed different sizes for each span. Thus, it will not turn out the best beautiful option, but at least the differences between the sheets will not be very noticeable and the fence will look more solid.

Combined structures with stone or brick supports require special attention to the condition of the soil at the site of the proposed construction. Soils that retain moisture can become a problem for construction. This property of the earth can lead to a sharp rise in the ground level when the soil freezes and, as a result, to the destruction of the entire foundation.

There are several ways to solve this problem.

  • You can remove all the soil according to the level of freezing and replace it with another soil. This must be done with the ground around the foundation.
  • You can install the foundation below the freezing level, but in this case, wet soil will put pressure on the foundation.
  • There is also the option of insulating the foundation with a special material to the entire depth of soil freezing. But this method is only suitable for light buildings.
  • The best option is to install drainage in the form of a trench with a pipe that needs to be wrapped in a filter cloth. This drainage is erected at a distance of about 40 centimeters from the fence, and the final structure is covered with rubble.

As you can see, a corrugated fence can be built by yourself in the shortest possible time and be sure that it will stand for many years. If concrete pillars do not look very aesthetically pleasing, there are many ways to make the fence more attractive and stylish.

Decor

Initially, corrugated board was produced as a material for finishing warehouses, temporary construction sites, and parking lots. That is, buildings that do not have an attractive appearance. Today, the profiled sheet has become very popular, so manufacturers had to think about the color scheme and options for its decor.

The most common decor method is a combination of corrugated board with brick or stone supports. You can also trim concrete pillars with artificial stone or buy profiled sheets painted to look like wood or stone.

The color of the fence should not stand out too sharply against the background of the design of other buildings and the entire site. Some summer residents choose corrugated board the same color with a roof. For decor steel elements it is better to use powder paint that will not fade or crack.

Plasma cutting technology allows you to make curly cuts on profiled sheets. Often, the owners are limited to the curly design of the upper edge of the fence.

Many decorate their fences with forged elements. It can be geometric figures, patterns, ornaments and everything that is enough for imagination. They can be welded or simply screwed to the corrugated board. These elements will look especially advantageous if similar ones are already present in the decoration of a balcony, staircase or gate.

In the presence of facade paints you can make your fence one of a kind. You can draw your favorite stories, flowers, abstraction. Better yet, hire a professional artist to depict a reproduction of a classic painting. After drying, such a pattern must be varnished so that it does not crack and does not burn out over time.

Well, the classic version of decoration - climbing plants, is always up-to-date. Often, greens help grow in the right direction with a couple of small mounts on the fence, leaving only the gate and gate free.

  • If suddenly during installation the sheets of corrugated board were scratched with self-tapping screws or something else, it is worth painting over the damage with a spray can as soon as possible.
  • Without at least minimal experience, it is not worth taking on a welding machine. It is better to invite a professional or use alternative ways mounting without welding.
  • If the parapets (low tides) of the fence are left open, then moisture will constantly get into small cracks in the material. With temperature fluctuations, this moisture alternately freezes and thaws, which can lead to the expansion of cracks and subsequent destruction of concrete.

  • A mandatory step is waterproofing the holes. Especially if the level of groundwater is above average. For these purposes, ruberoid is well suited.
  • If the sheets of corrugated board on the inside are very dark, the area will visually appear smaller.
  • The sheets must be joined in such a way that the corrugated sections are located vertically. Sometimes they are deliberately installed horizontally, but in this case it is worth taking care that moisture does not accumulate in the recesses.
  • Sand, filled up before pouring the foundation, will protect against uneven freezing of the earth in winter.

  • Welds must be degreased and painted the same color as the posts and gate. Otherwise, the seams can quickly rust.
  • The work will go faster and easier if you immediately correctly and accurately install the first sheet. The standard distance between the screws can be called three waves on the profiled sheet. Thus, 10-12 self-tapping screws are consumed per sheet.
  • For additional protection against moisture and to complete the building, you can install a wind bar.
  • When the poles are installed, you need to once again make sure that their location is even. To do this, you need to take a thick thread and stretch it along the entire fence, securing it to the first and last pillar.

  • Some self-taught builders simply hammer supports into the ground and attach professional sheets to them. In no case should this be done, because without a planned foundation, the fence can fall in a couple of years from a simple gust of wind. So that such improvisation in construction does not turn into complete destruction, you should immediately turn to professionals.
  • For fixing the log, both a welding machine and bolts are used. Experts advise choosing the first option. The total cost of the project will not change from this, but the strength will increase significantly.
  • To avoid deformation of the sheets, it is necessary to provide correct distance between the edge and the joists. It will be optimal if it does not exceed 40 mm.

  • For fixing profiled sheets, galvanized self-tapping screws are required. The use of aluminum fasteners can lead to cracks on the fasteners in cold weather and subsequently to the destruction of the entire fence.
  • The choice of materials for the future fence depends entirely on the owners of the site and can greatly affect the final result and service life. If a dubious material at a low price catches your eye, it is better not to take it. After all, the desire to save money at the initial stage of construction can lead to additional expenses for repairs or even to the need to completely redo the fence.

  • If a financial opportunities allow you to purchase a profiled sheet with a double-sided protective coating, it would be logical to do so. After all, this option will be much more reliable and durable than conventional corrugated board with one-sided protection. Such an investment will allow less frequent repairs to the structure.
  • When painting sheets, it will be optimal to apply several layers. This is due to the fact that after mounting, certain areas will no longer be available for painting, and additional protection will never hurt.
  • It is clear that supports made of brick or stone will look much more attractive than metal pipes. But the latter are still used most often. It's about ease self-assembly and the ability to install a lightweight foundation.

  • When decorating, you should not be limited to identical sheets of the same color. With the right approach, you can combine multi-colored sheets with different corrugations and stone or brick supports.
  • For decoration with the help of plants, you can plant grapes, ivy or other species that can grow along the fence.
  • Also, more voluminous plants are often planted around the perimeter - spruces, garden shrubs, or large flowerpots are installed in which ornamental trees grow.

  • Interior decoration the fence may include various shelves on which you can put pots with climbing flowers or just hooks on which decor items for the yard and garden are hung. In addition to jewelry, you can store household items or garden tools on such shelves.
  • Often the question arises of how to close the space under the fence in the presence of a strip foundation. This can be done carefully from the inside of the fence using the remaining pieces of profiled sheet or ordinary boards. Of course, this will spoil the aesthetic appearance of the fence, but dense shrubs planted around the perimeter will easily solve this problem.
  • If you need to plant flowers along a high foundation, then it is better to choose varieties that are not afraid of the shade.

  • In order for the walls of the concrete base to be smooth, it is recommended to add stone chips to it before pouring it.
  • Some builders weld lintels to poles for added stability. It's worth doing with outside or between posts. This method requires a lot of time and effort, but will allow you to get a very rigid and reliable frame. In addition, each individual support will be attached to the sheets and thereby strengthen the entire structure.
  • The amplitude of the corrugated wave directly affects the rigidity of the profiled sheet. Accordingly, the larger this value, the stronger the fence will be. If the site is located in an area with strong winds, then the material of class c20 will be optimal.

  • Choosing the thickness of the sheet, you need to take into account the future height of the fence. For a fence up to 2.5 meters, the thickness of 0.5 millimeters will be optimal. And a standard fence for a summer cottage is rarely made higher than two meters.
  • Coverage should also be given Special attention. Powder coating is more resistant, so you need to make a choice in its favor. It is worth considering the fact that a standard profiled sheet is sold with paint on one side only, the reverse side is either painted in grey colour or not processed at all. If the appearance of the inside of the fence is important for the owners and they do not have the desire to spend a lot of effort on decor, then it is better to immediately purchase a double-sided coated corrugated board.

  • If it becomes necessary to cut the profiled sheet yourself, then special metal scissors will help. In this case, it is better not to use a grinder, because the edge can turn out with notches, and scissors are much safer.
  • Another important feature that for some reason many builders neglect is that the top of the support column should definitely be welded, otherwise it will simply flatten out and this will lead to moisture getting inside and, as a result, to an increase and cracking of the support in winter.
  • It is better to start installing the pillars from the extreme ones, fixing them with wedges and a stretched cord. Based on them, it will be much easier to adjust the height of the following pillars.
