How to repair parquet floor yourself. Do-it-yourself parquet board repair. How to restore swollen parquet

The floor, lined with parquet, may eventually become unusable, which can be guessed from loose planks, a creaking sound, and blisters that have appeared. A real disaster for wood flooring– high humidity and mechanical damage. An uneven floor with external defects (scratches, chips, pits) is like an eyesore. However, do not rush to throw out your used parquet. Its complete replacement will hit your pocket quite noticeably. Restoration of parquet, especially if it is done by hand, will cost less, and its results can be no worse than with its complete replacement. Restore old parquet it is not always possible

Is it possible to restore parquet with your own hands

It makes sense to restore old parquet:

  • If there is no swelling over its entire area :
Such consequences usually occur after the flood.
Is it possible to restore the coating in this case? Theoretically, yes, if it is immediately disassembled and dried, not only the dies, but also the base plywood base.
    .
If the plywood is bent and deformed, then, alas, it will also have to be changed.
    • The work that will have to be carried out is similar in complexity to a complete replacement of the pavement, but the costs will still be less if the slabs are suitable for re-laying
    • But if most of parquet after drying bent, cracked, then laying such a floor for the second time is pointless
  • If the parquet has not turned black and has not become loose :
These are signs of damage by fungus and dampness. It's pointless to mess with such parquet
  • If there is no total serious damage :
    • Most of the dies are completely cracked and dry out
    • The floor is shaking all over

Restoration of the old parquet in this case is possible, but it will require a lot of money and time and, possibly, qualified specialists

  • If you can fix the script :
If the floor creaks everywhere, this is a harbinger of the fact that he has served his.
In this case, you can try to remove the creak by inserting wooden wedges between the floor and the wall, if you still did not have them, or replace the old wedges with new ones.
(The method is possible if the humidity in the apartment is not more than 60%).
    .
If the humidity in the room is high, then the creak is most likely due to the fact that the floor surface has “led”, and it is now uneven. In this case, the restoration of parquet is hardly possible.

Cosmetic repair of parquet

Such repairs are carried out if individual sections are damaged:

  • They have scratches, single defects and dirt.
  • Some boards have peeled off
  • Somewhere there is a creak

In this case, it is quite possible to carry out repairs on your own and without grinders.

For this you will need:

  • Manual scraper
  • Plane
  • Drill with a thin drill
  • rubber mallet
  • Hammers with round and square heads
  • Doboynik
  • Screwdriver
  • Planer, chisel
  • thin nails
  • Putty knife
  • Brush
  • Sandpaper of different grits
  • Cement
  • liquid wax
  • wax pencil
  • Bituminous mastic
  • Putty Bona
  • Parquet adhesive and varnish

Furniture at cosmetic repairs It is not necessary to take out the parquet: it can be draped with an old cloth and covered with a protective film on top.

Floor strengthening

Bonding individual parquet boards
  • Lightly tap the entire parquet with the hammer handle: the sound of loose or poorly adhered pieces of wood will be more sonorous
  • Pull out the detached dies and clean the base from dust and old glue
  • Apply glue to the base and glue the dice
  • Drive them flush to the neighboring ones by tapping with a hammer
  • Glued elements can be pressed from above with something heavy
  • If the parquets still protrude, then after the glue has dried, they can be processed with a planer
  • You can strengthen the departed dies by nailing them at an angle to the neighboring ones - deeply, using a finisher, then filling the holes from the hats
  • You can do gluing without removing the dies, but by drilling into them small holes through which, using a pistol, fill

Excess glue from the surface and along the edges of the holes must be removed.

If entire sections are loosened, they can be strengthened with bamboo, driving wedges from it into holes drilled at the corners of the section

Alignment of individual sections

If the parquet has reared up in some places, then in these places it must be completely disassembled. If necessary, not only the restoration of parquet, but also the base is needed.

Glue is applied to the plywood with a spatula, the planks are glued. Then the restored area must be pressed down with a load

Fighting the squeak

  • If some parquets creak, drill holes in them and fill them with a mixture of liquid wax and cement laitance.
  • If the whole area creaks, you need to remove the dies and stick them on the bituminous mastic

Looping and grinding

Surfaces with the most damage and irregularities are best treated with a hand scraper.
Manual scraper for parquet

After that, you need to consistently walk through the parquet with skins, starting from the coarsest and ending with the thinnest.

To simplify the work, you can cut out sandpaper rectangles according to the size of work shoes (sneakers or boots) and glue them to the sole. Grinding is carried out in a circular motion.

Sealing gaps and seams

Small scratches can be masked with a wax pencil, and for larger ones, prepare a putty to match the floor:

Small chips and dust left after scraping and grinding can be mixed with parquet glue and Bona putty, and with this mixture close up all the cracks and seams.
To seal the cracks, a tinted putty is prepared

Putty is applied like this:

Video: How to putty parquet

If somewhere the dies have dried out too much, and wide seams have formed on the parquet, then you should use the hook-rule to pull all the planks to one side, and place a wooden riveting or chip directly on the putty in the remaining large gap, covering it with tinting putty from above.

After filling, the surface must be sanded again.

You can make an imitation of the seams with the help of false joints: between the planks under the ruler, draw them with a screwdriver or an awl

Tinted putty and false joints allow for a thin restoration, after which the restored area will practically not differ from the rest of the floor

Lacquering

The varnish is selected to match the old one.

The minimum number of layers of varnish is two, the optimal is at least four.

You can choose a varnish from the following considerations:

  • If you plan in a few years overhaul floors, you can buy an inexpensive and low-toxic alkyd varnish
  • From non-toxic and cheap, polymer varnish is also not bad. water based. After it, the floor can be treated with mastic
  • Epoxy and acrylic varnishes Best used for major renovations
The first is too toxic, the second is very expensive

Overhaul of parquet

Before repair, all furniture must be removed from the room.

Do-it-yourself capital restoration of parquet takes place in the same sequence as cosmetic, only the scope of work and working tools differ:

Full restoration of parquet is a dirty, dusty and unhealthy job that also requires expensive equipment, so it makes sense to entrust it to professionals.

Well, if you still decide to do it yourself, then it is desirable:

  • During the restoration, temporarily move to another apartment
  • Rent grinders or from friends

Video: Major restoration of parquet

Parquet is a beautiful, durable, practical and very prestigious floor covering. With proper care, parquet will serve the owners for decades. But, unfortunately, sometimes the coating needs repair. A major repair of parquet with your own hands and without special skills is hardly possible. And as for the elimination of minor defects - this task is quite solvable. This is what we will deal with in this article.

When to contact specialists?

There are a number of cases when you definitely need to turn to professional craftsmen:

  • Strong wear of the parquet with a thick layer of varnish, noticeable cracks and hollows. It is possible that the need for replacement floor covering no, but scraping and restoration are definitely needed.
  • Parquet boards are swollen from getting wet or lagged behind the base. It is possible to restore such parquet, but it is better to entrust such a difficult job to professionals.
  • The wood has loosened and darkened, there are traces of damage by rotting and mold. Decayed parquet needs to be completely replaced. It is desirable that this be done by the masters.

In all these cases, the help of specialists will be required, since the work ahead is voluminous, requiring special knowledge and equipment. If you still decide to do it yourself, read our recommendations:

Important! If the restoration of parquet is timed to repair in the apartment, then it is advisable to do this after all other work has been completed.

Consider several options for the restoration of parquet with your own hands.

Sticky chewing gum

Plasticine or chewing gum glued to the floor is a real problem. The mistake of many housewives is the use of a solvent. Under no circumstances should this be done. There may not be any traces of chewing gum, but nothing can remove the stain on the surface of the floor.

Get rid of chewing gum or plasticine on the floor helps the following:

  1. Pour ice cubes into a plastic bag and place on the spot.
  2. After 10-15 minutes, clean the gum with a spatula.

No trace will be left.

scratches

If minor damage has formed on the surface of the parquet, then you can deal with them without freeing the room from the furniture:

  1. Clean the floor from varnish, and then get rid of the defect with cosmetic putty.
  2. After the putty is completely dry, rub it with sandpaper, scratch the false joints.
  3. Finishing touch - varnish the surface in two layers. Each layer must dry. In order for everything to go smoothly, use the tips.

Important! Minor scratches can be repaired with a repair kit. It includes a pencil that paints over individual small defects.

cracks

They are formed from the drying of parquet dice. If the wood has not rotted and is not affected by mold, then it can be completely restored. You can get rid of single slots using the algorithm described above:

  1. Cleaning the parquet surface.
  2. Putty.
  3. Scratching a false joint.
  4. Lacquering the floor.

Important! Repairing flooring is a very troublesome business and here it is necessary to adhere to technology. In order not to be mistaken in such a situation, use the recommendations on.

If the gap width exceeds 5 mm and there are many of them, they use such a technique so that do-it-yourself parquet repair gives a good result:

  1. Warm up problem area floors with a building hair dryer. If you smell mastic or putty, the parquet is ready for further processing.
  2. Using a rubber mallet and a hook-rule, pull the dies one towards the other. The result is one large gap.
  3. Lay a wooden riveting on the putty in the gap formed (flush with the floor surface).
  4. Carry out further processing of the floor according to the already described algorithm with cleaning, puttying, marking false joints, grinding and applying varnish in 2 layers.

Important! It is more difficult if the dies are stacked in a herringbone pattern. In this case, you will have to individually repair each slot. Staves can be small chips or shavings.

Loosened parquet

How to restore parquet with your own hands if individual boards are loosened? Separate parquet boards are fixed by nailing to the neighboring ones with the help of small carnations. Hammer nails at 45 degrees larger side dies. Drown the hat in a tree, and then putty, sand it and varnish it.

The floor creaks

For hardwood floors, this is one of the most common problems. The cause of creaking may be errors made when laying the coating, or the natural aging of the material.

Important! The easiest way to eliminate the creak is if the dies are laid by craftsmen on bitumen mastic. It is much more difficult if the parquet was laid by non-professionals. In this case, parquet screed can help.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Measure the humidity level in the room. The optimal humidity level is 40%, the maximum is 60%.
  2. Remove the skirting boards and check the condition of the expansion wedges. If the floor creaks, then the expansion wedge, most likely, lies inside the cracked crack and, of course, does not burst anything.
  3. If building foam was used instead of a spacer wedge, then remove it using a chisel.
  4. Replace old wedges with new ones.
  5. Tap the wedges daily until the squeak is completely gone.

Important! If these measures were ineffective, this indicates that the parquet is completely worn out and must be replaced. If floor repair is not planned in the near future, cover the floor with plywood on a waterproofing basis or thickly ground inorganic paint (red lead, whitewash).

floor swelling

As a rule, the floor swells from a large number water. You can fix such a problem yourself only if you have suffered small plot gender. How to repair a parquet floor with your own hands if it is swollen from water? The procedure for this is as follows:

  1. Warm up the problem area of the floor using building hair dryer. good sign- if at the same time there was a smell of parquet mastic.
  2. While the surface has not had time to cool down, cover it with burlap and place a load on top at the rate of 1 m2 - 10 kg. To do this, you can use a basin filled with water, a weight or a three-liter cylinder, again filled with water.
  3. Leave the coating on for at least 24 hours. If swelling has decreased, repeat the entire algorithm again.

Important! In order for this event to be crowned with success, the right technique is needed. Ours will help you with this.

If the events were not successful, then the floor, alas, cannot be repaired and the damaged dies will have to be replaced.

Important! If the floor is swollen, then it is necessary to start solving the problem immediately, no later than a week after the swelling has occurred. After a week, the fungus begins to develop, and the plates affected by it must be replaced.

The processing technology depends on the type of wood from which the boards are made:

  • If it is straight-grained wood (oak, walnut), then moisten the boards a little before repairing. Cover the area to be repaired with a damp cloth and leave to dry completely.
  • If the wood is thin-layered (beech, birch, exotic tree species), dry the parquet thoroughly before repairing.

Before you restore the old parquet with your own hands, you need to master 4 operations:

  • Preparation of tinted putty, its use.
  • Drawing false joints.
  • Scraping the floor using a manual scraper.
  • Grinding.

putty

AT construction stores Various restorative pastes are available for parquet flooring. However, there is also a possibility for self cooking putty mix:

  1. Saw sawdust from the parquet of the same wood that you have laid.
  2. Mix them with varnish.

Important! The resulting putty has a creamy consistency. It is great for repairing potholes, seams, and other minor damage. The proportion between the volumes of sawdust and epoxy varnish is 1:4. If you are making putty from epoxy, then it resembles plasticine in consistency.

false joints

This is an imitation of the joint between parquet floors. The false joint helps to make the repair area invisible. It is best to use a metal ruler and an awl. The procedure for this is as follows:

  • Make sure that the putty partially hardens and resembles jelly in consistency.

Important! Alkyd and uralkyd putties harden within a few minutes, so you need to prepare everything you need in advance.

  • Having outlined the intended connection line for parquet slabs, lay a metal ruler and draw a straight line of the desired length with an awl.
  • If the false joint must be non-linear, then use a metal ruler, bending it. Draw a line with gentle pressure on the ruler.

Application of hand cycle

This is a rather difficult and laborious task. You can manually loop a small area. Cycles are sold in hardware stores.

Using the tips in this article, you can minor repairs parquet and independently. Remember to take good care of your flooring and it will serve you for many years to come!

Parquet has been the most popular floor covering for more than two hundred years, because it is a natural and expensive material. It is able to last several decades, but only with proper care and proper styling. But often, along with new housing, people already receive, to put it mildly, worn-out parquet with scratches, cracks, and crevices. What to do in such cases, how to put the natural board in order, thereby avoiding its replacement? In this article we will tell you how to repair parquet board with your own hands.

What are the parquet deformations and their causes?

Improper operation can lead to the fact that the parquet boards crack, spoil them appearance. Restoration of a parquet board with your own hands should begin with a consideration of the most popular problems that need to be addressed.

Owners of such flooring are more likely to encounter the following defects:

  • The creak of floorboards. A similar effect occurs due to a decrease in the level of humidity in the house, due to which the planks simply dry out, rub against each other during operation, and move from their place. Self-tapping screws or laid substrates used in the laying process wear out at least as often.
  • Bloating parquet. The reason is an increase in the level of humidity in a particular place or around the entire perimeter of the room.
  • Subsidence of boards. Such a defect occurs due to improper arrangement of the base, its elimination takes a lot of time and effort.
  • Scratches, abrasion, tarnishing of the parquet flooring. These problems are caused by a long service life, their restoration occurs only with the help of special equipment.
  • Cracks, cracks, chips. Such defects appear as a result of various mechanical effects on natural wood. But, by the way, they are eliminated quite simply.

What to do if the floorboards start to creak?

Now you will learn how to restore a parquet board with your own hands, if the floor began to creak, cracks appeared. In such cases, as a rule, complete dismantling of the boards is required. Such an unpleasant defect must be eliminated using one of the methods below.

Important! The first step is to determine the scope of work, that is, the squeak area and the probable cause. If the parquet began to creak in a certain place, it is recommended to find out where the creaking point is, mark it with chalk.

Perform parquet restoration according to one of the proposed schemes, depending on the scale of the problem.

Method 1

  1. Carefully remove the plank or several boards, check the quality of the base.
  2. If the board itself and the base are not damaged, then serious repairs will not be required, because this means that the planks are in good condition - they just need to be glued with the substrate.
  3. Lay the boards back, stick tapes of masking tape on top.
  4. Then drill a hole in the center of each of them, fill the space under the floorboards with glue.
  5. Self-tapping screws or " liquid nails” Fix the boards to the floor.
  6. Close the caps of the self-tapping screws with wooden plugs or simply putty them.
  7. Cover the repaired boards with decorative varnish.

Method 2

If the floor creaks immediately around the entire perimeter, there are large gaps, then it is necessary to dismantle all the planks, replace the substrate and re-lay them.

Important! This kind of restoration is carried out only on condition that the boards have retained their shape and presentation.

Method 3

If the floor creaks only in the area where the boards touch the wall, then it is enough to remove a few planks that touch the wall and cut them off by 10 cm. Then the boards are laid back in place and the baseboard is installed.

Method 4

If loose or worn self-tapping screws became the cause of the squeaks, then they will have to be completely replaced with new ones. First, carefully clean the holes for the nails, only then carry out the replacement.

Important! After restoration, the boards are varnished or puttied.

How to restore a sagging parquet board?

Now let's look at how to repair a parquet board with your own hands if it is bent. Such a defect is corrected by removing the slats and subsequent repair of the base.

Important! Often subsidence occurs due to poor-quality flooring or premature wear of the substrate.

To solve this problem, it is necessary to disassemble the sagging area, then update the base directly under it. Of course, the ideal result can only be achieved by completely removing the entire parquet and replacing the underlay in the entire room.

Important! This approach will increase operational properties floor for decades to come.

How to restore swollen parquet?

As a rule, such a defect appears due to the impact on the boards of a large amount of moisture that seeps through the cracks. How to restore a parquet board with your own hands in this case?

  1. Here, the first step is to ensure that the parquet is properly dried. You can completely dismantle the floor and lay it in piles, laying between layers corrugated cardboard. This will help to completely remove moisture from the wood. It is important to ensure high-quality dry ventilation of the room.
  2. Next, the boards are laid on an already dried base, fixed with self-tapping screws or dowels.

Important! If the planks remained in place, but only slightly raised above the floor level, then you can use a scraping machine. If the problem arose a long time ago, and you intend to repair the entire deformed area, then it is better to remove the damaged boards and replace them with new planks. Then they are sanded and varnished.

How to get rid of cracks, chips, scratches on a parquet board?

Minor scratches can be removed with a wax pencil. If for a reason mechanical impact large chips or scratches appeared on the boards, then they can be easily repaired:

  1. The damaged area is carefully polished and degreased.
  2. Chips or scratches are rubbed with putty and remain in this form until completely dry.
  3. Then this place is polished and covered with decorative varnish.

Important! Slots with a width of more than 5 mm are more difficult to eliminate; they are filled with specially cut wooden slats then sanded and varnished on top.

Parquet floors are considered the most the best coatings for the floor. New parquet is always well polished and has lacquer coating He always looks handsome and solid. But time spares no one. Parquet gradually becomes unusable, cracks appear on it. It cracks, the planks begin to crack. Replacing an old parquet floor with a new one is a very expensive pleasure. It will be much cheaper to restore the old parquet. Usually, it is necessary to restore the parquet once in many years. It all depends on the conditions in which the parquet was used. The site has prepared a short guide to self-repair gender.

Start of floor restoration

To remove the tarnish and loss of color of the parquet, you need to use grinder. Minor scratches on parquet can be easily removed with putty or sanding. After the performed operations, the parquet must be varnished or waxed. If the parquet began to creak, then it must be re-layed. The creak is due to poor laying of parquet or the use of the wrong technology.

Swelling of parquet can occur when moisture enters. Such damage can be repaired in only one way - by re-laying the parquet. To replace a cracked or broken riveting, it is necessary to replace the broken parquet. To do this, you need to completely remove adhesive base. Then you need to prepare and fit the new riveting in size. Fill with special mastic the place where the riveting is laid.

After pouring, you need to install the riveting. It is necessary to put a heavy load on the riveting, having previously removed all the protruding mastic. Having finished all the work, it is worth doing the scraping. It will help hide the replaced rivets. After sanding, floor sanding and varnishing is required. Lacquer must be applied in several layers. The coating will be durable if several layers of varnish are applied.

In order to have the best adhesion of all layers, grinding should be carried out after each applied layer, except for the last one. Working with varnish requires not forgetting safety precautions. It must always be remembered that varnish is flammable. When working with varnish, it is mandatory to use respiratory protection equipment. Don't forget to ventilate the room.

Scraping and sanding old parquet

In the old days, scraping parquet was the removal of the surface layer of a tree. Nowadays, with the advent new technology and various grinders, sanding of parquet became sanding. This operation is carried out in several steps. Sanding parquet makes it possible to save the floor for much more for a long time than simply removing the top layer. For the scraping operation, a variety of grinding machines are used. They can be drum, belt, surface grinding and others. We have already figured out how it is done, using the loop, check it out if necessary.

The initial sanding is the roughest. Here, everything strongly depends on the professionalism of the master. This grinding must be done without flaws so that pits and inconsistencies are not found in the future. Floor cycling occurs in the following sequence:

9 stages of repair

1. The parquet is rough sanded. For such grinding, a special drum-type machine or surface grinder is used. Drum-type machines have high productivity, but require high skill. Rough grinding removes all irregularities, removes all old coating.

2. After rough grinding, fine grinding of the old parquet is carried out. For it, disk surface grinders are used. Fine grinding removes the remaining bumps and flaws.

3. The third step is to sand the most inaccessible places.

4. After all grinding, all cracks must be puttied. It is desirable to apply putty on the whole, but only cracks, chips and potholes can be putty. Applying putty to the entire floor will require large financial costs. With local putty, you may not notice cracks. There may be a mismatch in color.

5. When the putty dries, fine grinding is carried out. She removes an unnecessary layer of putty, leaving it only in the cracks and pores.

6. Before you begin to varnish the surface, do not forget to remove the accumulated dust and debris.

7. When the cleaning is finished, you can start varnishing the old parquet.

8. Having varnished the parquet for the first time, you need to wait for it to dry completely. Then do an intermediate sanding. She will remove all excess pile and debris. This sanding will improve the adhesion of the layers.

9. When the intermediate sanding is finished, it is necessary to vacuum the parquet and polish it again. Parquet will not require repair if properly installed. Such parquet will serve for a long time and reliably, restoration will not be needed for the next 10-15 years.

PARQUET REPAIR WITH YOUR HANDS:

Cover up scratches and scuffs.

The difference between scraping and putty.

Eliminate gaps.

Eliminate the script.

We equalize the differences in the height of the floor covering and swelling.

How to lighten darkened parquet?

Replacement of several parquet elements.

Application of a decorative coating.

For many centuries, parquet floors have not lost their positions among the most popular, elite and environmentally friendly (this item appeared not so long ago) floor coverings.

Reliable and durable, often luxurious and surprising with an intricate pattern - the list of advantages of such a floor covering is endless.

Despite its strength, even oak parquet, over time, needs albeit cosmetic, but repair.

As a rule, such coordinated measures are caused by mechanical damage or not quite proper care. But do not be upset and calculate in your mind the costs of laying a new floor covering, you are absolutely within your power to repair the old parquet with your own hands. Therefore, without delay, we proceed to eliminate the problems that have arisen on the flooring.

Attention! Buy parquet in your area favorable prices, as well as ordering high-quality services for laying parquet from trusted craftsmen, you can easily use the construction and repair portal Stroyka.ru.

We cover scratches and scuffs of wooden parquet

Very often, the parquet floor becomes unusable locally: a scratch appeared there, but there are a lot of them under that chair ... As a rule, such damage is not very deep and can be repaired on your own without resorting to a global repair. All you need is a sheet of sandpaper. First we use coarse-grained, and then fine-grained. We wipe it with a damp cloth, let it dry and cover the area in stages with two layers of varnish, before applying which you should slightly darken the area with a stain.

In those cases where the floor surface is dotted with scratches and abrasions on a large enough scale, the parquet will have to be scraped completely. Once upon a time, such work was carried out without mechanical assistance - manually, a simple device was used - a metal scraper. In principle, you can use this method now, but it will take a lot of time, effort and nerves.

Therefore, deciding to make repairs wooden parquet on your own, it is better to rent a sanding machine, which, without much noise and dust, thanks to special garbage collection bags, will help you get rid of the leaky layer of flooring.

If the scratches and damage are not very deep, then it is quite possible to do the grinding yourself or with the help of a grinder, which can also be rented.

The difference between sanding and sanding parquet

At this point, it is worth clarifying the differences between sanding and sanding a parquet floor. Many do not understand or know the difference between these two repair procedures.

Cycling machines cut upper layer wood flooring and often the result is quite rough, additional sanding is required. At the same time, the thickness of the wooden floor becomes thinner quite significantly.

And now for the sanding. In principle, the procedure is similar to scraping, but Grinder removes such a thin layer of wood, leaving a perfect flat surface that to the human eye, the difference is completely imperceptible.

Eliminate gaps

Panel parquet over time can give us unpleasant surprises in the form of cracks.

The reason is rather banal - loosening of flooring planks. This is quite expected and even normal for natural wood which tends to dry out.

If the cracks have gone all over the floor, you will have to work hard to eliminate the cracks in the parquet with your own hands. In this case, work to eliminate the deficiencies that have appeared should be carried out only after the floor grinding cycle!

When the cracks have not yet filled the entire surface of the floor, but you do not want to leave them a chance for further creep, it is enough to seal the floor with putty, which you can buy ready-made or make your own putty.

We inherited the simplest recipe from the Soviet past: PVA glue mixed with dusty sawdust. But this option has significant disadvantage- a large percentage of shrinkage after drying.

Oak, pine or aspen parquet “loves” putty based on ten percent animal fat, which is heated in a steam bath and ingredients are added to it in the following proportion:

  • 100 grams of fat;
  • 500 gr drying oil;
  • 125 gr of turpentine;
  • 25 g of liquid desiccant;
  • powdered chalk and liquid soap in the proportion that will help achieve the consistency of sour cream.

The resulting mixture is used on a previously cleaned surface in a warm state. If you do not have time to use the putty before it has cooled down, then you will have to heat it up in a steam bath.

Of course, you can give a lot more recipes with a base of carpentry or wallpaper glue, but in the 21st century it is better to buy all this in a store.

The process of puttying is absolutely simple. You can imagine that you are washing the floor, and not doing the parquet repair with your own hands in a circular motion. At the end of the work, remove the excess mixture with a spatula and let the floor dry thoroughly, and then sand and varnish.

In the case when the gaps are large, but their number is small and the damage is located locally, you can pull off the planks of the panel parquet with your own hands, and carefully place a pre-prepared wooden blank in the vacated space. Then proceed according to the algorithm described above: grinding - putty - drying - varnishing.

If cracks appear throughout the parquet section, you can try to save your flooring by disassembling it and reassembling it, you can first replace the shields that have finally become unusable with new ones that are maximally matched in color.

Upon completion of all types of work, in the future you must ensure optimal temperature regime and indoor humidity levels.

Eliminate the creak

In the process of walking and mechanical impact, the planks that are not interconnected begin to rub against each other, making a sound that is not very pleasant to the human ear.

The easiest way to fix this problem is to fit the shields with hardware. The insertion point of the hardware will then need to be puttied.

The delamination and flaking of the parquet from the base can also set the stage for squeaking. This problem will also not be difficult to deal with on your own if you stick to our step by step instructions do-it-yourself parquet repair. You don't need too many tools:

  • Self-tapping screw, with which the parquet boards return to the base.
  • Glue. We introduce it with the help of a medical syringe into the existing hole or slot.
  • Mounting foam. You need to work with it carefully so as not to raise the parquet with excess volume.

If the above measures cannot be dispensed with, then it will be necessary to carry out partial dismantling and then reinstall.

There are two more reasons that can provoke the appearance of a creak, but it will be difficult to eliminate them yourself if you do not have certain professional skills - an incorrectly calculated distance between the lags and the absence expansion joint. As a rule, in these cases, a complete dismantling of the floor covering, and sometimes a rough one, is necessary, followed by re-laying.

We level differences in the height of the floor covering and swelling

If the difference is significant enough, then you will have to sort out the panel parquet in order to eliminate possible cause- deformation of the base.

An insignificant difference of a few millimeters can simply be cycled and sanded.

As a rule, level differences and swelling of the parquet are the result of flooding with water.

To avoid a disastrous result, you can try to prevent such problems by taking action immediately after removing the water from the floor. Some measures will help not only prevent drops, but also eliminate bloating very quickly and easily. For example, bloating can be removed with a hair dryer. Dry the parquet area with hot air until the smell of mastic appears. Then we put a dense canvas and lay heavy object, which will force the tree to take an even shape.

How to replace darkened parquet?

Darkening of the parquet can happen for many reasons. This may be the wrong type of coating or incorrectly applied. Or maybe the darkness is a consequence of accidentally spilled liquids, the pigment of which has eaten into the pores of the tree.

The reason, in principle, is not important - it does not affect the method of elimination. He is alone - you should polish the parquet (in the most severe cases scraping), and then cover with tinting varnish, which levels the flaw.

Replacing several parquet elements

Sometimes, parquet lasts a long time and does not bring any special problems, but with the exception of a few shields or dies that could wear out, split, fall out of the set. And in such cases, we can carry out the repair of old parquet very easily and quickly, if you follow our step-by-step instructions:

  • Crumble and remove the damaged die with a chisel and hammer.
  • In its place, put a new one of the same color and thickness, make a stroke required size and then cut out a new one.
  • We smear the sawn off plate with glue, and at the same time we apply glue to the floor. We put a new one in place of the damaged one and, as the glue dries, varnish it.

If you have to replace not one, but several parquet elements, then the algorithm remains the same.

Tip: If you are changing several dice in the parquet, then let them lie in the room for several days to equalize the moisture level of the old and new parts.

Application of a decorative coating

Coating the parquet with varnish or an oil-wax mixture gives the floor not only a beautiful and grand appearance, but also protects the wood from mechanical damage as well as the occurrence of mold and mildew.

The lacquer coating, of course, looks more respectable due to its luxurious shine, but requires periodic updating, because it fades during the year.

Oil-wax looks like a modest sister against the background of varnish, but it penetrates deeply into the structure of wood and you can forget about it for several years, unless force majeure happens.
