Renovation of a one-room apartment of 40 m2. We draw up a project for repair and show design options for a one-room apartment. Entrance door and table in a small apartment project

An apartment of 40 sq. meters can not be considered too small. "Odnushki", designed in the time of N. S. Khrushchev, were much smaller. Modern people value space and comfort. The possibilities of construction and furniture production make it possible to turn 40 sq. meters of space into a spacious elegant home.

How to arrange?

It is better to start the arrangement of a one-room apartment with a repair. No matter how beautiful the furniture is, surrounded by old walls, it will lose its attractive appearance and will not be able to create the expected comfort. Having made a decision in favor of carrying out repairs, keep in mind two scenarios: you can redevelop by destroying the walls, or leave everything in its original form and repair it with high quality. Each approach has both pros and cons.

redevelopment

It is necessary to draw up a design project. Dimensions, style, furniture - everything needs to be thought out at the initial stage. Then you should register the changes in the BTI (this will make it possible to do without problems during the sale or donation). The load-bearing walls and communications specified in the project cannot be touched.

The room can be combined with a corridor, a kitchen, a balcony. You can also remove all partitions by equipping a studio apartment on an area of 40 square meters. m. When connecting the hall with a balcony, care should be taken to insulate the second one. Radiators can be slightly shifted or covered with a pedestal. Even with a small balcony, there is an increase in space. So, it turns out a cozy area for rest or work.

If you remove the wall between the living room and the corridor, the territory will expand significantly. Having abandoned the hallway, you will have to change shoes right in the hall, but this inconvenience will fit in a few minutes, but then you can enjoy the space for hours. The kitchen and living room are organically combined into a single whole. There are so many places that zoning suggests itself. However, you will have to solve the problem with the gas stove. It can be replaced with an electric one, or the working area can be separated from the dining room with a solid partition in the form of a wardrobe.

Repair without redevelopment

Starting repairs in the apartment, you need to clearly imagine the end result. The entire workflow should be directed to a pre-thought-out outcome. For example, leaving raw brickwork on the wall (for a loft-style interior), residents change their minds and purchase Provence-style furniture. It is not easy to fix a wall when the repair is already finished. Hall in an apartment of 40 sq. m can not be called either tiny or large, therefore, any actions during the repair and improvement should be aimed at achieving the main goal - visual expansion of the volume.

If the ceiling is not high enough, then you should not overload it with multi-tiered structures. The color is better to choose classic white, but you can also use a shade that is two tones lighter than the walls. A glossy canvas increases the space well, and dark gray has great reflective properties. A large, low-weight chandelier reduces space. The lighting solution must be active, separating each zone.

If central lighting is necessary, then the chandelier should be chosen small, tightly fitting to the ceiling.

You will have to work well on the walls even at the rough stage. Do not hope that liquid or corrugated wallpaper will "hide" all the distortions. In the process of work, you need to remember about zoning: you may have to make a niche, highlight part of the wall with a different color. It is better to paste over a small room with light wallpaper, although different tonality of the walls is allowed. For a cheerful look, you can make a bright accent. When working on the floor, you should choose light glossy materials. In combination with delicate walls, they will create additional volume. A good screed will level the floor, and the furniture will not look skewed.

Furniture must match the chosen style and have a common color scheme. Sometimes, guided by the taste of the owner, you can mix several styles, but this should not be too zealous. Originality and bad taste have no clear boundaries. Furniture should be chosen functional, perhaps a transformer, but it is better to refuse everything superfluous. In small rooms, mirrors and glossy surfaces are used that deepen the space. Do not surround yourself with many small items - a cluttered room seems smaller. In addition, trinkets do not carry a practical load, and a few expensive things are enough for aesthetic perception.

The kitchen, not connected to the hall, should have two zones: work and dining. This room is frequently visited, and it must be made as convenient as possible. The working area, located in a circle, will allow the person standing in the center to reach everything with his hand. As for furniture, deaf structures are well diluted with modules. Something should be put forward, and the table for the dining area can be transformed from the side surface of the cabinet. Chairs are hidden in the same cabinet.

A small kitchen is more difficult to maintain, so all surfaces are best made smooth.

The bathroom and toilet can be separate and so small that there will be nowhere to even wash clothes. If the bathroom is combined, then there is a place for a washing machine, a shower cabin, a small bathtub, a sink and a toilet bowl. Families with children should not destroy the wall. You should simply replace a large bath with a small one or a shower. You may have to deploy them to another wall, freeing up space for the typewriter.

A small hallway should not be overloaded with monolithic furniture. Everything should look open and accessible, that is, be at arm's length. Suitable, for example, a shoe rack with a seat, over which there is a hanger or a mirror, as well as a slim 30 cm deep. It stores shoes almost vertically. If there is a need for a closet, then it is better to disguise it as a wall.

Space zoning

The smaller the apartment, the more difficult it is to organize the separate zones that the family needs. The task is not that the area of 40 square meters. m divided into equal territories, but to use the space with maximum benefit. The interests of all family members must be taken into account. The apartment must have a place to sleep, receive guests, cook, work. A family with a child should take care of its private territory, as children live in their own interests, and they have nothing to do with the wonderful interior of adults. In some cases, a zone is allocated for a library, a winter garden or a workshop (for example, with a table equipped with small drawers for needlework).

In an apartment, zoning can be done both in the living room and in non-residential premises.

  • Kitchen traditionally divided into dining and work space.
  • Combined bathroom in order to maintain hygiene, it can be divided by a light partition, but otherwise it is already clear where the laundry area is located, and where is the shower area.

photos

  • hallway, if space permits, should be divided into two zones: frequent use and storage of seasonal items. The first should have at least a small shoe rack, a hanger, a mirror and a rug. If space permits, you can add an ottoman, a nightstand for small items, accessories for umbrellas, hats, bags, scarves and gloves, as well as a key holder. The place where seasonal items are stored also depends on the free space. It can be equipped with a small but tall wardrobe and a closed shoe rack or an impressive design with various sections, including space for shoes and small items.
  • Living room- the only living room in the apartment. She will have to take on the functions of a bedroom, dressing room, possibly a dining room. In the same room you will have to relax, work and meet guests, and if there are children, then the best part of the room should go to them.

Sleeping place can be distinguished by a podium, protected by curtains or a light partition. In particularly cramped rooms, it is better to install a folding sofa, which will be assembled every day. The lack of a sleeping area will allow you to arrange a work area. The computer desk and armchair are separated from the rest of the space by a rack with double-sided shelves. If the workplace is not so important for the owners, then you can limit yourself to a folding surface for a laptop. It is not necessary to burden the space with a wardrobe; it is enough to place a couple of light cabinets in different parts of the room.

Studio apartment

The topic of zoning is also relevant for a studio apartment. A space without partitions requires a more active territorial division. Fashion for the studio came from the west, where rooms were built without kitchens for students. Small families feel quite comfortable in such apartments, especially if the design is made taking into account the wishes of all residents. When creating an interior, you will have to follow some rules:

  • it is necessary to create harmony in the common space, not to clutter it up with solid partitions, limited only to light, mobile ones.
  • It is necessary to maintain the airiness of the room, not to overload it with monolithic furniture.

  • Try to use transformers and modular designs.
  • The kitchen should organically fit into the overall design, and not look apart.

Carrying out repair work, preference should be given to natural eco-friendly materials, because all the time will have to be spent in the same room. In studio apartments, division into zones is especially important. Areas are separated depending on the functions (working, dining) and the need for private space (nursery). When choosing wallpaper with your child, do not be afraid that their bright pattern will not match the tone of the walls. Let the children's corner become a cheerful accent of the whole room.

It should be remembered that zoning takes place even at the stage of repair: wallpaper with a children's pattern is glued, a podium is allocated for a sleeping place, and the ceiling structure, equipped with spotlights, defines the boundaries of the working area. You can divide a room into functional components using color, curtains, partitions, furniture and lighting solutions, and light is taken into account, both artificial and natural. If the room is equipped with only one window, then all zones line up along an imaginary line to the right and left of it. Sunlight should fall on each of them, and not rest against the built partition. A dark corner is also suitable for a sleeping place.

As for artificial lighting, it is arranged in such a way that the lamps are present in each zone. This will help people go about their business without interfering with each other. In addition to ceiling spotlights, the work area is equipped with a table lamp, a resting place with a floor lamp, in the dining room a chandelier can be directly above the dining table, the bedroom area can be decorated with sconces. Where a child lives, bright light is needed for games and activities, a nightlight is needed for relaxation. The solemnity of the central chandelier is suitable for holidays and meeting guests.

Style decisions

It is difficult to achieve comfort, even by dividing the room into zones, placing beautiful furniture and hanging lamps. There is a feeling that each object "lives its own life", an atmosphere of discomfort is felt. To create a unified whole, style is needed. This is the core on which the entire disjointed interior rests. Styles have been formed over the centuries, and the modern world has adopted the most worthy of them and adapted them for themselves:

  • The historical ones include Art Nouveau, Empire, Baroque, Classicism, Gothic. They are echoes of the eras from which they came.
  • In the modern direction, high-tech, pop art, minimalism, loft styles are used. They reflect the spirit of our times.

photos

  • Ethnos is a direction that conveys the traditions and habits of various peoples. These include Scandinavian, Japanese, English, Provence (French), African.
  • Mixed styles include eclecticism, fusion, kitsch. These are unstable directions based on different design experiences.
  • The colonial style stands apart because it combines some historical and ethnic trends.

If we talk about the most popular stylistic trends for one-room apartments of 40 square meters. m, we can distinguish the following:

  • Classicism- expensive refined style, not ostentatious, like baroque. The main characteristic is real, time-tested comfort. Only natural materials, strict but expressive furniture, rich curtains falling to the floor, calm colors and active decor should be used.
  • Modern. The style is based on smooth lines, combines practicality and comfort. Furniture, appliances, decoration, decor - everything should be the best and unique, emphasizing the special taste of the owner.

  • Loft. The style of industrial premises originated in America during the Great Depression, when factory premises were given over to housing. A brick wall is a hallmark of style. Also characterized by large windows, simple furniture, and instead of decor - posters and graffiti.
  • Minimalism. Simple, but rather large forms of understandable geometry are used. Colors - white, black, all shades of gray. The decor is laconic.
  • Pop Art is a style of cheerful energetic youth. It will take a little money to create an interior, but bright colors and do-it-yourself decor made from plastic bottles will please you.

  • Provence. The style of the south of France is oversaturated with furniture and decor. We prefer only natural materials. The decor is very diverse: knitted blankets, ornamented tablecloths, ruffles, candlesticks, flowerpots, patterned pillows, fresh flowers on the windowsill.
  • Scandinavian the style is characterized by light, almost white tones. In the manufacture of furniture, natural wood is used. A rather unusual storage system is used: boxes, boxes, baskets lined up in rows on shelves. The design includes animal skins, candles, bright dishes.

Design example

Before proceeding with the design of an apartment of 40 square meters. m, you need to find out who it will serve and for what purpose. If a family with a child is planned to live, in addition to functional areas, private territories will be required for each. A lonely person can do without zones at all. Trusting the design of your apartment to a specialist, you should study the styles, listen to the designer's ideas, consider examples and decide on changes in your life.

The interior of the room for a man is made in the style of minimalism: it is strict and concise. The main design color is gray. It has many shades, goes well with other colors and emphasizes the masculine character.

A full-length window draped with plain curtains looks like a big sunspot. On the floor there is a light oak color laminate and a fluffy carpet reminiscent of dry grass. In the center of the room is a large white bed on light legs, as if floating above the floor. The headboard has black gloss panels. They fill the entire wall and contrast with the white bed. The theme of black gloss is supported by a bedside table and a large “plasma” on the opposite wall of the room. In the foreground is a tea table and a soft gray velor pouffe.

Of particular note are the lamps located on both sides of the headboard. They fall from the ceiling in thin, even lines and end with luminous "stars". The theme of strict romance is supported by a spyglass on a tripod. In general, the space looks laconic and strict, but dark glossy surfaces bring elements of elegance and charm to the interior.

The kitchen, continuing the theme of the living room, is made in black. The gloomy color is diluted with light shades: a white countertop by the window, large floor tiles and a beige mosaic wall covering. A sufficient amount of light enters through the window, giving softness to the black tones of the interior. The homogeneous surface structure of the furniture is combined with the bubbly texture of the individual inserts. The same theme is supported by a two-tone fume hood.

Despite the small size of the room and the apparent simplicity of the interior, all designs are practical, there is a capacious storage system. The working area is moved to the side of the window. The square sink is equipped with two mixers: for washing dishes and for supplying drinking water. The lower level cabinets have a large number of drawers and an oven. On the opposite wall there is a capacious structure with a complete absence of handles. The hidden "push-to-open" system allows you to open the doors with a light touch of your hand. There is a refrigerator built into the closet against the wall adjacent to the window. The same design contains a showcase and additional drawers.

Ceiling lighting is represented by three spotlights. Several rounded lamps hang on long mounts above the work surface. The accents of the entire interior are two scarlet cylindrical stools with built-in drawers. The coffee machine and sugar bowl on the desktop are made in the same red color.

The combined bathroom turned out to be bright and calm. The walls are decorated with classic beige tiles. The floor was pleasantly pleased with a bright ornament. Bathtub, toilet bowl and washbasin are traditionally white. The highlight of the interior was an openwork wrought-iron stand for a washbasin.

The entrance hall is made in the loft style. The brick wall is painted gray and beige. The atmosphere itself looks uncomplicated, with a touch of brutality. Here there is a simple wardrobe with a large mirror, next to it on a gray surface there is an open shelf and a hanger. Against an empty framed wall, there is an incomprehensible structure on a metal base with eight drawers that could fit shoes. The accents are two yellow lamps and a bucket with a soft lid instead of a seat.

A space of 40 square meters cannot be called too small. But if this is the only room in your house, you will have to try to fit everything you need in it.

It is equally important to ensure the creation of a harmonious design in each zone of such a room, as well as to choose functional elements of furniture and appliances, thanks to which you can feel comfortable.

See how you can solve the problem of such an arrangement, in the photo of the design of a one-room apartment of 40 sq m in a modern style.

Layout features

To make the interior of a one-room apartment cozy for you, consider for what purposes different areas of the room will be used. Often these apartments have a separate kitchen, as well as a separate bathroom. But you may also face the need to design a one-room studio apartment, where the kitchen is combined with living space.

How to properly use free space in such conditions? Start with a plan for a one-room apartment of 40 sq.

Zoning of a one-room apartment of 40 sq. m, photo

Most often there are two types of layout of a one-room apartment:

  • living room combined with bedroom + kitchen and bathroom;
  • a studio-type room with a zone for receiving guests, relaxing, cooking + a bathroom.

In both the first and second versions of the layouts of one-room apartments, it is necessary to consider how to expand the space, as well as how to isolate individual zones, if necessary.

The simplest way of zoning is the use of partitions. Firstly, you can use different materials for their construction, so you have additional decoration options. Secondly, some types of partitions are fashionable to move, so you can change the layout of the room if necessary.

photo, how to divide into two zones

The second option is the installation of sliding doors that save space. Sliding, as well as folding doors are suitable for decorating the kitchen and bathroom.

Advice: if the bathroom also has a small area, remove the wall between the toilet and the bathroom. So you will have additional square meters for arrangement.

Separate, for example, the area of the bedroom and the hall, you can use high furniture (bookcase or dressing room). At the same time, your interior will not lose its functionality. It is advisable to place separating furniture against the wall, and not in the center of the room, so as not to create additional barriers to moving around the apartment.

The next idea for this type of apartment design is a podium. Most often it is designed in the sleeping area. It can easily accommodate a bed or work area, and inside you can organize a storage system.

Also, the isolation of individual zones in a single space can be provided with the help of curtains.

To make the interior feel more spacious, choose a color zoning technique. Plan a design project for a one-room apartment with a harmonious combination of different colors and materials - and it will be visually easier to determine for what purpose each part of the room is used.

For those who are lucky enough to have a balcony in a one-room apartment, additional opportunities open up. Firstly, you can arrange a reading room or a relaxation area there. Secondly, you can demolish the wall separating it from the room - and add a few square meters to the interior. Here you can arrange a dining area or extend part of the living room to the balcony.

Principles of finishing an apartment of 40 squares

Before starting the repair of a one-room apartment, it is necessary to decide on the finishing materials. Today, specialized stores are overflowing with finishing coatings for every taste, so when buying it is better to focus on their quality and wear resistance, as well as decorative features.

Modern apartment renovation ideas include finishing that corresponds to the following style directions:

Attention! Finishing the apartment should not overload the interior. Large ornaments on the walls, embossed ceilings and other eye-catching details visually reduce the free space.

Finishing one-room apartment 40 square meters, photo

For renovation of a one-room apartment, you can invite specialists. But to make the interior stylish and modern, it is not necessary to turn to designers, as you can master this science on your own.

Linoleum, laminate or parquet are most often placed on the floor. If this is a studio-type room, you can highlight the kitchen area with tiles that will be more practical. Instead of carpet in a modern interior, it is better to use decorative floor mats.

Ceilings in modern design are made stretch, suspended, painted or decorated with plaster.

Decorate the walls with wallpaper, decorative panels, if necessary, and in the kitchen area with tiles or wallpaper coatings that are resistant to fire, moisture, steam and other influences.

What furniture to place in a one-room room

An important component of the design of a one-room apartment of 40 square meters is its furnishing. Stylish and functional furniture should be in harmony with the decoration of the room. In addition, it should be quite compact, since there will be a lot of it in an apartment from one room.

That is why, for example, a large number of storage sections in a one-room room are replaced by a convenient wardrobe. It can be placed against the wall: here it will not interfere with you, while you can hide everything you need inside, save space due to sliding doors, and also provide an opportunity to take care of yourself if the doors are mirrored.

Advice: An excellent option for large families is corner cabinets of this type, which allow rational use of the space between adjacent walls.

The next major piece of furniture that will be present in such apartments is the bed. Of course, you can use the sofa for similar functions, but it is more correct to equip a full-fledged relaxation area with the possibility of isolation. If it is important for you to save space, and you are not ready to put an overall double bed - choose folding models that are converted when there is no need for rest.

In the design of a one-room apartment of 40 m2, a lot of space can be occupied by elements of technology. Therefore, choose multifunctional and practical models. Hang the TV on the wall, place the music center in one of the shelves. Here you will store small items that are important in everyday life.

Decorate your living room or dining area with folding tables and chairs to optimize space. By the way, instead of a large table, you can put a bar in the kitchen: it will play the role of a space separator, a surface for cooking and eating food. In addition, a stylish bar counter will emphasize the showiness of home design.

Make the kitchen work area angular or linear, depending on how many work surfaces you need.

note that a powerful hood should be installed in a studio-type room so that when cooking you do not feel discomfort in other areas of the room.

If the kitchen is a separate room, there will be much more ideas for implementation. In addition, you do not have to choose furniture that matches the style of the living room.

Of course, other items will be present in the interior of a one-room apartment. Therefore, we advise you to take a closer look at the examples of apartment design in the photo in order to understand what methods the authors of the projects used to use the free space correctly.

Decorative ideas for creating a comfortable environment

In the modern design of the apartment, there should be details that will make it special. First of all, these are lighting elements: given the versatility of such rooms, it is better to make it multi-level. So think about how to combine built-in lamps, elegant floor lamps and table lighting and chandeliers, decorated in non-standard forms, characteristic of modern style.

Decorate free walls in such a room with family photos, paintings to match the style of the interior, clocks and other accessories.

One of the walls in the living room can be made accent: for this purpose, use a decorative stone or photo wallpaper with a panoramic or 3-D effect that can visually increase the free area.

Large mirrors can be an excellent decor option. They also allow you to increase the space and maintain an atmosphere of lightness and freedom in the living room. It is advisable to position the mirror so that it reflects the living area.

What else can be used to make a one-room apartment stylish? For example, use glass: you can make shelves, partitions, tables and even doors out of it.

If there is free space, put a small number of indoor plants.

Design of a one-room apartment of 40 sq. m: interior photo

Place decorative pillows on the sofa or bed. And decorate the windows with light curtains of gentle tones, which will make the interior cramped and gloomy.

Finally, we will tell you about a few more ways to ensure free space in the room. First, choose colors so that they do not contradict each other. It is advisable to give preference to pastel shades.

Secondly, equip the interior with materials with a glossy surface. It is also worth abandoning sharp-angled objects in favor of design elements with more rounded shapes.

To make the room look spacious, it should have enough light. Therefore, in the absence of panoramic windows and a large amount of natural light, it is necessary to take care of additional lamps.

All these simple solutions will help you make the best use of the square meters of a small one-room apartment. And, most importantly, you will feel quite comfortable, even though you are forced to organize several functional areas in one interior at once.

Not everyone can afford to buy large apartments. Many are content with small spaces. That is why a one-room apartment of 40 sq. m. is a fairly common type of housing in which a full-fledged family of three can easily get along.

The main problem of a small-sized living space is the need for a rational organization of usable space. However, despite its small size, a studio apartment of 40 sq. m. It is possible to organize it in such a way, after which you get a comfortable functional space that has its own unique style and appearance.

The beginning of work on the arrangement of the odnushki

The beginning of the repair of an apartment of 40 sq. m. it is worth starting with the development of the project. If there is no opportunity to turn to professional designers, then simple sketches with a pencil on a paper canvas will be enough to make approximate calculations and plan the usable space conveniently.

When drawing up a project, pay attention to the following points:

  • a budget that already includes funds for contingencies;
  • design features of the room, including all niches, ledges, crossbeams, etc.;
  • the number of households who live on the square permanently, taking into account their needs and desires;
  • chosen stylistic concept;
  • location of the main furniture groups and accessories.

Zoning techniques

Since an area of 40 squares cannot be called very large, and people living on them want to feel comfortable, when organizing the layout of an apartment of 40 square meters. m. it is recommended to use zoning techniques.

The erection of a partition in order to visually and practically delimit functional areas. It is possible to build a plasterboard structure that would cover the area not completely, but only by 40 percent.

Racks with open through sections. Such shelves will easily accommodate your favorite book editions, nice souvenir gizmos and other accessories.

And by purchasing plastic boxes that imitate rattan boxes, you can store even linen sets or clothes on such racks. At the same time, the general view of such a furniture structure will not look bulky, and the room will not be cluttered.

The podium is not only a zoning tool, but also a very functional solution. This design very clearly divides the space, and in combination with the curtains on it, it is possible to hide the placed bed from prying eyes.

From a constructive point of view, the podium is good because the floor space is used as a full-fledged roomy storage system.

Styling of small spaces

A simple principle for designing an apartment of 40 square meters. m. is to use light colors. It is on the basis of this condition that the styles of the room are selected, among which the most suitable are:

Classicism with its correct forms and symmetry, proportions are clearly observed here. Delicate wallpaper canvases are suitable for finishing wall surfaces; it is better to lay parquet or laminate on the floor.

Minimalist trends are good for their right angles and simple shapes. These styles exclude pretentiousness, the palette of tones is light, with the inclusion of bright details.

Loft styling with an industrial character will come in handy for a small living space.

Choice of furniture groups

When choosing furniture for a small odnushka, it should be understood that standard furniture groups are simply inappropriate here. The most suitable models will be modular combinations that can be selected according to the desired dimensions, and the equipment will meet all requirements.

Modules are good because all items have the same style, so that the whole design concept will be a single whole.

Another very roomy and useful thing in the interior of a 40-meter odnushka is a closet built from the floor to the very ceiling.

It is most convenient to use transforming furniture in small areas. Among such items, a folding table that turns into a storage system, a bed that can be used as a sofa during the day, or a model that is removed in the daytime in a closet as in the photo of an apartment of 40 sq. m., etc.

As for placement, in the sleeping area it is better to place the bed near the window opening. At the same time, it is advisable to replace ordinary curtains with short, light curtains and blinds.

When equipping the kitchen, preference should be given to multifunctional sets made of light glossy materials. The light reflected from such surfaces will fill the space with air, creating the illusion of a spacious room.

In the corner of the kitchen area you can place a soft sofa and a rounded dining table.

To separate the kitchen and guest areas, it is possible to use a compact wooden partition, which will serve as an installation for television equipment.

By placing a small soft sofa and a compact table in the guest area, you can organize a cozy space for receiving guests and having a good time.

Dynamics and individuality will help to bring bright accessories, aquariums, elegant canvases of paintings suitable for the style of the interior into the interior composition.

Photo apartment 40 sq. m.

Choosing a design for a one-room apartment is the most difficult. Even if its area is quite decent against the backdrop of smart studios 40 squares. It is necessary to correctly select materials and furniture, not to miscalculate with style, to think over zoning. It is not so easy to make one room comfortable, cozy and beautiful at the same time. But we will try to cope with this task!

Zoning and combining space

Zoning is the easiest way to make a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m. maximally functional. For this, several methods are used.

Static partitions

Static drywall partitions can replace a full-fledged interior wall. Then you can build a hidden storage system for things in them. It's more expensive, but much more practical. A low partition can be used as a shelf, dining or work area, bar counter.

Screens and movable partitions

If you do not need a permanent partition, choose a folding mobile one. It is easy to set up and remove as needed. Especially often graceful light screens are used in oriental interiors.

Arches and drywall structures

All drywall constructions perform two tasks at once: functional and decorative. Unlike partitions, they are not necessarily solid. To designate zones, sometimes a symbolic semi-arch is enough.

Structures can be not only vertical. An interesting technique is the podiums. Low backlit ones will visually separate the zone. And you can hide things in tall ones.

Consolidation of premises

Competent zoning is not only the construction of new partitions, but also the demolition of everything unnecessary.
- Combine a separate bathroom to make it more spacious. Plumbing, furniture, a washing machine and other useful little things will fit perfectly there;
- Insulate the balcony and demolish the partition with the room or kitchen to get some more valuable space. It is also a win-win way to get rid of the habit of storing junk deposits there;
- Do you prefer an open layout and large, spacious rooms? Combine a room with a kitchen into one large studio. The loft is based on this principle.

Furniture

Classic chests of drawers and pencil cases are not very convenient for zoning. But double-sided cabinets, open through shelves, elongated bar counters or work areas - all this is suitable for delimiting space in a one-room apartment.

Textiles and textures

Curtains and curtains are an alternative to mobile partitions. But keep in mind that you need to correctly hide the cornice in the ceiling structure, and the fabric itself will have to be washed regularly.

Small rugs, bedspreads, blankets - all this is used to designate zones. Another classic technique is the play of textures in the decoration. Textured plaster is combined with brickwork, paint with wallpaper, and laminate with tiles.

Finishes and materials

All modern materials have their advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, be guided by your own preferences and budget.

Floor

The optimal combination of price and quality is given by laminate and linoleum. Modern brands compare favorably with those that were found in homes ten years ago. Just choose the right wear resistance class.

For the hallway, bathroom and kitchen, pay attention to tiles and artificial stone, and parquet is still relevant for the room. Decorate separate areas with soft and cozy decorative carpets - they are warm, and cleaning them is much more convenient than a large carpet for the whole room.

Walls

Walls in new apartments are increasingly simply painted. It is easy and practical, and in the future they can always be refreshed or repainted. The main thing is to choose the right type of paint. If you prefer more traditional options, choose wallpaper or cladding panels. There are entire collections designed for other materials: stone, brick, wood.

Don't forget the tiles. If it is too cold and boring for the living room, then there is still nothing better for the bathroom and kitchen.

Ceiling

Stretch ceilings and plasterboard structures are the simplest and most affordable modern solution. They have two main advantages: you do not need to thoroughly level the base, and you can also hide communications and mount lamps inside such a ceiling.

If the ceilings in your apartment are even, just whiten or paint them. This is a classic trick that will never get old. Also pay attention to the ceiling tiles. They are especially useful in functional areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Furniture arrangement

There are two main techniques for arranging furniture in a one-room apartment: along the walls or in islands. An area of 40 squares allows you to experiment.

1. Put cabinets and upholstered furniture against the walls if you need more free space in the center. For example, for sports or games with a child.
2. Choose an island layout if you prefer trendy and modern zoning. This option is especially good if you need to combine several different zones in a room.

To save space, install built-in and modular designs or modern storage systems. And if there is a pantry, save it so as not to occupy the main room.

Color solutions

The choice of colors depends on the style of the interior. One-room apartment 40 sq.m. spacious enough to try different solutions. But at the same time, it is better to maintain a single style so that the room looks harmonious.

Bright hues

Light shades are for you if you love modern styles, minimalism, hi-tech, Scandinavian and eco-trends. The room will immediately become more light and air. It is not necessarily white - warm and cold shades of gray, milky and creamy, dusty white, all variations of beige, bleached pastels are in fashion.

Dark tones

Dark colors are always style and elegance. Pay attention to black gloss, ash black, dark shades of blue, green and purple, burgundy, woody shades, graphite. Depending on the interpretation, they will fit into any interior.

But keep in mind that dark design necessarily requires competent lighting. And the smaller the area of \u200b\u200bthe room, the more important it is.

Bright accents

Designers use colorful accents for zoning and decoration. For example, a painted wall, a bright carpet or sofa, small accessories, furniture fronts.

In the modern interior of a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m. juicy neon shades of salad, lemon, pink will organically fit in. In classic combinations, red, emerald, sapphire, turquoise are used. Fashion is now eclectic, including in interiors, so you can not limit yourself!

Proper lighting

Light is one of the most powerful design tools. In a one-room apartment 40 sq.m. it is used for zoning and visual increase in space.

Sophisticated lighting is on trend. There are four levels in such systems:
- Upper ceiling: chandeliers, spots, built-in lamps;
- Medium: suspended and hinged structures, including sconces and ceiling lamps on long suspensions;
- Lower: local lighting, illumination of niches, work area, floor lamps by the bed, etc.;
- Internal: lighting shelves, cabinets, built-in structures.

Interior style for an apartment of 40 sq.m.

When designing a one-room apartment, it is better to observe the unity of style. Or use currents that are harmoniously combined with each other, and combine them with separate common elements.

Minimalistic design

Minimalism is a modern classic. There is nothing superfluous in it: only practicality, conciseness and functionality.

In a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m. minimalism allows you to get the most out of it, and at the same time feel comfortable. Choose built-in structures, light colors, thoughtful multi-level lighting.

Modern style

Modern style or contemporary in the interior is all that is needed for convenience and comfort, it is elegant and functional at the same time. It combines the features of different trends: classics, minimalism, modernity, constructivism. Natural textures and shades are combined with modern shapes and multifunctional designs.

Loft

Loft is creative freedom. It is especially good if you combine a room with a kitchen or a balcony. A large free space and a minimum of furniture is what you need for a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m.

The loft actively uses raw textures, open communications, bare brick and concrete walls. Furniture and details can be completely eclectic. Therefore, a loft-style apartment is always individual and special.

Eco design

Eco-style is, first of all, the rejection of synthetic materials. Natural wood finishes, stone, a lot of greenery, rough natural textures of textiles - all this fits perfectly into eco-trends.

Use natural colors: if green - then grassy or mossy, blue - sea wave or night sky. All shades of sand, warm gray, brown are popular, but sterile white or deaf black are not in use.

Neoclassic

No classics anywhere! But traditional rococo, baroque and their variations require space and an abundance of details. This is not always convenient in a one-room apartment.

But the neoclassic looks fresh and interesting. Carved elements, luxurious chandeliers, stucco, expensive textiles, curly legs - all this is combined with clean lines, laconic geometry and simple proportions.

Admiring huge houses with chic design while living in a small apartment is a familiar situation for many. But the harsh reality is that not everyone can afford housing with a large area, preferring small spaces. Modern interior design continues to prove that this is not such a bad option. Even in a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m. you can create a cozy and comfortable "nest", and we will tell you how to do it.

Features of the design of "small-sized"

Apartments with a small area are a special "client" that requires an appropriate approach. To begin with, it is necessary to determine who will live in the apartment: a young bachelor or a large family? In the first case, an open-plan space is perfect, in which there is no need to design separate private areas. In the second - everything is a little more complicated, but not so hopeless. Proper zoning of the room with the help of curtains, partitions of different heights and functional furniture will help divide the area so that there is enough space for everyone.

The next step is to decide on the style. A small apartment here also makes special demands. It is better to give preference to a style that does not involve a large amount of furniture and decor - they “eat up” precious meters of an already small room. For example, a classic style or Provence will look ridiculous, but minimalism or a loft can expand the space and adapt to the specifics of the layout.

In modern interior design, there are already many clever tricks that will visually enlarge a small area. For example, mirrored surfaces create the effect of a "second dimension" and seem to extend the room. Light colors do not create a border, while dark tones, on the contrary, can narrow the apartment. But that doesn't mean you should be afraid of black and avoid it at all costs - with proper planning, it can give an interior a mature feel without affecting the space.

Owners of high windows should definitely take advantage of this and, if possible, do not create barriers to natural light - it is better if it fills the entire room.

A little piece of advice in the end - do not fill the apartment with unnecessary things, but it is better to get by with only the most necessary things.

One-room apartments 40 m2 - photo

To better consolidate the material, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the bright design projects of apartments, in which all of the above recommendations are embodied.

The designers of the Volgograd studio Solo Design managed to stylishly and harmoniously design this “odnushka”. On a small area of 40 square meters, they placed a bedroom, kitchen, living room and work area, using the principle of zoning.

Due to the absence of massive partitions and walls, the apartment visually seems larger and does not create a feeling of isolation. The bedroom is separated from the rest of the space by a curtain, while being its continuation.

The principle of open space made it possible to use muted dark colors even in housing with such a small square. But in this case, gray walls and black pieces of furniture, instead of reducing the space, create a cozy atmosphere. And large windows let in natural light and fill the room with “air”.

2. Brutal loft in a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m.

Another example of not being afraid of dark shades. The object is located in Moscow and is a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m. with loft elements. The project was developed by the design studio Int2Architecture, which faced a difficult task: to create a stylish and presentable housing for rent in a short time.

The limited budget only complicated the implementation, but the designers used non-standard solutions and designed the housing as stylishly and cheaply as possible.

Painting of brick walls, open wiring, concrete ceiling - all this allowed us to save on finishing and get closer to the loft style. The interior contains unusual vintage pieces of furniture - like dining chairs or a sink stand that were bought at a flea market.

There are practically no massive partitions in the apartment and all residential areas are presented in one space. But because of this, the feeling of a heap of objects is not created - thanks to the holistic style and the rejection of the traditional large kitchen.

3. A cozy nest - the design of a one-room apartment of 40 sq.m.

Unlike the previous project from Int2Architecture, this apartment is made in bright colors and designed for a comfortable stay for a young couple.

The designers used the principle of rational zoning, thanks to which they managed to create zones for the kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom and study - and all this, we recall, in a small one-room apartment of 40 sq.m.!

The project implemented many interesting ideas for a small area. For example, a bedroom with an office was combined into one zone and placed on a pedestal, which includes additional storage space. A high partition separates the private area from the living area, but does not create barriers to the penetration of natural light. The mobile dining area is easily moved, opening up additional space.

A wonderful project implemented by designer Evgenia Ostrovskaya is an apartment in Danilovskaya Manufactory in Moscow. The task of spacious design of such housing was complicated by the fact that this is an attic, which means that part of the room is narrowed due to the sloping ceiling. On the other hand, the attic space looks cozy and opens up new possibilities for planning.

The loft style for interior design was chosen for a reason: it fits perfectly into the atmosphere of the attic and allows you to enter functional and practical details. So, transforming furniture was used to expand the area. Next to the front door is a storage system that flows into the kitchen area. The presence of mirrors on the cabinets visually expands the space.

The designer managed to place everything necessary for life here, and even a fireplace - it would seem that an unaffordable luxury for such a small-sized "odnushka".

5. One-room apartment 40 sq.m. for a family of three

It seems that a small one-room apartment is definitely not suitable for a comfortable stay of a mother with two children, when each family member needs personal space. But the designer Irina Ezhova decided to prove that this was not so, and offered her own solutions to the problem.

It all started with a redevelopment: a podium was erected in the only room, where a sleeping and working place was located for one of the children. The zone is isolated with functional cabinets of different heights, and the hill itself is also suitable for storing things.

For the second child, the loggia was insulated and turned into a place for rest and work.

The hostess uses a folding sofa at night as a bed.

Light colors and a multi-level lighting system fill the interior of this apartment with space and variety, visually enlarging a small area.

The Ukrainian studio Rover Building Company has shown that it is possible to create a functional and bright interior even in a small one-room apartment. Colorful design, as well as cozy decor elements “enliven” the space and let you forget about its area – only 40 m2.

Studio layout is a great option for this type of housing. The absence of walls is compensated by low partitions.

As in other projects, the bedroom was placed on a pedestal here, enclosing it with a glass wall. On the one hand, such a design does not create obstacles, and on the other hand, it draws a smooth border between residential and private areas.
