Assembly and installation of windows. Do-it-yourself installation of plastic windows: a step-by-step process of installing plastic windows. Incorrect distance between the window frame and the slope

The fact that plastic windows are much more reliable, more durable and more economical than wooden counterparts has been proven in practice. But the main problem that people who want to replace old frames face is the high cost of transporting and installing new structures. Even a novice master can carry out the installation on his own. It is only necessary to know the nuances and tricks of the upcoming work. And it is more reasonable to install a new frame on anchor plates.

Figure 1. Scheme of the formation of anchor fasteners.

Basic principles of installation

Now there are 2 ways of mounting windows, which differ in the type of fastening unit and the method of fixing the frame to the window opening. This is a montage with and without unpacking. For self-installation of the window, it is wiser to choose the 2nd option, since it is simpler, does not require special skills, and the work does not take much time. In addition, it helps to avoid errors during installation and allows you to easily configure all fittings.

Installation without unpacking does not mean removing the glazing bead and dismantling the double-glazed window from the frame. The structure itself is attached to the anchor plates. The principle of formation of such fasteners is shown in Fig. one.

Before installing a new window, it is necessary to choose the right plates themselves. They come in 2 types: universal and designed for a specific model. That is, they take into account the requirements of a particular profile system. As a rule, such anchor plates are included with complex, non-standard designs.

Figure 2. The layout of the anchor plates during installation.

Specialized fasteners differ from universal ones in that they are equipped with ears. These elements are installed in the groove of the frame profile and fixed with self-tapping screws. Universal plates do not have special ears. They are simply fixed with bolts.

For the installation of window structures, experts recommend choosing bolts of the 4.5 * 25 type. Their body must be equipped with a metal drill. Since the self-tapping screw is attached to a reinforced structure, another type of fastening may not stand up or fix the plate not too securely.

Window installation rules

The central plate is fixed exactly in the middle of the frame, and the side plates are fixed approximately at a distance of 20-25 cm from the edge of the structure.

As mentioned above, the method of installing a plastic window without unpacking does not require removing the glazing bead and the double-glazed window itself. This becomes possible due to the fact that the frame is fixed with anchor plates to the outside of the window opening. Otherwise, you have to form through fasteners.

Figure 3. Scheme of the installation of the ebb.

But it must be remembered that large-sized structures (with an area of \u200b\u200bmore than 4 m 2) should not be installed using plates. After all, such a mount may not withstand the weight of the window. In this case, it is more reasonable to use anchor dowels. For plastic double-glazed windows of small or medium size, plates will become the most rational way of fastening.

With the help of dowels, not only large windows are attached, but also doors. Professionals believe that this installation method is the most reliable. But it has a number of significant drawbacks:

  1. Installation with unpacking is difficult even for specialists. Often, with this method of installation, the double-glazed window breaks or cracks form on it.
  2. Installation on anchor bolts is almost impossible to do alone.
  3. Working with such fasteners requires experience and special skills.
  4. Work requires more effort and time.

If you prefer this installation option, then you need to purchase dowels with a size of 10 * 132 mm. In addition, a powerful hammer drill is required for the installation of anchors. Some modern stores selling equipment for construction and repair provide a rental service. Therefore, it is not necessary to buy an expensive device. But it is easier to install the window on the plates.

Installing a window with plates

To carry out the work you will need the following tools:

  • electric hammer drill (or drill with impact function);
  • screwdriver;
  • hacksaw (it is wiser to use a jigsaw);
  • hex key for adjusting fittings;
  • anchor plates (5 pcs.);
  • bolts (self-tapping screws);
  • polyurethane foam in cylinders;
  • silicone in cylinders (and a gun to work with it).

Don't forget to have your measuring tools ready. You will need a centimeter tape measure, a building level and a square. All necessary marks can be put with a simple pencil. As a rule, traces of it can be wiped off plastic with ordinary dishwashing detergent. When everything you need is prepared, you can start installing windows.

When installing the plates, the following rules must be observed:

  1. For fixing, use only mechanical fasteners (self-tapping screws). Never use glue or foam.
  2. When forming holes for fastenings, use the impact mechanism only if the slope is made of concrete.
  3. The drill must be long enough. Make sure that the drill chuck does not damage the window frame. The edge can be protected by placing a piece of PVC next to the hole to be drilled.
  4. If the wall is made of bricks with vertical voids, then the hole must be formed in the seam between the blocks. The solution will "hold" the mount securely enough.
  5. To install self-tapping screws, it is better to use a screwdriver with a torque limiter. This will allow you to control how the fastener enters the frame and the depth of its penetration.

Following these simple principles will help you mount a window without errors that will be difficult to fix.

Installing frame mounts

First you need to fix the anchor plates themselves. At the same time, make sure that the distance from 1 plate to another does not exceed 1 m. If you are going to install a high window, then it is wiser to put an additional mounting unit.

At the same time, the distance of the extreme elements from the corner of the window structure should be 20-25 cm. It no longer makes sense to do it. Since in this case the frame may lose stability.

Remember that the self-tapping screw with which the plate is fixed on the window must be equipped with a drill.

These bolts are usually marked "for metal". This need is explained by the fact that the window is covered with plastics only from the outside. Inside the structure is an aluminum profile.

If you want to use conventional bolts, then you need to pre-form holes in the frame. To do this, you will need a drill and a drill bit for metal. Make sure that the socket is 1 mm smaller than the diameter of the self-tapping screw.

Anchor plates, if necessary, can be replaced with universal U-shaped brackets with a size of 125 mm. Such fasteners are usually used when installing gypsum boards. But it is wiser to use ready-made anchor plates.

Window frame installation

The distance from the window frame to the opening in the wall should be 2-3.5 cm. If the gap is smaller, then it is necessary to form recesses in the slopes for installing fasteners. This is done in the following way:

  1. Install fasteners on the window.
  2. Mount the frame in the opening intended for it.
  3. Mark the location of the plates on the wall. To do this, use a simple pencil or chalk.
  4. Remove the window and select a bed with a chisel. Its depth should not exceed 2 cm, but the plate must fit tightly into it and not protrude beyond the edges.

This technique will help in the further finishing of the window opening. Since the anchor plates do not have to be “hidden” under an additional (rather thick) layer of plaster.

Next, you need to insert the frame into the opening and align its position. To do this, you will need wooden wedges, which must be prepared in advance. The thickness of the wedges should be 0.7-3 cm. The wedges must be installed only under the horizontal beams of the structure, while aligning the window vertically. Constantly check the position of the frame using the building level. In order to achieve the correct installation of the window, if necessary, several wedges of different thicknesses can be put in 1 place at once.

Then you should fix the plates on the window opening. To fix the mount on a concrete or brick slope, dowels 6 * 40 are usually used. For wooden slopes, it is wiser to take self-tapping screws designed for woodworking. In this case, fasteners with a size of 4.2 * 45 are suitable for you.

In order to prevent the frame from warping during installation, the plates are fixed in series. As a rule, start the installation from the lower left corner, and then fix the lower right. In this case, it is constantly necessary to check the correct installation using the building level. In the process of work, you can accidentally push or move the frame. And an incorrectly installed frame will make it difficult to debug the position of the valves and install fittings. Lastly, the top plates are fixed.

Previously, only wooden windows were installed in houses, but nowadays not only wooden windows are produced, but also.

And in the modern world, people often began to install plastic windows in their houses or apartments. So you, at some point, decided that wooden windows no longer hold heat so well, freeze through and look, let's say, not very attractive, and for this reason you decided to change wooden windows to plastic ones.

Installation of plastic windows is not easy, so this work is best left to specialists. But, if you are sure that you are able to install windows yourself or you have some experience in installing such windows, then you can install windows yourself.

That's just how to properly install a plastic window, we will tell further.

The positive quality of installing plastic windows on your own is that you will do it more carefully than many specialized workers. Still, if you do not have the skills to install such windows and have never seen how they do it, then it is best to use the services of specialized workers.

When is the best time to install plastic windows?

Installation of plastic windows can also be carried out in winter, but in the event that the outside air temperature is not less than minus five degrees. Otherwise, you need to install a special heat shield.

window measurement

Before purchasing a new plastic window, you need to make measurements of the window opening and, according to the data received, buy a finished window or place an order for window manufacturing. When you order a window according to your size, it will fit perfectly into the opening of your window accordingly.

The window should not fit tightly into the opening, there should be a small gap between the window and the opening, as it needs to expand or contract, this will depend on temperature changes.

clearance requirements

The minimum dimensions of the gaps should be:

  • Window up to 1m 20 cm indent should be 15 mm;
  • Window up to 2 m 20 cm indentation is 20 mm;
  • Window up to 3 m indent is 25mm.

When you replace a window, you need to take into account that the window should only fit into the window opening by a certain number of centimeters. This is necessary so that the double-glazed window is not in the wall and in order to make slopes.

All measurements were taken, all the nuances were taken into account, and as a result, the required size of the window profile was obtained. Now you can go to the company and order a window or take a ready-made one that suits your parameters.

Dismantling the old window and preparing the opening

After you have already bought a window and the weather allows its installation, then you can do its installation. It must be borne in mind that all work will be quite dusty, so it is better to remove all things or cover with a film.

After you have done all the preparatory work, start dismantling the old window, and in order to remove the old window, use a chisel, pry bar and hammer.

Before installing a plastic window, it is necessary to clean the window opening well from dirt and moisten it a little.

Then you can start preparing the window for installation.

Installing a plastic window

Before installing the window profile, the sashes are removed from the window and the double-glazed windows are removed from the deaf parts of the window. Then it is necessary to peel off the protective tapes outside the profile and install the protective caps in the drain holes. We fasten fasteners for mosquito nets on self-tapping screws.

Profile insulation

If you decide to make anchors as fasteners, then the profile is drilled through and therefore the chambers are depressurized. Also, fastening windows to anchors requires more labor and skill, and for this reason, such fastening is not suitable for beginners. If the profile is not fixed correctly, it can lead, and if it does, the window will be damaged.

But anchoring also has positive qualities, for example, the design will be durable. But the negative quality of the mounting plates is that they do not provide good structural strength. But mounting plates are the easiest way to fix plastic windows. Very often, specialists use both types of mounts.

  1. Usually we start fastening from the corner and at a distance of 120-150 mm we make the first fastener and then with a distance of 700 mm we make the next fastener. Three fasteners are installed on each side.
  2. Before installing the profile in the opening, it is necessary to check all planes with a level, then with the help of wooden bars it is necessary to raise the profile and adjust it vertically.
  3. It is necessary to start vertically from the top of the window opening and raise the profile from below using the materials described above. The next step is to align the profile horizontally. Fixing the profile in the opening on the side and top is made of wooden blades. After you have done alignment on all sides, you need to make a profile and if everything is in order, then you can fix it.
  4. If you fix the window profile to the mounting plates, then they are first fixed to one dowel nail. The next step is to check the window profile with a level, and only after that the mounting plate is fixed with a second dowel with a nail.
  5. In the event that the windows are attached to the anchor, then through the holes that were previously made and then using a special tool, make holes in the wall and screw the anchor in without tightening them.
  6. The anchors are not tightened in order to check the window installation level, and only then can the anchors be tightened, but very slowly so as not to disturb the balance of the profile. When the profile is fixed, we remove the wooden blades from the sides and top, and the lower blades remain, because they are the basis of the window profile.

How to install ebbs on plastic windows?

The next step of the work is the installation of the ebb.

We measure it and use metal scissors to cut out the desired size, then a special tape is glued to the bottom of the frame, it is needed to protect the seam between the wall and the bottom of the window.

After the tape is glued, a layer is applied to it. Also, a layer of mounting foam is applied to the edge of the slab, this is necessary in order to ensure the sealing of the ebb. The ebb must go into the grooves of the profile and is attached with self-tapping screws.

Seam sealing

Then, with mounting foam, we close the seam between the wall and the window (first from one side, then from the other and from above). After the foam has dried, another insulation tape is glued on top of it. From the inside of the window, it is necessary to remove the protective tape and use special linings when installing the double-glazed window.

With the help of the slats, they hold the double-glazed window, drive the slats into the grooves and install the sash, fix it in the canopies, then fix the handle and adjust the sash horizontally and vertically. After all work, a mosquito net is installed.

How to install a window sill on plastic windows?

After all the work, we begin the installation of the window sill.

  • First, we fill the lower mounting seam well with foam, and a tape is glued on top of it.
  • Then they install wooden blocks on which the window sill will be attached.
  • Wooden blocks must be at least ten centimeters. Also, the window sill should be tilted five degrees towards the room, and the window sill should not obscure the battery.
  • It is necessary to check whether the window sill is securely attached and it is necessary to solder it from below and, best of all, with mounting foam.

In this article, we talked about how to install a plastic window and we hope that this information was useful to you. Good luck and be patient!

Have you decided to replace old wooden windows with plastic ones? Of course, it is better to entrust this matter to professionals, since the installation of plastic windows carries many nuances, if they are not observed, the windows may not retain heat, be not airtight, close poorly and fog up. If you are sure that you will cope with this task, then we will talk about the nuances of installing PVC windows in this article.

The content of the article:

Organizational matters

The advantage of self-installation of plastic windows is that you yourself will do it much more scrupulously than most installation teams, who sin by non-compliance with GOST when installing windows. But again, we repeat that if you have never seen it visually and are not familiar with the process of installing plastic windows, order the installation from specialists.

When is the best time to install uPVC windows?

It is best to replace windows in the warm season, from May to September. Perform installation work in dry weather; in rainy weather, this is highly discouraged. Many are interested in the question: do they install plastic windows in winter? It is possible to install plastic windows in winter, but this is not recommended for a number of reasons. If you bought a new apartment and plan to move into it as soon as possible, or you are making repairs in the apartment you live in, then delaying repairs solely because of the windows is illogical, making repairs now and installing windows in six months is even more illogical, since part of what has been done repairs will go down the drain, and leaving old windows while doing repairs is wrong. Installation of windows in winter is allowed at a temperature not lower than -5 degrees. In addition, installing plastic windows in very hot weather is also not recommended. An important aspect when replacing windows is not only their installation, but also the correct measurement and the right choice.

Measurement of plastic windows

Before you go shopping for a window, you need to measure the window opening, based on these dimensions, place an order or buy a finished window. The advantage of ordering a window is that a window will be made to fit your size, as for buying ready-made windows, they are made according to standard sizes, which do not always fit perfectly into specific window openings.

So, the measurement of the window must be done as follows. To begin with, the window opening is measured from the inside in width, from the bases of the wall, so if you have slopes on the windows, they must be dismantled in order to make an accurate measurement. Then it is necessary to measure the height of the window opening, taking into account the type of window sill. If the house is panel, then in such houses the window sill, as a rule, is part of the slab, so a new window will be installed on it, but if the window sill is removable, then it is necessary to measure from the base of the slab itself. After that, you need to try to measure the depth of the window opening, for this, you may need to beat off part of the plaster or remove the wooden plank from the side parts of the window.

As for measurements from the outside, here we first measure the width and height of the window opening, then again you will need to beat off part of the plaster or cement in order to measure the depth of the opening between the window and the wall with a knife. If possible, also remove the ebb: check if there is a border from the bottom of the window opening or if the surface is solid.

As you understand, the window itself cannot butt butt into the window opening, since it needs space to narrow and expand, depending on temperature fluctuations. As for the gaps, their minimum size should be as follows:

  • For windows up to 1m 20cm - indentation of 15mm;

  • For windows up to 2m 20cm - 20mm;

  • For windows up to 3m - 25mm.

When measuring, also consider that the window itself should only go into the window opening by a few centimeters, that is, that there should be at least 4 cm from the edges of the double-glazed window and the sash, so that the double-glazed window is not in the wall, and slopes can be made normally. Having received the dimensions of the window and the so-called window edging, we take into account the indicated nuances and obtain the size of the window profile. After that, make an order for the manufacture of a window, or buy a finished one, also order along with this: a handle, a mosquito net (fasteners), a window sill and a low tide.

Dismantling the old window and preparing the opening

When you have purchased a window and the weather is good outside, we start work. Keep in mind that all the work will be very dusty, so either remove all things from the room, or cover them with a film. We begin work with the dismantling of old windows, for this, use a hammer, mount and chisel. First you need to remove the window or the smaller sash, after which the large sash is dismantled. Next, using a hacksaw or electric jigsaw, you need to cut the partition between the wings in half and tear it out of the frame. Then we cut in half a part of the frame from below, after which we make its further dismantling.

When the frame is dismantled, using a hammer and a chisel or using a perforator, knock down the bumps and make grooves on the sides so that the window sill goes a little into the wall. Immediately before installing the plastic window, you need to carefully clean the window opening from debris and slightly moisten it. After that, we proceed to the preparation of the window profile and its installation.

Installation of plastic windows

Before installing the profile, you need to remove the sashes and pull out the double-glazed windows from the deaf parts of the window. We peel off the protective tapes from the outer part of the profile and put on decorative caps in the drain holes. Using self-tapping screws, we fix the fasteners for the mosquito net.

Many old sources do not mention this, but today the technology for installing plastic windows has changed a little, one more item has been added to it: profile insulation. These actions were included in the process of installing plastic windows due to the fact that for most people, even with proper installation in compliance with all the rules, moisture (condensation) and fungus formed on the windows, as a result of which the profile was frozen. Thanks to this action, all the negative consequences that were observed earlier should not appear.

For a tighter and tight fit of the profile to the window opening, the perimeter of the profile is pasted over from the outside with a vapor-tight self-expanding sealing tape. Then the side parts of the profile on all sides (closer to the inside of the window) are pasted over with butyl-based vapor barrier tapes. From above, on the side part of the profile, a self-expanding tape seal can be glued, after which, if necessary, a start or expansion profile is attached. After the insulation work, we proceed to the installation of the profile.

What to fix the plastic window on: mounting plates or anchors

There are two options for fixing PVC windows during their installation: on anchors and on plates. It is impossible to say specifically and unequivocally which of these two types of fastening is the best, since each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. In view of the fact that fastening is the most important component of installing a plastic window, and the fact that beginners who want to install plastic windows with their own hands are interested in this issue, we will consider this issue with your permission in more detail.

So, first of all, when choosing the type of fastening of plastic windows, it is necessary to focus on the type of walls. That is, if you have a panel or brick house, then you are not limited in choosing the type of window fastening, but if you want to install plastic windows in a new building or in a country house that are built from foam blocks or gas blocks, then window fastening must be done exclusively on mounting plates.

The biggest disadvantage of fastening windows to anchors is the so-called depressurization of the profile. As you know, there are several cameras inside the profile, which are separated from each other. Thanks to these chambers, the profile “holds” the temperature, since, for example, in winter the coldest chamber is located on the outside of the window, and in each subsequent chamber the temperature is slightly higher. In the outermost chamber, which is located on the inner side, the temperature is several degrees higher in winter than in the first chamber, due to which there is no temperature difference in the profile. In principle, the meaning is clear that due to such a structure and tightness of the chambers, they retain heat in the profile.

When the profile is fastened with anchors, it is drilled through, resulting in depressurization of the chambers. Also, fastening plastic windows to anchors requires more time, precision and skill, so this is not the best fastening option for beginners. If the profile is not fixed correctly, it can lead, and if this happens, the window will be damaged by and large, as this is fraught with gaps both between the double-glazed window and the profile, and loose closing of the window sash. The advantage of fixing plastic windows with anchors is that the structure will be more durable, that is, strong winds will not cause the profile to vibrate, and the likelihood that the structure will sag heavily after installation is also reduced.

As for fixing plastic windows on mounting plates, it is much easier, besides, it will save a lot of time and the chambers in the profile will not be depressurized, and this is very important. The disadvantage of mounting windows on mounting plates is the lack of structural strength, that is, the window may tremble slightly, but this will not be significant. However, mounting plates are the easiest way for beginners to fix a plastic window.

Some installers, when installing plastic windows, simultaneously use both of these types of fasteners. What type of window fastening to use is up to you. If you decide to fasten the profile to the mounting plates, then we fasten them to the profile with self-tapping screws, but if it is decided to fasten the profile with anchors - with a drill or puncher, then first make holes in the profile.

From each corner at a distance of 120-150mm, the first fastener is made, then subsequent fasteners are made in increments of 700mm. There must be at least 3 fasteners on each side.

Profile fixing

Before placing the profile in the window opening, check the planes of all sides of the opening with a level. After that, with the help of wooden blocks made of hardwood or linings made of polymeric materials, we raise the profile and adjust it vertically. Vertical adjustment is made from the upper part of the window opening, that is, from the bottom you need to raise the profile using the named materials. Then align the profile horizontally. Preliminary fixation of the profile in the window opening on the sides and top is carried out using wooden blades. When the profile is leveled on all sides, inspect it - is everything correct, and proceed to fix it.

To fix the profile to the mounting plates, first use one hollow nail. Then once again check the evenness of the profile with a level and after that fix each mounting plate with a second dowel-nail. If you fix the window on the anchor, then through the holes made in advance, using a perforator, make holes in the wall, screw in the anchor, but do not tighten them, firstly, you need to check the evenness of the window with a level, and secondly, you need to tighten the anchor slowly so that do not disturb the profile geometry. When the profile is fixed, we take out the wooden blades from the sides and the top, the lower ones remain - they are the basis of the profile.

Low tide

The next stage of work is the installation of the ebb. We measure the ebb and with the help of scissors for metal we adjust it to the desired size. Then a vapor barrier tape is glued from the bottom of the frame, which will protect the seam between the wall and the bottom of the window, under the ebb. When the tape is glued, we apply a layer of mounting foam on top of it, and another layer on the edge of the plate to ensure sealing and soundproofing of the ebb. The ebb enters the grooves of the profile and is fixed with special self-tapping screws.

Seam sealing

Next, using a special mounting foam for installing windows, we blow out the mounting seam between the wall and the profile: first on the left side, then on the right, then at the top. A feature of this mounting foam is the lack of expansion, which is very convenient for installation - the foam fills the gaps, but does not swell excessively. The surface of the wall can be slightly moistened beforehand. After a few minutes, when the foam dries a little and expands, we glue the second part of the insulation tape on top of it on the wall.

Installation of shutters and double-glazed windows

First, remove the protective tape from the inside of the window. When installing a double-glazed window, use special linings so that it evenly closes the opening. Next, use the slats to fix the double-glazed window, you can hammer the fixing slats into the grooves using a rubberized hammer. After installing the sash and fixing it in the canopies, fix the handle and adjust the sash itself vertically and horizontally. At the very end, a mosquito net is installed.

Windowsill

Then we move on to the final part - the installation of the window sill. We foam the bottom mounting seam well and stick a vapor barrier tape on top of it. The next thing to do is to install wooden blocks on which the window sill will be laid. The pads must be at least 10cm in length. The level of the pads should be such that the window sill is firmly pressed against the bottom of the profile. Another nuance - the window sill should have a slope towards the room of no more than 5 degrees. Please note that the window sill should not cover the battery, otherwise the heat from it will not spread to the window. It is unnecessary to fasten the window sill to the mounting plates, as well as to special clips: the method proposed by us will provide a strong and reliable fastening of the window sill. Check if the window sill is tightly held, then sing it from below, preferably with mounting foam that expands. At the end of this stage of work, place 5-liter bottles of water on the windowsill to fix it.

Video instruction for self-assembly of plastic windows

In order for you to clearly see the process of installing a plastic window, we recommend that you watch the videos below.

This video briefly talks about what you need to pay attention to when installing plastic windows.

There are several ways to install plastic windows. Anchor plates for PVC windows are used quite often, you can fix them in different ways. Each method has certain advantages, but is not without its drawbacks. We will illustrate them, leaving the reader to choose the most suitable option for him, since it is impossible to offer a universal solution.

Difficulties associated with installation

Anchoring a frame with anchors, although it may seem like a simple task, can actually cause many negative consequences, especially if the installation is carried out by a non-professional. Before deciding whether you need such a mount, you should carefully consider the possible consequences of errors during operation.

  • In this case, the frame is fastened with anchor bolts. In order to make such a mount, you will need to drill a frame. The disadvantage of this action can immediately be called the depressurization of the double-glazed chambers.
  • Another problem may be the freezing of the structure, since when drilling, the reinforcement of the system is disturbed. If the double-glazed window freezes, you will encounter excessive moisture in the room, and mold may appear on the slopes over time.
  • Installation should be carried out by an experienced craftsman, since with inaccurate work, the plastic structure can stretch. If the frame geometry is broken, it will be difficult or impossible to return it to its normal position.

However, despite all the disadvantages, this method of fastening has an important advantage: the window will be securely fixed, and it will be possible to dismantle it only after thoroughly disassembling it from the inside. Installation takes a little time, does not require alignment, as happens with foam, after installation is completed, the structure is immediately ready for use. The connection is considered the most reliable and durable. The bolts and plates themselves are inexpensive and are sold in all hardware stores.

Types of window fastening

How to mount on plates?

Anchor plates for help make the installation process quick and easy. One of the important advantages is that there is no need to pull out the double-glazed window from the frame. The profile system will not undergo drilling, which means that it will be possible to avoid the problems that arise when drilling through the frame. Double-glazed windows do not depressurize, the structure will not lose its rigidity, it will not begin to freeze. There is no risk of frame warping. However, the method cannot be called perfect either: one of the important drawbacks is its unattractive appearance, since part of the fastening will be noticeable after installation.

Advice: the anchor plate can be hidden under the slopes if they are correctly installed and masked with overhead elements.

The second significant disadvantage is the increased load on the structure with frequent opening of the valves. The window can quickly fail, which is why experts recommend fixing only deaf structures in this way.

Other methods of fixing a plastic window

There is a method that combines several ways of fastening the frame, in this case, you can avoid some of the disadvantages of both of the above methods. With the combined method, the upper part of the frame is attached to the anchor plates for windows, and the lower part is fixed with anchors. This allows you to avoid hitting the frame when opening, as well as adjust it in height.

Fastening plates with a window on self-tapping screws

How are windows installed on the anchor plate?

Mounting plates for PVC windows are produced differently, so before installation you need to choose the right one. There are only two types of designs: universal, suitable for any window frames, and special, which are made for non-standard windows. Such elements have special ears, with which they can be fixed with self-tapping screws by placing them in the groove of the window profile. The universal plate has no ears and is bolted.

Advice: for installation, you need to choose bolts 4.5x25 mm. Pay attention to the sting, it must have a drill for metal, otherwise it will be difficult to drill the structure.

Anchor mount

The sequence of work when installing a window on anchor plates

If you are using standard windows, you will need about 5 anchor plates. One of them will be located in the center of the frame, the rest are placed, departing from the corner by about 20 cm. During installation, you will not need to remove the double-glazed windows or pull out the glazing beads: the plates will be attached to the outside of the window opening, the fasteners in this case are made through.
