Installation of a sewer tank. How to install a sewer tank. Prices for storage tanks

The arrangement of the sewerage system is an obligatory stage in the construction of any private house. If your site is located within the administrative boundaries of the city, then the solution to this issue comes down to connecting the home sewer network to the city drain collector.

For those residents whose houses are located outside large settlements, the problem of collecting and disposing of wastewater has to be solved independently. When designing and building autonomous treatment facilities, it is important to choose the right volume and type of sewage tank, since the throughput, reliability and durability of the entire treatment system will depend on these parameters.

Varieties of autonomous treatment facilities

Currently, several types of autonomous treatment facilities are used for the disposal of liquid domestic wastewater in private residential buildings.

When choosing a suitable option, I advise you to proceed from the size of the family budget for construction, the total average daily consumption of clean drinking water, and the requirements for the degree of wastewater treatment.

  1. An ordinary cesspool is considered the simplest and most primitive device, since it is an ordinary large tank designed exclusively for the accumulation and storage of sewage and liquid waste. The only advantage of the cesspool is the low manufacturing cost. At the same time, it must be borne in mind that in the future its operation will cost much more, since it will constantly require additional costs for periodic pumping and removal of sewage;

  1. A two-chamber or three-chamber septic tank is a completely autonomous device that is capable of fully performing a full cycle of cleaning household waste in continuous mode. All sewer tanks in a multi-chamber septic tank are connected to each other in series using plastic ones, and each individual flow-accumulating chamber acts as a sump. This method allows you to get clarified clean water at the outlet, without an unpleasant odor and mechanical impurities;

  1. The deep biological treatment system also consists of several chambers connected in series, one of which is an aeration tank. At the bottom of the aeration tank there are nozzles through which air is constantly blown, and thereby saturates the polluted water with oxygen. In conditions of excess oxygen, aerobic biologically active bacteria develop in water, which quickly decompose fats, proteins and other organic substances into elementary constituent particles.
    As a result of the active activity of aerobic bacteria, the output of such a device is purified water, which can be used for technical purposes, and a small amount of bottom sludge, which can be applied to the soil as an organic fertilizer;

A biological wastewater treatment plant cannot be called a completely autonomous treatment plant, since its operation requires a permanent connection to electricity. Such devices are quite expensive, but thanks to the built-in pump, they can be used in forced sewage systems.

How to calculate tank volume

In order to correctly calculate the optimal volume of a septic tank or storage tank for sewage, you need to understand what the maximum amount of clean water will be consumed by all residents in the house in one day. For residential buildings of permanent residence, the generally accepted average daily water consumption rate is determined at the rate of 150 liters per day per person.

Each of the presented types of autonomous treatment facilities has its own separate calculation method, therefore, a brief instruction will be presented below, which describes in detail how to determine the required volume of tanks in each specific case.

  1. With factory-made biological treatment plants, this issue is most easily solved, since each model of such devices is initially designed for a certain number of residents. Thus, in order to choose the right model for yourself, you just need to tell the seller or official dealer what the maximum number of people can live in your house at the same time;

  1. When choosing the volume of the storage tank, I advise you to proceed from such a calculation that the pumping and removal of wastewater should be carried out no more than once or twice a month. For example, if four people permanently live in a house, then with an average daily water consumption of 150 l / person, the volume of the storage tank should be at least: 150 l / person. * 4 pers. * 15 days = 9000 liters, or in other words 9 m³;
  2. In normal operation of a two-chamber or three-chamber septic tank, it will take at least three days to clarify and clean the entire volume of contaminated wastewater. Thus, the total volume of all settling chambers for a septic tank must simultaneously contain such an amount of water that is consumed by all residents of the house for three days. For example, for a private house in which five people permanently live, the volume of a septic tank is calculated using the following formula: 150 l / person. * 5 people * 3 days = 2250 liters, or 2.25 m³.

It may happen that during the arrival of guests, or in the event of a simultaneous volley discharge of a large amount of wastewater, the estimated volume of storage tanks may not be enough. To avoid unforeseen situations, when designing and installing tanks for autonomous sewage, I advise you to increase the calculated value by 30%.

Option 1: metal containers

In the old days, all parts and assemblies for sewerage systems were made mainly of metal. This material has its advantages and disadvantages, however, in this case, the disadvantages turned out to be more significant, therefore, in modern sewer systems, metal containers are practically not used anywhere.

At the same time, metal drums of a suitable size can be inexpensively purchased at scrap metal collection points or at the dismantling of old industrial enterprises, so some craftsmen use used metal containers as sewage tanks or settling tanks.

  1. The metal has sufficient rigidity and high strength, therefore, products from it do not collapse and do not deform under the influence of significant pressure of a thick layer of soil;

  1. metaltanksabsolutely hermetic, and in case of leakage, they can be easily repaired using gas or electric arc welding;
  2. Compared to brick and concrete, metal has a relatively low specific gravity.. On the one hand, this greatly facilitates the installation and connection of the sewerage system;
  3. On the other hand, a light metal container, in conditions of flooded soils, will constantly strive to “float” to the surface of the earth under the action of Archimedes forces, so it will have to be additionally anchored in the ground;

  1. Despite all its advantages, all metal products have two significant drawbacks, due to which they were no longer used in the construction of sewer networks. The first disadvantage is the high cost of the metal, which is constantly increasing every year;
  2. second, and the main drawback is that unprotected ferrous metal is very susceptible to corrosion. Being underground, under the influence of aggressive sewage, even the thickest-walled iron container can lose its tightness, and even completely collapse after a few years.

The only metal that can be used in underground sewer systems is stainless steel, as it is absolutely not afraid of corrosion, and can withstand significant loads from a thick layer of soil. I want to say right away that it is very expensive, so buying a stainless steel barrel at a market price specifically for these purposes does not make any sense.
It is advisable to use a stainless tank if you got it for free, or if you have the opportunity to purchase it for little money.

Option 2: brick storage tank

Brickwork is often used by owners of private houses to make the walls of septic tanks, storage tanks and cesspools. This method is considered the most inexpensive and simple, since it can be used to easily build a cesspool of almost any shape and size. In addition, for its manufacture it is allowed to use substandard, defective or broken bricks left after the construction of the house.

Despite the fact that the cesspool has a simple and primitive design, its construction has some features that I want to talk about in this section:

  1. For the construction of the walls of cesspools, only red burnt bricks can be used., because the white silicate brick, with a long stay in the water, will gradually collapse;

  1. Before laying bricks, at the bottom of the pit, you need to equip an even waterproof base.. This can be a ready-made reinforced concrete slab of a suitable size, or a thick layer of reinforced concrete screed;
  2. For laying bricks, you should use the usual masonry mortar of fine river sand and M400 cement, prepared in a ratio of 4: 1;
  3. When laying out the side walls of the filter well, starting from the third row, it is necessary to leave small gaps 20-30 mm wide between two adjacent bricks along the entire perimeter. They are needed so that the clarified water is freely filtered through the walls into the surrounding soil layers;

  1. As a cesspool cover, you can also use either a finished reinforced concrete slab or a home-made pouring slab made of reinforced monolithic concrete;
  2. In the overlap of each container for sewage, two holes must be left, one larger, the other smaller. The larger hole will serve as an inspection hole, and the smaller one will be used to install the ventilation pipe.

The brick has an open porous structure, so contaminated fecal water will gradually seep through the walls of the septic tank over time, and poison the surrounding soil. To prevent this from happening, I advise, after the construction of the cesspool, to impregnate the inner surface of the brick walls with sodium liquid glass.

Option 3: in-situ reinforced concrete tank

A concrete container for sewage can be called a universal option, since it is well suited both for the manufacture of multi-chamber septic tanks and for arranging a simple cesspool. Reinforced concrete has high strength and good corrosion resistance to aggressive substances, so a concrete tank can properly serve underground for decades, without any maintenance and repair.

For the manufacture of concrete tanks in residential construction, one of two methods can be used, each of which has its own disadvantages and advantages.

  1. In the first case, a concrete storage tank or septic tank is assembled from ready-made concrete rings for wells.
    They are produced in different sizes, in addition, models are available with a blind bottom, with locking end connections and with a closing top cover.
  • Such a set allows you to assemble a concrete septic tank of almost unlimited volume in a short time., with any number of individual round chambers;
  • In case of damage to one of the elements of the prefabricated septic tank, it can be easily dismantled and a new serviceable element installed in its place;
  • Concrete rings of large diameter have a significant weight, therefore, during the construction process, it will be necessary to use a crane or an excavator;
  • To prevent the tank from leaking contaminated fecal water, joints between concrete rings must be additionally sealed;
  • If the joints between the rings are not tight enough, then there is a possibility of filling the tank from the outside with ground, flood or melt water.

  1. The second method involves the manufacture of a septic tank directly at the place of its installation, in the form of a monolithic structure made of reinforced concrete. To do this, at the bottom of the pit, you need to install a wooden formwork, and place a reinforcing cage in it.
    Then pour liquid concrete mortar, and leave until completely hardened:
  • This method allows you to make a septic tank of irregular shape or complex configuration, with any number of storage or settling chambers;
  • Buying ready-made concrete rings will cost much more. than the cost of liquid concrete mortar, therefore, in my opinion, this option is considered more budgetary;

  • For the preparation and pouring of concrete mortar, the use of special construction equipment is not required, so all the work can be done by hand, by two or three people;
  • Monolithic-concrete structure, after the mortar hardens, it turns out to be absolutely tight, therefore, does not let water through, and does not require additional sealing;
  • Despite all the obvious advantages, this method of building a septic tank is more complicated and requires much more working time.

All reinforced concrete products have a large specific gravity, and at the construction stage this moment can cause certain inconveniences. At the same time, there are positive aspects to this, since a heavy sewer tank will not tend to “float” out of the ground during soil flooding or a seasonal rise in groundwater levels.
For the same reason, reinforced concrete tanks do not need to be additionally anchored in the ground.

Option 4: containers made of polymeric materials

Currently, among the owners of private houses, all kinds of plastic containers have become very popular. They are sold in a wide model range, which makes it possible to choose a suitable tank for almost any volume.

To understand how convenient and practical they are for use in autonomous sewage systems, I will describe their advantages and disadvantages below:

  1. The most important positive quality of all products made of polymeric materials is that they are absolutely not subject to corrosion and destruction under the influence of water, acids, alkalis or other aggressive liquids, therefore they can be underground for an indefinitely long time;

  1. Plastic containers are very easy to use, besides they have a very small weight., therefore, the installation of such a sewer does not present any difficulties at all, and can be performed by one or two people;
  2. Using two or three plastic tanks of a suitable volume, it is possible in a short time to make a simple but effective two or three-chamber septic tank that can process liquid domestic wastewater from a full-fledged residential building;

  1. Polymeric materials themselves have insufficient rigidity, however, if you look at a factory-made plastic sewage tank, it is easy to notice that massive stiffening ribs are initially present on its body. Thanks to these ribs, it does not swell under its own weight of water, and well withstands significant ground pressure underground.

As I already said, all plastic containers are lightweight, therefore, so that they do not float on flooded soil, they must be anchored during installation. To do this, a flat concrete slab must be laid at the bottom of the pit, and before backfilling, attach a plastic tank to it through the top, at least at four points, using soft elastic straps.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I want to remind you that the durability and reliability of any sewage tank largely depends on compliance with the technology and correct installation. For example, if a sewer tank is located in the ground above the freezing level of the soil, then regardless of the material of manufacture, every winter it will gradually deform and be destroyed by the forces of frost heaving.

In order to avoid such errors during installation, I advise you to watch the attached video in this article, and if you have any questions, I suggest discussing them in the comments.

The problem of disposal of liquid household waste is faced by developers of private houses. Plastic sewer tanks can be installed by hand. They will serve long and reliably. The range is quite large. These can be ordinary storage tanks, simple septic tanks and autonomous waste-free wastewater treatment systems.

Types of plastic containers

Sewerage tanks are of the following types:

  • accumulative;
  • septic tanks;
  • local treatment facilities.

At first, many simply bury a storage tank in the ground to collect wastewater at home, which is periodically emptied with the help of a sewage truck. Recently, plastic containers for sewage have gained popularity.

Storage capacity is always needed. Even if the owner has built an autonomous treatment plant, additional tanks may be required for salvo discharges.

In the septic tank, liquid household waste is processed. It is made up of compartments. In the first of them, heavy particles are settled and fats float. It occupies 70% of the total volume of the septic tank. In the next compartment, biological decomposition and filtration of partially settled water takes place, and then it goes into the ground through a filtration field or

Local treatment facilities contain devices for biological wastewater treatment. It is necessary to distinguish between anaerobic and aerobic methods of decomposition of bacteria. In the first case, this occurs in the absence of oxygen. The action of most septic tanks is based on this method. Anaerobic bacteria feed on organic matter, which turns into sludge. It settles at the bottom of the tank, and then is collected and used as a quality soil fertilizer.

For the vital activity of aerobic bacteria, oxygen is needed, which is pumped by a compressor from the air in the form of small bubbles. The process is active, and the degree of purification is high. The compressor requires electricity to operate.

Biological products are periodically introduced into plastic treatment containers, where microbes multiply and eat sewage. In this case, it is necessary to constantly mix the drains with air. Devices for aerobic decomposition are called aeration tanks. The process is carried out continuously, otherwise the microbes die within 3 months. Therefore, this technology is used in homes with permanent residence.

Wastewater treatment plants are calculated on the number of people living in the house. Their volume should not be less or more than the calculated one for efficient operation. But reserve capacity is always needed in case of an unexpected influx of guests or unforeseen accidents.

The sewer tank can be metal, reinforced concrete or brick. Plastic sewer tanks have the following advantages:

  • tightness;
  • ease of installation and installation;
  • resistance to aggressive environments;
  • durability.

The disadvantage is a small strength. Therefore, care must be taken during transport and installation. Do not place the container on sharp stones that can push through the walls.

Choosing a plastic container

Their volume depends on many factors and is calculated in different ways. Consider the factors influencing the choice of such tanks.

1. Determining the volume of the storage tank

Plastic containers for sewage are selected based on the frequency of removals, the number of residents and the average water consumption per person. It is recommended to pump out waste no more than 2 times a month. With a daily intake of 150 liters for a family of 3 people. you will need a tank with a volume of 6.75 m 3. In this case, it is necessary to take into account various unforeseen situations, due to which the export may be delayed. They take about 30% of the estimated amount of wastewater. Then the final volume of the tank will be 9 m 3 .

If the manufacturer does not have such a tank, the nearest larger model should be selected. It should be purchased in advance to determine the size of the pit. The height of the technological hatch is about 100 cm. In some models, it can be hermetically extended to increase the depth of the tank in order to prevent the liquid from freezing in winter.

With a periodic visit, you can install plastic sewage tanks in a smaller dacha that can be pumped out at the end of the season. In order to save money, you can use plastic containers of 1-1.5 m 3 that were in use.

2. How to calculate the volume of a septic tank

The volume of the septic tank should be equal to the 3-day water consumption of all users. At a rate of 150 liters for a family of 3 people, the consumption will be 450 liters per day. Then for 3 days a volume of 1350 liters will be required. Estimated consumption is increased by 30% and then the nearest larger standard container is selected. As a result, the required volume of the septic tank will be 2 m 3.

The range of tank volumes is 1-150 m 3 .

3. Which plastic container to choose

Plastic sewage tanks are made in vertical and horizontal cylindrical, rectangular or spherical shapes. The material is plastic or fiberglass. The walls can be single-layer or double-layer.

Plastic tanks are supplied with accessories for determining the level of their filling. This is a float system with a light or sound alarm that notifies you of filling to a predetermined level.

The wall thickness of the barrel for sewerage must be at least 9 mm.

Septic tanks for wastewater treatment can be used as plastic storage tanks for sewage. In the summer, they work reliably for their intended purpose, and the water after cleaning can be used for watering the garden. In winter, the activity of bacteria that eat waste is reduced, and the effluent must be removed by a sewage machine.

Plastic containers for sewerage. Reviews

Objective assessments of plastic tanks are given by reviews of people who have installed them themselves and have also used them for many years.

For summer residents, it turned out to be sufficient to use storage tanks no more than 1 m 3. Even with permanent residence there in the summer, it is enough for the entire period. But on condition: if you connect the tank to the drain from the toilet, and pour the rest of the waste into the compost pit.

It is advisable to purchase a storage capacity for the volume of a sewage machine. Drains will completely fill the barrel, and they will have to be taken out less often.

Industrial plastic septic tanks cope with the work with constant use in a private house. Water is reliably purified and goes into the ground. Usually the owners call the cesspools for periodic once a year.

Autonomous sewerage based on plastic containers is an environmentally friendly and safe system. If you follow the instructions for use, it does its job. Domestic industrial sewage biological treatment plants are often purchased by homeowners and give positive feedback.

How to install plastic sewer tanks

  1. At a distance of about 5 m from the house and with the possibility of a convenient access for a sewage truck, a pit is dug, and a reinforced concrete foundation 20 cm thick is poured at its bottom. Fastening elements should be placed in it.
  2. It is discharged from the house in a trench 1 m deep with a slope of 3-5 mm / m for self-removal of drains. The gasket is made straight so that there are no blockages.
  3. Plastic containers for lowering on ropes or cables into the pit. The tank is installed on the foundation and fastened with anchor straps to a concrete screed so that it does not float further under the action of groundwater.
  4. Holes are cut out in the tank, and sewer and ventilation pipes are connected to it through rubber cuffs.
  5. Then it is wrapped with geotextile and covered with sand, which is periodically moistened and rammed. At the same time, water is poured inside to the level of backfill.

Conclusion

If you choose and install plastic sewer containers correctly, they will allow you to comfortably live in a private house with removal, with partial or complete processing of domestic wastewater. The devices are reliable and durable.

For each house for a comfortable stay, it is required to supply water and equip a sewer to drain it. The most convenient option is to connect a household external sewer to a central system, which is not always possible to do. In this case, sewage tanks are used to collect and treat wastewater.

The storage tank for sewage is a large tank equipped with two holes:

  • entrance for connecting a sewer pipeline;
  • hole for cleaning the container.

In most cases, such a unit is installed below ground level. This allows you to save the aesthetic appearance of the site and space for other purposes.

Types of containers

Storage tanks are used to equip water flow in a modern external sewer system. Installing the device does not require certain skills, but the tank needs timely cleaning, which is carried out.

Depending on the material used for the production, sewer tanks are divided into:

  • metal;
  • concrete.

plastic containers

Tanks made from various types of plastic are the most popular.

Plastic containers for sewage have a number of advantages over units made from other materials:

  • have a relatively small weight, which is important when installing equipment;
  • the most hermetic. This factor is achieved due to the absence of welds;
  • durable, as the material is resistant to corrosion and the negative effects of aggressive substances contained in wastewater;
  • relatively low cost of the device.

metal containers

The second place in use after plastic is occupied by metal containers for sewage.

Such equipment is heavier than plastic. To install it, you will need to use a crane. It is not possible to install a metal container on your own.

Before installation, in order to prevent sewage from entering the ground, it is necessary to carefully treat all connecting seams with a sealant.

In order to protect the equipment from possible corrosion as much as possible, the tank is covered both inside and outside with a protective anti-corrosion material, which significantly extends the service life of the tank. Resistant paint, for example, XB-785 enamel, can be used as such a material.

Concrete tanks

Currently, they are rarely used for sewerage. First of all, this is due to the property of the material used.

Concrete quickly collapses from strong and constant humidity. Accordingly, sewer containers made of concrete last a short time. But the cost of installing such a unit is a lot. Due to the large weight, the tank cannot be installed without the use of special equipment.

Thus, for small private networks, it is advisable to use plastic containers for sewage.

To install a sewer tank yourself, you need:

  • calculate the appropriate amount of equipment and decide on its material;
  • choose the best place for installation;
  • install and test the system.

Calculation of the volume of the sewer tank

Before installing the entire external sewer system, it is necessary to determine the volume of the sewer tank.

The amount of equipment needed depends on:

  • on the number of people living in the house (it is especially important if the capacity calculation is carried out for a country cottage in which people constantly live);
  • on the amount of wastewater (on average, one person consumes about 200 liters of liquid per day);
  • from the expected period of cleaning work.

Specialists have developed a universal formula for calculating the volume of a sewer tank:

V=n*x*Vday, where

  • n is the period between cleaning works, measured in days;
  • x is the number of people permanently residing in the house;
  • Vday - the estimated volume of wastewater per person per day.

For example, 3 people live permanently in a house. It is assumed that the sewage tank will be cleaned every 30 days.

V \u003d 30 days * 3 people * 200 liters per day \u003d 18000 liters, that is, the tank must have a volume of at least 18 m³.

The calculation of the volume of the sewer tank is quite simple. But neglecting this procedure will lead to negative consequences.

Choosing a place to install a sewer tank

At the next stage of the equipment of the sewer system, it is necessary to determine the place where the container for sewage will be located. When choosing a location, you should be guided by the following rules:

  • so that the liquid can flow into the tank by gravity, the latter is located at the lowest point of the infield;
  • for the convenience of cleaning the structure, roads are needed along which specialized equipment can drive;
  • it is desirable that the pipeline leading the effluents to the tank be straight. This will save you from installing additional equipment, for example, rotary wells;
  • it is not recommended to install a sewage tank near the house, as unpleasant odors may occur. Too much distance between the house and the sewer tank will lead to the need to lay a long pipeline.

The most optimal distance from the house to the unit is 6 meters.

Installation of a sewer tank

To independently install a sewer tank, you must:

  • Dig a hole for equipment. The dimensions of the pit should be approximately 50 cm on each side larger than the dimensions of the container.
  • Put a layer of sand on the bottom, creating the basis for the container. If in the area where it is planned to install a sewage tank, clay soils are predominantly present and groundwater is close to the surface, it is more advisable to make a solid concrete foundation under the tank. This will avoid tilting the equipment, in the formation of which the device will quickly fail.

  • Install tank. Plastic containers for sewage must be installed strictly horizontally. If you cannot install the unit yourself, then you need to resort to the help of lifting equipment.
  • Connect sewer line.

  • Check all joints for tightness. To do this, it is necessary to put a large amount of water under pressure into the system.
  • Fill the container with sand on all sides.
  • Close the lid provided for the design of the tank.
  • Bury, leaving a hole on the surface for cleaning the tank.

Properly selected and installed capacity for sewage will last a long time.

The sewage storage tank is a simple solution for domestic systems. Installing the tank yourself is not difficult and does not require special skills.

For each summer resident or owner of a private house, it becomes necessary to install a storage tank for drains.

The product is a waterproof tank, for the accumulation and storage of liquid. Wastewater does not seep into the soil, which means it does not pollute the environment. Therefore, the tank is ideal for places where there is no centralized sewerage.

Storage tank for sewage, buy

You can buy a storage tank for sewage with a different size and shape. For a large capacity, a tank with a large volume is chosen, the larger the volume, the less often it becomes necessary to clean it.

Non-volatile septic tanks

Volatile septic tanks

The principle of operation of the storage tank for sewage is very simple. It has an inlet with a lid through which sewage flows and further purification.

It is buried in the soil, so it is not visible, and the site does not lose its aesthetic appearance. In this case, the location should be taken into account so that the entrance to it is as accessible as possible. Installing a tank will save a lot of money, since the price of storage tanks is affordable.

A variety of materials from which drives are made allow you to choose the option that is suitable for your site. It is necessary to take into account the terrain and the level of groundwater. For ease of operation of the storage tank for wastewater, sensors are installed to monitor the level of liquid in the tank.

For creation materials are used: brick, concrete, reinforced concrete, plastic, metal, glass. Some options are already outdated. Today, plastic and glass storage tanks are popular due to their high waterproofing, easy installation and lack of smell.

Storage tank installation

The specialists of our company AquaFocus LLC will solve the problem with installing the device in a short time, while observing all the established rules and regulations.

Experts will work on:

  1. digging a pit in accordance with the size;
  2. casting the slab to the bottom of the pit, to equalize the load on the tank;
  3. installation;
  4. fixation and fastening;
  5. backfilling of the pit with an installed container with a mixture of sand and cement;
  6. at the end of the work, the remaining soil is buried.

Over time, any container needs maintenance. As it fills up, it needs to be released, for this a sewage machine is used.

For sewerage. What are they not built from? Concrete rings, cinder block, old car tires, metal and plastic containers, ready-made factory septic tanks are used. In general, each person uses everything that is at hand for construction, and they are installed both in the country house and in a private house.

In a small cottage, with a small number of people living, it is advisable to install a storage tank and connect a sewer to it. Due to the low water consumption, the capacity will be enough for a small sewer, and it will not be difficult to install it. In this article, let's look at how the storage tank for sewage is installed.

Types of storage tanks

The storage tank is designed to collect and store drain water from the sewer with subsequent pumping. Basically, metal or plastic barrels are used for these purposes. In the absence of such, the container can be built from concrete rings, cinder block, car tires. Only in this case will it be necessary to perform sealing well so that wastewater does not seep into the ground.

Choosing a place for a container

When choosing a location for the installation of a tank, first of all, provide for a free entrance to the sewer truck. After all, sooner or later the filled container will have to be pumped out. It is better to install it below the level of the house on the back side and not far from the foundation. The distance should be no more than 5 m. If it is not possible to place the container at such a distance, then an additional manhole will have to be installed on the sewer between the house and the container. In the house, install a tank full alarm sensor in order to pump out on time.

Installation of storage tanks

Installing containers from different materials comes down to one thing: you have to dig a hole. But the installation is slightly different due to the use of different materials:

  • To install a container from metal barrels, dig a hole with a diameter slightly larger than the barrel. To increase the volume of the container, the barrels can be vertically welded to each other. And leave the bottom only in the lower barrel. The depth of the pit is measured by the height of all welded barrels. At the bottom of the pit, pour a sand cushion 10–15 cm. As you know, metal tends to rust and rot. Therefore, in order to protect the structure from exposure to water, cover the barrels with bitumen or paint before installation. Install the finished container in the pit. In the side of the barrel where the sewer pipe will enter, cut a hole according to the diameter of the pipe. Insert the pipe into the barrel, and seal the joint with sealant. Now you can fill up the gap between the walls of the barrel with a pit. As the soil falls asleep, tamp each layer after about 25 cm. Cover the container with a hatch on top.
  • The installation of a container of concrete rings is carried out on a pre-concreted bottom of the pit. Lower the concrete rings with a truck crane into the pit and seal all joints with silicone or cement-based sealant. You make waterproofing of the outer walls of the rings, supply sewage, fill the gap between the walls of the tank and the pit with earth. Lay a reinforced concrete cover with a hatch on top. It should be above the ground.
  • Installing a plastic container is carried out according to the same principle. Dig a hole larger than the container, about 10-15 cm on each side. Measure the depth to the neck. It must be above ground. The bottom of the pit can be made from a sand cushion, as mentioned above, but there is one problem - plastic is a fairly light material, so in the spring, with the rise of groundwater, the container can be pushed out of the ground. The best bottom option for a plastic container is concrete. The bottom of the pit is concreted together with anchors. When the concrete hardens, install the container by tying it with straps to the anchors. Connect the sewer and seal the pipe inlet. Backfill in layers of 20-30 cm. As you fill, fill the container with water so that the pressure of the earth does not crush the soft walls of the plastic. You can fill it with a mixture of sand (6 parts) and cement (1 part), tamping each layer. Put a lid on the neck of the container, and the job is done.
  • To build a container of brick or cinder block, dig a hole in the shape of the future container. Concrete the bottom, and lay out the walls in a checkerboard pattern. You make waterproofing of walls with hot bitumen both inside and outside. You make a sewer supply, and fill the gaps with earth. From above, the container can be covered with sheet metal or knocked down wooden shields.
  • A small storage capacity can be built from old car tires. When laying them on top of each other, pour bitumen between them to seal.

Note! Currently, there is a lot of interest in horizontal plastic containers. They are equipped inside with partitions with overflow holes. After passing through several compartments, the filtered water can be drained into the ground.
