How to choose the general style of the apartment. Interior Design. How to choose your interior style. What is the weakness of "summer" natures

The question of which interior style to choose for an apartment or house is not as simple as it seems at first glance.

Let's start with the fact that if you want your interior to be in harmony and you were pleased to be in it, then the interior must have a certain style. Of course you ask - why? I will explain with a simple example: If you cook borscht, then you adhere to a certain recipe, otherwise you will not get good borscht. If you randomly put random ingredients into the pot, you can end up with an inedible brew. Absolutely the same applies to the interior. If you want to get a beautiful, pleasant and, in a certain sense, “delicious” interior, then you must adhere to a certain recipe, i.e. style. The presence of style allows you to select things to each other and harmoniously combine them with each other.

I want to say right away that any historical style can be done beautifully and well, but each one hides different dangers and difficulties.

Styles of the first half of the twentieth century - Modern in the interior

An important factor that is often overlooked when choosing an interior style is its reproducibility in real life. For example, you decided to recreate the style of the early twentieth century in the form of Art Nouveau or Art Deco.

Of course, both of these styles are very beautiful, interesting, and many love them. But the problem is that reproducing Art Nouveau in such a way that it looks complete and real is extremely difficult and expensive. Not every carpenter will take on interior elements in this style. And those who undertake, not the fact that they will do well. Even designing it is extremely difficult, almost everything in this style is made to size.

With Art Deco, the situation is better. It is often reproduced by designers in their projects. But you need to remember that a good authentic Art Deco is very expensive.

By the way, the Gothic style is also difficult to reproduce. Although, it has nothing to do with Modern.

historical styles

Naturally, there are also “leaders of audience sympathy”. These are different versions of what is collectively called the classics: Baroque, Rococo, Classicism and Empire.

These styles are widespread in Russia and often reproduced. They are everywhere and it's not interesting, often such projects are banal and look like a friend so that it seems that it was all done by the same designer for the same client. In many ways, the similarity is due to the fact that many manufacturers copy Versailles furniture one to one. Yes, it looks like the truth, but the neighbor in the country has exactly the same chest of drawers and chairs, only the upholstery is different.

There is another problem with Baroque and Rococo - they are completely unsuitable for city apartments. The numerous gilded elements of these styles require high ceilings and large spaces with huge windows. In the limited space of a city apartment, even if it is 150 meters, these styles suffocate like a plant in too small a pot.

Baroque in a one-room apartment. Photo source: vmir.su

If you have a large country house, then you can try to make Baroque, but ... Good Russian Baroque, not a new interpretation, but directly serious and correct, honestly, I have never seen. I saw kitsch fakes from the series “an abundance of money compensates for shortcomings in other areas.”

It is also very funny when outside, say, a Swiss chalet, but inside is Baroque. The entrance to the house thus becomes a transition to another dimension.

With the Empire in the interior, too, everything is not so simple. This is a ceremonial style designed to inspire awe in visitors with the sight of state power. Therefore, if you are a government official of a certain rank, then you definitely need Empire in the interior, just like a banker needs a suit and tie.

If you are an ordinary citizen or a businessman, then you are unlikely to like living in this style.

Of all the above, I am most in favor of classicism, restrained and even, with beautiful symmetry of the rooms and an easily read form. It does not require huge areas, does not mold imperial bees everywhere, and combines colors beautifully. The most popular colors magnolia (beige) and RAL 9010 (ivory) are just right here. Golden tones of wood. But you can dig out other colors and even deviate from them, the classic still puts the form at the forefront.

However, classicism is also official: it requires you to constantly keep your posture, keep children in the nursery and go out for breakfast with your hair done and in a jacket. A house in the style of Classicism or Empire must be specially designed according to certain planning rules. Without this, nothing good will come of it.

There are also non-historical “classicizing” styles. Provence ... I will not describe this style in detail. I'll just refer you to my article. But Provence in the interior is also already trivial. Maybe do something more interesting and modern? That (often I mean, however, everyone understands it in their own way) is a little less common, apparently because the assortment offered for it is narrower, which often results in inconsistencies and comes out much worse than Provence. However, I have seen a couple of times how people performed it independently and well. To do this, you need to love deep contrasts and abandon the beige.

Modern interior styles

After such a lengthy introduction, let's move on to what remains for us. And there is not much left.

Scandinavian style

I already wrote a separate article about the Scandinavian style in the interior. A great option for a modern apartment or a small country house. Especially if the owners are aimed at an eco-friendly lifestyle. Budget, stylish, good.

Eclecticism in the interior

If you listen to the speeches of various Russian gurus in the field of interior design, they unanimously declare that Eclecticism is not a style at all. It's a mix of different styles. But there is a so-called. eclectic styles. And I wrote about one of them, Boho chic. The advantage of this style is that you can bring things into it that are left over from the old furnishings that were before the renovation. You can buy something through ads on the Internet flea market. You can do something with your own hands. All this is an absolute budget savings.

Many consider eclecticism a dirty word. It seems like a designer came, ripped off a lot of money and jabbed his fingers at random objects. I personally also prefer the word “fusion”, which implies irony, a joke. In such styles, the interior is connected by contrasts: conceptual, color, temporary, formal.

Style Vintage

Another version of eclecticism, which can easily replace Provence. He is just as calm, feminine, quite simply reproduced. You can use some of the things and finishes that could be used in Provence, for example, textiles. The main idea of the style is not to use synthetics and plastic. The style focuses on the interiors of the 20-30s of the 20th century.

Industrial style or Loft

Strictly speaking, the Loft style is quite expensive because it is fashionable. But initially it was based on the principles of budget and simplicity. If you have brickwork in your interior, you don’t need to plaster it, leave it as it is. If there is a rusty metal staircase - very good! Leave as is. Did you get a cinder block wall? – Just paint, without any plaster, directly on top of the blocks. If you take the right paint, it turns out very stylish and pleasant. Do you have an old floor with chips, stains and scratches? Wash and paint. And that's it!

Of course, in order to balance this wretchedness of the interior, expensive, and most importantly, comfortable furniture is put into the interior. And complement it with lamps, art objects on the walls, or a good carpet.

True, for a high-quality reproduction of this style, it is desirable to have high ceilings, which is not available in all apartments. And tall windows.

Minimalism

Again, I have a separate article on this topic on my blog -. For the home, this style is not very suitable. The house will appear empty. But for a small city apartment - perfect. Especially if you have a country house, and you stay in the apartment in the middle of the week so that you don’t stand in traffic jams after work.

Mid 20th century modern

Mid Century Modern is an American style that is not widely used in Russia, but is widely used in interior magazines.

Very pleasant, reproduces the spirit of the 50-60s of the 20th century. Without a project, "by eye", not reproducible. But, it is quite a feasible task. Moreover, a lot of modern furniture made “under the 50s” is sold, there is plenty to choose from.

If desired, you can make a stylization for the Soviet 50s. It can also be very soulful.

It always seemed to me that the objects of the 50s and 70s are ridiculously cute, like friendly pets that run to meet you and poke their wet nose in your face. Not all, of course. Some are very elegant, with thin legs and brass heels. So this is a good option when several generations live under the same roof.

coastal style

Almost unknown in Russia, the American style, which does not even have a well-established name in Russian. In English it is called Coastal style. One client at the consultation called him Beach style, beach style.

Look at the photo. Why not Provence?

Maybe people constantly make Provence, because they simply don’t know that there may be similar, but not so banal options? Not very suitable for an apartment, but for a small country house it's just perfect! Although it is still better for an apartment than Provence.

Contemporary

For me, it's style without style, like casual clothes. Just a well done interior. Not Eco and not Fusion. In eclecticism, objects of different styles, as it were, collide, are opposed. In Contemporary, this contrast is less noticeable.

Frankly, it seems to me that this is much more difficult to do than any style. This is a word about borscht, which we talked about in the introduction. How to make it from random ingredients? No, you just have to be a good cook. True, it will no longer be borscht ...

Perfect for both home and apartment. Allows a combination of furniture and accessories of different styles, so we reproduce perfectly. There are practically no limits for creativity if you have a taste and respect the functionality and simplicity of the interior.

You might think that you need to spend a lot of money to reproduce this interior. - Not necessarily, you just need to create areas of interest, and everything else - the simpler the better.

If you think that you will not be able to reproduce one of the proposed interior options on your own, please contact us! , or .

  • How to choose the right apartment renovation style
  • What groups can be divided into all styles
  • Which ones are the most popular

A wide variety of building materials, decorations, furniture and fashion accessories in Moscow makes it easy to renovate a house or apartment. Now you do not need to engage in long searches, puzzle over how to give your home a comfortable and aesthetic look. There is absolutely everything on the modern market, so the only difficulty is to determine the style of apartment renovation.

In what style to make repairs in the apartment

The main difficulty that arises when choosing an interior is the oversaturation of information. A professional is able to distinguish the features of styles at a glance. There are mixed styles, for example, eclecticism and kitsch. But they also have their own canons and are far from a thoughtless combination of details, everything is based on the principles of aesthetics and artistic perception. That is why people who refer to eclecticism and kitsch as an elementary mixture of different styles make a mistake.

To give the interior integrity and harmony, decide which of the styles of apartment renovation suits you best, familiarize yourself with its features. It is not necessary to evaluate each type of interior unambiguously. For example, eco-style does not mean a simple set of wood elements. Minimalism, perceived as a composition of straight lines, devoid of decor, actually represents the philosophy of laconic forms, freely located in a light space.

In its pure form, housing design styles are almost never found, since a mixture of trends prevails these days. Therefore, take some style as a basis and dilute it with elements of other directions. In this way, you will build a single concept with shades of different motives. In order not to overdo it, it is enough to introduce a couple of additional strokes into the main style. If you decide to create your own interior without contacting specialists, avoid incompatible styles of apartment renovation: Japanese style and Art Deco, hi-tech and Provence, etc.

To create the interior of your home in one key, we recommend several tricks.

  1. Define one fundamental style as mentioned above.
  2. Choose a color palette, for example:
  • the main background with elements of other tones;
  • pastel shades;
  • different shades of the same color.
  1. In finishing materials, it is desirable to use combined textures that are in harmony with the main style and the chosen range of colors.
  2. The style of furniture should also repeat the main concept. Many manufacturers divide their products into two types: modern and classic. Furniture of simple forms goes well with modern trends (hi-tech, minimalism, Japanese and Scandinavian styles). The second option is ideal for classics, Provence, Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
  3. The principle of choosing lighting is similar. Built-in lighting will help create a calm, harmonious interior. This neutral type of lighting can be emphasized with a chandelier or floor lamp of the main style.

Textiles, figurines, vases, souvenirs should obey the general idea and take their places. Take this into account and choose items that are suitable in color and shape and composition.

What groups can be divided into all styles of apartment renovation

From the standpoint of interior design, apartment renovation styles are divided into three groups. Each of them has a generalized characteristic, however, the directions within its boundaries differ according to several criteria. So, we list the main groups of styles in the interior.

Classic (historical)

The style of "classic" depends on the architecture and art typical of a particular period in history. To create such an interior, it is necessary to thoroughly study the features of the chosen era. The classic is suitable for decorating a large room with an above-average budget for renovation work. The styles included in this group include finishes from natural materials, prestigious furniture and decor. These directions are suitable for conservative citizens who are not prone to innovation, who prefer time-tested traditions.

The list of classic interior styles is extensive. This includes baroque, rococo, modern, classic, gothic, etc. The design of an apartment renovation in a classic style needs moderate decor, since the main decoration of the interior will be exquisite furniture and decoration, high-quality textiles.

Ethnic

Such design options are based on the specifics of housing arrangement, characteristic of a particular area. The country that is the birthplace of the style gives it a name. For example, Moroccan, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Ethnic design is rarely used. It is difficult to recreate furniture, decor and fittings in subtleties. Culture, architecture and art of different nations have always interacted and influenced each other. For example, the Scandinavian style has always been influenced by Moorish. For this reason, it is impossible to create a true ethnic interior. Nevertheless, the interior with ethnic details today looks impressive and original.

Such motifs in the design of housing are curious in small details. Here the decor plays the first violin. To give credibility and naturalness to ethnic design, one should have at least a cursory knowledge of the architecture and art of the country of interest to the customer, know the national traditions.

Modern

This direction arose and developed over the past century. Modern types of home interiors are original designs, often with classic and ethnic accents. As a result, the space becomes not just multifunctional, it acquires high aesthetic properties. The goal of modern interior design is the practical organization of living space, adapted to all the needs of people. These are such areas as minimalism, grunge, hi-tech (high-tech), neoclassical, etc.

Thus, there are three main style directions in the design of apartments. However, the list is not limited to this. Designers often like to use mixed styles, which involve a combination of different directions within the same space. Mixed types include apartment renovation in fusion style, eclecticism and kitsch.

Are there types of interior that do not belong to any of the above groups? Of course. For example, colonial style which rightfully occupies a special place. It has absorbed shades of ethnicity and classics, but at the same time it has its own specific features. This direction originates in medieval England, where there was a rapid colonization of the territory of African countries. The British did not like life in huts, they arranged for themselves a comfortable and familiar interior. However, it was not possible to completely exclude the local flavor.

The fusion of African and European cultures gave rise to the colonial style. Today, some of its elements are no less popular. These are wicker rattan furniture, elements of teak, tulip and rubber wood - standard attributes inherent in the images of the era of colonialism. Typical interior decorations are a carpet woven from plant fibers, chests, suitcases, ethnic figurines, metal and ceramic dishes. Exotic design implies the presence of animal skins, horns and stuffed animals.

In such an interior, a natural range of colors is observed, where calm shades of brown and green prevail. The original style is refreshed by the abundance of potted plants (palms, bamboo, ferns) that complete it.

How to choose the style of apartment renovation depending on the sign of the zodiac

In recent years, when designing home designs, it has become fashionable to take into account the zodiac constellations corresponding to the date of birth of the owners. Designers, in unison with psychologists, argue that the design of an apartment, taking into account the horoscope, not only diversifies its appearance, but also reveals the soul of a person.

Strictness and conservatism are typical for winter signs. Sagittarians find special comfort in the Art Nouveau style. They are impressed by free structures with multi-level floors, a lot of useful (albeit empty) shelves, light wood furniture, large arched windows and a minimum of decor.

Capricorns prefer not to stand out, taking all things seriously and reasonably. A strict modern style of apartment renovation is suitable for their character. Despite the weakness for black and white wall decor, they opt for classic furniture.

Aquarians, on the contrary, want originality and accents. Their spirit corresponds to housing in the Art Nouveau style. The thing is that these people are inconsistent. Now they love modernity, tomorrow they will want a bright contrast in the spirit of eclecticism with its mixture of styles, and an apartment with such a design will delight them.

What suits spring zodiac signs

Romantic Pisces are very secretive natures, prone to secrets. They will suit housing in a rustic country style or French Provence. It happens that an overabundance of all sorts of little things that Pisces prefer turns a country-style apartment into a warehouse of unnecessary things.

Aries are characterized by unpretentiousness, looseness and endurance. So, a Scandinavian-style room will be ideal for them. Interior with modest décor, plain wallpaper, simple furniture and light wood floors. Here is a brief description of the Scandinavian style design suitable for people of this sign.

Taurus will arrange a renovation in the Baroque style, and a four-poster bed will definitely appear in their bedroom. They prefer a lot of voluminous things in the interior, but they will look elegant. Wall molding, massive natural furniture, bookcases, couches, mosaics, large mirrors - these are the main details that confirm the unusually royal taste of Taurus.

What is the weakness of "summer" natures

The home of the Gemini will rather look like a house from the future. They always dream of high-tech. Shiny glass countertops, chairs with chrome legs, glass shelves of shelving, mobile coffee tables on casters are household items that Gemini loves. The inconstancy of these people is expressed in the selection of furniture. The desire for change determines their mood and interior. Therefore, their house needs to be equipped with light furniture, preferably a transformer type.

For Cancers, it is important to build a “shell” around themselves - protection. Therefore, they have a weakness for lace and ruffles, they prefer soft, cozy furniture, that is, everything that belongs to rustic country or Provence style interiors. Fireplaces, natural and wicker furniture are also important for them - attributes of real cozy styles.

Large crystal chandeliers, natural furniture, an old piano - such an apartment renovation in the classic style will please the Lions. This design is imposing with elements of antiquity. The demand for this style lies in its mixing with others. Soothing colors, neutral shades create an atmosphere that is pleasant for restrained and pedantic Leos.

Interior design styles for people born in autumn

From the position of the Devs, classic housing will be an excellent solution. Their interior should be cozy, sophisticated and functional. Warm tones of wallpaper, combined with walnut or mahogany furniture, cozy floor carpets, leather upholstered furniture, tapestries - all this distinguishes the decoration in a classic English style.

Mixed interiors are closer to Libra. A characteristic feature of this design is branded household items. These people prefer appliances of well-known brands and solid expensive furniture, which is not always comfortable. Libra is serious about things, so when arranging an apartment, they will choose harmonious natural shades of green, turquoise and light green without sharp contrasts.

Scorpios feel comfortable where the apartment has been renovated in a minimalist style with laconic forms, clear compositions, lack of decor and monochrome. This sign of the zodiac can completely exclude the decorative parts of the interior and be satisfied with the simplest and most practical furniture. But Scorpios pay great attention to lighting. This refers to the highlights weighed to the smallest detail, enlivening the room, where Scorpios will be very comfortable.

Cooperate with the company "My Repair" - it is reliable and prestigious. The specialists working here are professionals of the highest level. The company "My Repair" operates throughout Moscow and the Moscow region.

Most interior designers are faced with the fact that their new client does not know what he wants and what he likes. But it should definitely turn out beautiful, comfortable and functional. And this is quite normal. Let's try to figure out how to find your interior style, the atmosphere in which you will live with pleasure.

Watching TV shows, flipping through magazines

TV shows, online or print magazines are a good help in choosing. They give a visual representation of the interiors, thanks to them you can immediately see examples and mark your favorites.

When watching programs, you see the interior in volume, which creates the effect of presence. You can feel with your own eyes the height of the ceilings, the heap of furniture or the illumination of the room. Don't forget to pay attention to the little things too, like freestanding furniture or decor, a particular color or finish. Even one item can set the mood.

Programs and magazines are often updated, talk about fashion trends, which will help you keep up with the times.

Resist the temptation to buy all the furniture in one collection. It looks perfect only in gloss, but in real life such furniture will be boring and tasteless.

Choose furniture that is diverse, but not arguing with each other either in terms of decoration or style. An exception may be individual items, such as a Chinese vase in an English interior or a crystal chandelier in a brutal loft.

Life, geometry, decoration

Decide what is needed from the technical equipment. Perhaps you will come to the conclusion that the high-tech direction is what you are striving for: the maximum of smart and useful, that is, modern intellectual chips integrated into the interior.

In addition to the necessary things, do not forget what you generally like. Listen to the call of forms: straight and clear lines lead to minimalism, smooth roundness gravitate towards the classics, streamlined forms result in futurism.

And to understand what suits you from finishing materials, call on all your five senses to help. Breathe in the smell of wood - use parquet and eco-finishing. Feel the breeze of the sea and the rays of the sun - paint the walls in colors of warm cheerful tones. Feel the power of metal and look through the transparency of glass - plunge into the world of an industrial loft. Touch the cracks of antique products - as if hints of Provence and retro were taken out of a chest with worn leather. Close your eyes, imagine, remember what you like.

Don't give up strict geometry because corners are dangerous for children, and tactilely pleasing surfaces because of the sharp claws of pets.

Hard round surfaces can be hit just as hard (and there are many ways to minimize such risks). And it is impossible to avoid damage to the finish from time to time, unscrupulous neighbors from above or cracks during shrinkage of the house.

Weather outside, colors inside

Think Scandinavian interiors (eg IKEA design). In Scandinavia, most of the time it is cool, damp, overcast. The weather is echoed by the interiors - light or dark, but discreet, with cold shades of white, gray, blue. Monotony is diluted with accents. A yellow chair among one-faced furniture neighbors, cheerful intricate prints among woolen blankets and rugs, natural wood to add comfort, a lot of greenery as a juicy note.

Spain, Mexico are famous for their explosive temperament, colorful colors have been woven into their lives since ancient times. So do their traditional interiors. The inhabitants of these countries do not get tired of bright fabrics, furniture and decor.

In the Mediterranean, it would seem, there is so much sun that you want to go into the cool shade of your home. But no, its inhabitants also let a lot of light and cheerful colors into the house - yellow, terracotta. If the walls look like background, white, then the traditional attachment to one or another color, for example, Greek blue, necessarily pops up.

Brainstorm "I like" your favorite colors, accents, moods.

Colors can refresh the interior or worsen it if chosen incorrectly.

In order not to be mistaken, choose two primary colors, it is advisable to make a color of at least A5 format. Attach different colors to each other and make sure they fit together. Pair them with neutral hues with a slight difference in tone - this will be a great backdrop to support and highlight the two chosen primary colors.

We look at the world around us and listen to ourselves

Traveling is one of the best ways to get new experiences. To search for your interior, you can include not only sights and landscapes in the route. Do not forget to look for details in local interiors, be sure to feel your condition even in a hotel.

A person cannot bring everything he wants into his house, and then get rid of it when it is useless or irritated. Sometimes such mistakes can be avoided precisely in acquaintance with temporary interiors. Or, on the contrary, to be even more convinced of personal affection and comfort.

Traveling and staying in hotels, you can understand what you like and where you feel comfortable.

In order not to get confused and draw the right conclusions, understand whether the fan under the ceiling really saves from the heat, whether the carpet is pleasant for the feet, whether the sofa is comfortable instead of the chair, whether the striped print has already caused irritation on the second day, whether you want to spend evenings at the artificial fireplace, does the jacuzzi justify your "I want and period."

If the history of your country or national traditions is deeply embedded in you, you can safely use them. But don't turn your home into a museum or gaudy set. In an apartment with ceilings of 2.5 meters, columns in the Empire style or Baroque stucco will look suffocating, and lush oriental decoration will look ridiculous in concrete architecture. In this case, it is better to make most of the interior neutral and dilute it with your favorite accents.

If you still have not come to a certain conclusion, you still like everything, or you just don’t have time to do it - tell the designer about your wishes, concerns, needs. A professional will be able to comb them, put them on the shelves, let life and individuality into your interior. That is why at the first stage, instead of filling out template questionnaires, you should personally meet with the designer, relax and discuss your future interior.

Do not be surprised that the designer digs into the depths of your personality, your family: every detail can make you happier. Don't stop dreaming and share it with the designer, don't be shy about your emotions. A professional will be able to extract the necessary information even from your favorite books, movies, music.

In his work, the designer turns into a multifaceted person. He combines a psychologist, consultant, friend, stylist, lawyer, mentor, without forgetting the main thing - to be a person, to be able to listen and understand you.

Do not blindly go to the designer.

The choice of a specialist is a painstaking preparation for the start of work on the design. Select a few professionals based on their portfolio, references, education, approach to work and be sure to discuss all your questions at the meeting. You must feel that this is your person, walking in the same direction as your dreams.

Don't be afraid to dream, and tips in the form of magazines, travel and design tips will help you avoid some mistakes and choose the right interior for you.

What interior style to choose for a future apartment or house? At first glance, everything is quite simple - you just need to find out what preferences the owners have. Yes, of course, stylistic wishes play an important role. But in order for the interior to be relevant, emotionally comfortable and easy to use, it is worth paying attention to a number of factors.

Recently in Interior Design & Decor Online Magazine 4living published an article by the co-leader and lead designer of our studio Geometrium Alexey Ivanov. In his article, Alexey spoke about the main criteria for choosing the style of the future interior.

In this article, we will tell you about what you should pay attention to when choosing the interior in which you will continue to live.

Think about what you like?

Visualization is the first step towards your ideal interior. Before, we recommend that you study interior sites and online interior design publications to the maximum, see what trends are in fashion now, how they differ from each other, what characteristic features they have.

Those photos of interiors that you like are saved in some separate folder on your computer or other device. You may like a photo of the whole room or some individual details, such as a bedside table, some kind of sofa or bar counter, color combinations, etc.

We recommend that you look not just at beautiful interiors around the world, but choose some rooms that are similar to yours in size, windows, etc. It makes sense to look at the beautiful interiors of huge country houses - it’s beautiful, interesting, inspiring, but you need to understand that if you are now planning a renovation in a three-room apartment in a city, then it’s better to look at interiors that are more similar in theme, and vice versa.

After collecting such information, open the folder with saved interiors: we are sure that you will quickly see which style you gravitate towards more.

Having picked up a sufficient amount of such a material plan in advance, it will be easier for you to tell the designer how you see your future apartment or house, what kind of atmosphere you would like to achieve in it.

What budget do you plan to invest in a new interior?

The next step is budget planning. To resolve this issue, it will be easiest for you to seek advice from the designer.

The fact is that a new design and renovation is not only a beautiful picture and furniture that you like - it is also wall processing, installation work, preparation of floors and ceilings, electrical wiring, etc. In order to calculate all this correctly, you need to contact a specialist who can tell you exactly how much and what materials you will need, how much it will cost approximately and how long it will take.

As a rule, the most expensive are the classic styles, and one of the cheapest is the Scandinavian style in the interior.

But, and here it all depends on the selected materials, brands of furniture, etc. Therefore, the same style in different configurations can cost differently.

So, for example, the situation is with modern styles, which our design studio specializes in: we always consider and offer customers several options for estimates so that you can choose the option that is more acceptable and convenient for you.

Interior for an apartment where several people live

If you do not live alone, then before choosing a style, it is better to have a general conversation and choose the option that everyone will like. Of course, sometimes it can be difficult to combine everything that different people like in one style, but here, too, viewing visualizations of various interiors together can help.

If you still can’t agree, then again, we recommend that you contact the designer, tell him about which options you have a choice between, which elements of this or that style cause you disputes. Most likely, a real specialist will be able to offer you some interesting middle option that will suit both disputing parties.

It is very important that every member of your family likes the interior, because, among other things, the atmosphere of your home is formed from this.

How to choose an interior for another person?

If you decide to make repairs not for yourself, but for one of your relatives or friends, then also try to first find out what they like and what kind of interior they dream of for themselves. You can also do this with the help of visualizations of various interior styles on the Internet or special magazines.

Which interior is better to choose for business?

When designing an interior for a cafe, restaurant, rental apartment, hotel, etc. first of all, you need to think about who your target audience is, what these people like, what they expect to see when they come to you.

In our practice, we quite often encounter one serious mistake in this matter, when a customer makes an interior, for example, for a cafe or restaurant, based only on his taste preferences, without first finding out what his future visitors like.

In the future, due to such indiscretion, the restaurant may seem unprofitable and bring less income than it would have done if a study of the preferences of the target audience had been carried out, and the interior design would have been developed based on it.

The connection between building architecture and your interior

Good design is harmony, it is beauty inside and out. It probably doesn't make much sense to do heavy Greek bas-reliefs or use the rococo style while living in a modern apartment complex. Most likely, such an interior may seem vulgar.

In the same way, living in a palazzo in Venice, we expect to see a certain style in the interior, and we will be very surprised if stained glass windows are suddenly replaced with standard double-glazed windows.

This does not mean that if your apartment is located in an old fund, then only baroque or classical styles will suit you. Of course, you can play on the contrast and, preserving the atmosphere of the old house, create an interior in a modern style there.

And in the same way, those of you who live in modern residential complexes, but are great connoisseurs of the classical style, can make interiors for themselves in it. It is possible and even necessary to play on contrasts, it can turn out to be very interesting and beautiful if professionals act and harmony and beauty are observed in everything.

I conditionally divide architects and designers into several categories, based on their communication with the customer.

The first category is people who follow the client's lead, guided by the rule "any whim for your money." There are two options here: either these are people who really need money and they omnivorously take everything just to earn some money, or this is the second subtype - not so much thinking about the client as about stuffing their own pocket.

The first one is an excellent professional who has found his own style and has an excellent vision of the object. He has the right to consider his professionalism so high, and himself literate, that, following the lead of the client, he can destroy the whole concept and, moreover, fail to fulfill his plan. Or, in another case, such designers have “grown up” so much that they take only the work in which they can fully realize their ideas according to the principle “only this way and nothing else”. Often such maestros are right and have a fairly large experience.

The second subtype is scandalous types, most often fashion designers. Their confidence sometimes borders on arrogance, being "in the image" they "follow the brand." These guys can throw tantrums, scream, be offended and make scandals. It is difficult to work with them, but they sometimes have a delicate taste and understanding of modern trends. The result can exceed expectations, or it can ruin the mood and distrust these people forever. Both of them know what they want and see the result. You need to contact them only if you are ready to fully trust and observe the process from the outside, laying out the next portion of the money.

When you choose a professional in this field, look at the portfolio. Modern technologies allow visualization of interiors of such good quality that it cannot be distinguished from reality. It is very important to have completed work. It is necessary that a person not only be able to come up with something, but also clearly know how to implement it. Ask to draw a constructive knot and draw a conclusion about the understanding of the topic, even if you yourself do not understand anything about it. A professional will tell you everything very patiently and intelligibly. It is not at all necessary that you will like the portfolio in terms of style, look more at the design approach.
