How to hang horizontal blinds. Installation, repair and maintenance of horizontal blinds. Installation of vertical blinds

If you decide to install blinds yourself, then you should be prepared for the fact that this is a rather difficult job.

For plastic windows there is a special type of horizontal blinds of the cassette system - Isolite.

It will help to install horizontal blinds (not to be confused with the concept of vertical) instruction - installation guide.

The first thing to do is to choose the installation option for horizontal blinds, that is, choose the side on which the control mechanism will be located (this rule also applies to vertical ones).

Window measurement scheme

The next step is to take measurements of the window openings on which the blinds will be installed, taking into account the shape of the window openings. It is recommended to take measurements in the middle of the measured opening and along the edges. This will compensate for the possible non-straightness of the walls of the room. Measurements are advised to be performed with a metal tape measure. The resulting values should not be rounded.

When measuring window openings, pay attention to whether there are door or window handles, heaters nearby. Since they can become an obstacle to the installation and rotation of the slats.

Blinds should hang freely and easily rotate around its axis. It is recommended that they do not touch the window sill or other obstacles.

Bracket mounting scheme

To match the width of the horizontal to the width of the openings, add 20 - 40 mm. To match the height, about 50 - 70 mm is added to the height of the window opening. This will take into account the fact that the side slopes of the windows may not be completely vertical.

The next step is to purchase the product strictly according to the measured dimensions.

Once you have purchased your blinds, open the package and find all the parts you need to install. Namely:

  • screws;
  • two metal brackets;
  • horizontal blinds.

List of tools

  • screwdriver or Phillips screwdriver;
  • pencil or marker;
  • self-tapping screws with dowels 6-8 mm in size;
  • concrete drill - 6-8 mm;
  • cordless or electric drill.

Installation instructions

Blinds installation scheme

  1. To mark the attachment points, mark these places at a distance of about 60 cm from each other, and about 20 cm from the edges of the top bar. Having made the markup, keep in mind that the bracket should not fall on the caliper, latch or control mechanism.
  2. Fix the brackets to the ceiling, wall or window sash. If you are fixing the product to the ceiling or wall, then attach both brackets (they are marked: left -LH / GH, right - RH / DH) to the top of the opening, stepping back about 20-30 mm , mark two screw holes with a pencil. Drill holes 30-40 mm deep with a drill.
  3. Fasten the brackets with self-tapping screws to the top of the window slope.
  4. Insert the profile into the left and right brackets. Attachment to the PVC window frame with hinged brackets can be done without drilling the window profile. Here special brackets for plastic windows are used.
  5. Turn the bracket latches counterclockwise until they stop.
  6. Insert the upper eaves into the brackets and turn the latches clockwise until they stop.

Assembly

It is necessary to assemble horizontal blinds strictly according to the scheme. The slats should be placed along the rope ladder strictly at the same distance from each other. Attach the lamellas to the eaves using the sliders. At the bottom, the lamellas are connected by a chain. A control cord passes through the lifting mechanism inside the cornice, which connects the slats to each other. Important! Make sure that the runners move in the ledge without effort. The cord and rope should also move freely.

Installation completed. Be sure to check the quality of the functioning of your blinds!

Installation of ready-made blinds on the windows does not require any special skills. Moreover, for this, in general, simple work, professional installers sometimes have to pay quite a lot of money.

Therefore, it would be most advisable to mount the blinds to the ceiling with your own hands. To do this, it will be possible to get by with improvised tools that are in the arsenal of any home master.

Aesthetics and practicality

More recently, blinds were perceived only as a kind of foreign exoticism. But rather quickly, our fellow citizens, accustomed to traditional curtains and curtains, were able to appreciate the practicality of use and the aesthetic beauty of these structures.

Since then, the "triumphal procession" of these light-shielding devices, invented back in the 18th century in the United States, began in the apartments and offices of our country. Today they are no longer perceived by us as something unusual - more and more owners of residential and office premises prefer these easy-to-use lattice structures.

The only negative that can be pointed out is the higher price of blinds compared to classic fabric curtains. However, the total cost of the structure can be reduced if you install it on the windows on your own.

Design features of blinds

Vertical blinds

Today in our market there are several types of blinds, differing from each other in the features of their design. Depending on their variety, the methods of attaching blinds also differ:

  1. Horizontal blinds. Reiki (or the so-called "lamellas") in this design are located one above the other. The access of light to the room is regulated here by turning the lamellas around their axis, as a result of which they either press tightly against each other or form a gap. It is necessary to install such structures, as a rule, directly on the window frames.
  2. Vertical blinds. They differ from the first option in the arrangement of lamellas hanging from top to bottom. Adjustment of light access in this case can be carried out both by turning the slats, and by moving them to the side, as with conventional fabric curtains. In this case, fasteners for blinds are located directly above the window - on the wall above the window opening or on the ceiling.
  3. "Roman curtain". It is one of the varieties of horizontal devices. Only the access of light here is regulated not by turning the rails, but by lifting the entire structure: the curtain goes up, rolling up into a roll. Fasteners for blinds of this type are also located either on the wall, above the window, or on the ceiling.

The material from which the devices can be made is very different - aluminum, wood, fabric. But this in no way affects the features of the installation of fasteners for blinds. As a result, we have two main types of fastening:

  • directly on the window frame (for horizontal type devices);
  • on the wall or ceiling (mounts for vertical blinds).

If during the work some damage is caused to the blinds, then it will not be possible to exchange them for others. Damage caused by self-assembly is not covered by the warranty.

Installing blinds on a wall or ceiling

Blinds mounting scheme

The main device with which vertical blinds are attached is the cornice. Swivel and sliding mechanisms are installed in it, and lamellas hanging down are attached to it.

Preparatory work

To attach the eaves of a vertical device to a wall or ceiling, you will need the following tools:

  • impact drill or hammer drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • pencil.

Before proceeding with the installation of the eaves, you should make all the necessary measurements. In terms of height, the cornice should be installed in such a way that the lamellas hang down at least 5-10 cm below the window or window sill.

At the desired height, we mark a point on the wall and, using a level with a pencil, draw a strip along which the cornice will be attached. On this line, mark a point exactly coinciding with the middle of the window.

Cornice installation

Next, we will need to determine the points for installing fasteners - dowel-nails. To do this, we apply a cornice from a set of blinds to the line in such a way that its center corresponds to the mark of the center of the window.

If the part already has holes for fasteners, then we put points in these places on the wall or ceiling, depending on where you intend to attach the cornice. If there are no ready-made technical holes, then they will have to be done by yourself with a drill, stepping back a few centimeters from the edge of the eaves.

Then, using a puncher or impact drill, we drill a wall (ceiling) and hammer a plastic dowel into the hole.

We again apply the cornice in place so that the mounting holes in the cornice coincide with the dowels installed in the wall or ceiling, and with the help of self-tapping screws we fix it in the desired position.

In the case of a significant width of the cornice or the overall massiveness of the structure, it is recommended to additionally fix the cornice in the center in one or two places.

Installing blinds on window frames

This installation method is mainly used for horizontal devices. Unlike attaching a cornice to a wall or ceiling, this method is difficult for many home craftsmen.

Many do not quite understand how to attach the structure to the frame of plastic windows. Meanwhile, all the same self-tapping screws or screws are used for this.

In this case, when drilling an aluminum or PVC frame with a self-tapping screw, the tightness of the window does not suffer at all.

To do this, as in the first case, we make markings in such a way that the blinds evenly protrude beyond the edges of the glazing both on the right and on the left. In this case, we take into account that all preliminary measurements were made even before the purchase of the blinds, and they exactly match the dimensions of your window. We install the blind holders directly on the window frame, using metal screws (for aluminum frames) or ordinary screws (for PVC frames) for fastening. For more information on installing blinds, see this video:

We snap onto the holders or fasten the bearing cornice - depending on the design features of the device. On the cornice we sequentially install rotary mechanisms with control cords. It is also possible to install blinds of this kind in the inter-frame space if you have double wooden frames installed in your house.

The light protection device is mounted on the inner frame from the side facing the outer frame. To control the blinds, in this case, a hole is drilled in the upper part of the frame, through which the cords of the rotary system are threaded. For information on how to install blinds without screws, see this video:

As you can see, the installation of any type of blinds on the windows can be easily done by hand. This will allow you to significantly save on calling a team of professional installers. To carry out the work, it is enough to have only a standard set of home construction tools and the necessary fasteners.

To save money, you can try to fix the blinds with your own hands. This work is not difficult, you just need to correctly mark the slope or frame, depending on where you need to fix the structure. You can use different ways to install such curtains, the choice is made on the basis of design features and dimensions.

Overview of types of curtains blinds

For different objects, the design of windows of a certain style and functionality is selected. Lamellas in the design can be arranged in different ways: vertically, horizontally.

Horizontal blinds

You can find different types of arrangement: pleated, inter-frame, attic, bamboo roller shutters, roll shutters belong to the same group. The main distinguishing feature is the horizontal slats. They can have different thicknesses, widths and function differently. Such structures can be attached to a slope, a frame, they are also installed on top of a window block or inside a frame. It all depends on the size of the windows and the preferences of the owner of the home.

Construction of horizontal models

Classical horizontal blinds can be safely installed in premises with a variety of purposes: offices, private housing, production sites, administrative, retail and educational facilities. These are universal designs that are found in various shades.

Vertical blinds

Such curtains are usually mounted on top of windows, which is due to structural features: vertically oriented slats, most often made of woven material. There are two main types of such structures: floor-length or window sill-length.

General view and arrangement of vertical models

This is one of the reasons why it is customary to install such curtains in private houses, apartments and offices. Installation of blinds of this type is carried out on self-tapping screws. There is an alternative installation option - to the ceiling surface.

Roller blinds

Blinds for windows in this design combine two types of curtains: classic fabric and horizontal plastic. They are equipped with a continuous sheet of various types of material, close the double-glazed window, and, if necessary, rise, folding into a roll.

Roller blind device

Blinds of this type are fastened with self-tapping screws, as well as brackets. You can hang them in various interiors.

Mounting options

Horizontal and vertical curtains are characterized by individual design features. Based on this, various fastening methods have been developed:

Mount 1: For vertical structures

Vertical blinds can be mounted under the ceiling or over windows. Such blinds cannot be installed on plastic windows without drilling.

Mount 2: On a horizontal view

Structures with horizontally oriented slats in the standard version are attached directly to the window sashes, to the upper slope. Horizontal blinds without drilling can be placed in any design only on the sashes of the window block.

Fastening for vertical horizontal models to the wall

But the inter-frame analogue was created exclusively for installation in the space between the window frames. There are restrictions on installation to the upper slope, in particular, inter-frame and attic blinds are not attached in this way. If the installation is done by hand, it is imperative to take into account the design features of the products when choosing the installation method.

Preparation, measurements

Useful tools: screwdriver / screwdriver, tape measure, carpenter's pencil. In order for curtains to function as efficiently as possible, measurements must be taken correctly. The design should be symmetrical with respect to the double-glazed window.

If blinds without drilling are attached with adhesive tape, it is possible to correct errors. For analogues mounted on brackets and self-tapping screws, you need to markup as accurately as possible.

To fix vertical curtains, it is enough to measure the dimensions of the window opening, the distance between the attachment points and the length to the bottom edge of the curtain. This will allow you to correctly position the structure relative to the level of the floor and the window opening.

Horizontal blinds are often installed on the sashes, so the main measurements relate to the double-glazed window: height, width of each glass. To these values \u200b\u200badd 2 cm along the upper edge and bottom, 0.5 cm on the sides.

Installation of vertical blinds

Anyone can do the installation of such curtains with their own hands. If the blinds are short, they can be placed inside the window openings. Otherwise, the installation is carried out on the wall or under the ceiling.

For error-free fastening, a consistent instruction is given:

Step 1: Markup

The center point of the window opening is determined and correlated with the center of the blinds eaves. You need to make your own marks along the edges of the structure. The points for installing self-tapping screws are marked on both sides of the eaves closer to the center of the window block by about 5-6 mm.

Attach the cornice to the wall so that the center of the cornice coincides with the center of the window, and make marks along the edges.

Step 2: Look at the level

At the same time, it is necessary to assess whether the lamellas are correctly positioned. Their lower part should be 1-2 cm above the floor level. The same amount must be retreated when installing short curtains (up to the windowsill).

Step 3: Mounting brackets

Dowels are installed in do-it-yourself holes prepared in advance. Brackets are fixed, this is done using self-tapping screws. Further, special clips are installed on these elements.

Be careful with the puncher when drilling for the bracket fasteners, otherwise part of the wall may break off.

Step 4: Installation of slats and chains

A cornice is attached, into which it remains only to insert the runners and directly hang the vertical lamellas themselves on them. The final touch is the chain attachment.

The slats must be hung exactly in the order in which they are folded in the package. Otherwise, you can break the pattern of the blinds.

Installation of horizontal

Guided by the markings made earlier, you can do the fastening of a horizontal structure with your own hands. There is an instruction for this:

  1. First you need to fix the upper fasteners. To do this, using a screwdriver, holes are prepared that will allow you to install the brackets using self-tapping screws.
  2. Next, you need to hang the cornice, it is fastened until it clicks.
  3. Holes for the lower fasteners (corners) are drilled taking into account the dimensions of the thread retainer connecting the lamellas. Typically, the design of blinds requires holes to be made on the sides of the glass. Then the latch, which is connected to the lamella web, can be easily inserted into the corners.

Do-it-yourself installation must be done with the utmost care, otherwise the blinds will not function correctly.

Methods for fastening roller blinds

When deciding how to install blinds on a window, the first task is to determine the appropriate method of fastening. The roll structure is mounted both on self-tapping screws and with the help of an adhesive (adhesive tape, liquid nails).

2 ways of attaching rolled curtains to pvc windows, to l-shaped brackets and to adhesive tape

In the first case, the installation technology of vertical curtains is taken as a basis, since roller blinds require fastening only in the upper part of the structure. To "plant" the structure on the adhesive, the surface of the windows is cleaned and degreased. This will improve the adhesion of materials.

This option is suitable for double frames. Installing an inter-frame plastic curtain is a complex process and involves the need to violate the integrity of the frame profile: holes are drilled (2 pcs.) To output the blinds control system (handle and cord).

They should be located at the top of the inner sash. Brackets are installed on the upper profile, the technology for mounting horizontal blinds is taken as a basis.

Basic tips for choosing:

  • Before you purchase a design, you need to clarify the composition of the kit, in particular, the presence of fasteners;
  • If the installation is easy to do on your own, then it is better to entrust the repair of curtains to the master;
  • Plastic is easier to care for;
  • It is not recommended to clean the new design too often, as this will cause the protective coating to wear off quickly.

For example, horizontal blinds can be positioned as inside in any convenient way. However, the most popular option is on top of the sash. The interframe structure is more difficult to install, and the vertical counterpart can only be located above the window or under the ceiling due to its large dimensions.

Installing blinds on windows is not such a difficult process, you can do it yourself. There are different ways of fastening for different types of curtains and each of them has its own installation nuances.

Mounting methods

There are three types of blinds fastening: to the wall, ceiling, directly on the frame, and two ways - with and without drilling. The universal basis of any fastening is a cornice, which is attached to a wall, frame or ceiling in various ways.

with drilling

Fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws and brackets, on which the cornice, fishing line is installed. Additionally, you will need a pencil, ruler, drill, screwdriver.

First you need to make a markup in those places where the brackets will be located. For reliability and accuracy in the marked places, it is necessary to drill holes for the clamps. Then, applying the brackets in turn to the PVC frame, fix them to the markup with a screwdriver. Next, a cornice is installed and the whole structure is assembled as a whole.

without drilling

If in the future it is planned to replace blinds or other window decoration options, it is not recommended to damage plastic windows. Holes from self-tapping screws will remain in the frame forever and significantly spoil the appearance of windows. In this case, it is easier to turn to a method that does not require drilling.

Brackets in this case are attached in two ways:

  • for the upper part of the PVC profile on the opening sashes(you can just hang it like a hook);
  • on double sided tape, which can be glued without fear of leaving marks.

A special approach requires fastening the blinds on the balcony. The balcony structure plays an important role here. The choice of these or those blinds and the method of their fastening depends on the type of glazing.

In general, almost all options are available for balconies. Particular attention should be paid to the type of blinds, since not all of them are universal for different types of windows.

For example, horizontal blinds are not suitable for a balcony with sliding windows, as they can be deformed during operation or from strong winds.

The nuances of installing different types of blinds

Horizontal

A light-shielding design with a horizontal arrangement of slats that has become familiar, almost classic for window decoration. Advantages:

  • Compactness. Are established directly on a window, leaving a window sill free. This saves space and allows you to place greenery on the window in favorable conditions for it.
  • Light weight design.
  • The strength and rigidity of the lamellas, preventing deformation.
  • Fire safety.

  • Simple control mechanism.
  • Special coating or impregnation against dust, dirt, odors and grease.
  • Resistant to humidity and temperature extremes.
  • Different materials for the manufacture of lamellas: wood, plastic, aluminum, less often fabrics.
  • Easy installation.
  • Affordable price.

It is worth mentioning some of the disadvantages:

  • When mounted on a frame, the angle of inclination is limited window sashes when opened.
  • The slats emit a characteristic knock or ringing in the wind. To avoid this, it is necessary to purchase lower fasteners, which are not included in the kit and quickly become unusable.
  • The structure is subject to repair in case of severe deformation of several slats, but it will cost like new blinds.
  • Not suitable for balconies and loggias with sliding windows.

vertical

Blinds, as the name already implies, are a simple and convenient light-shielding structure consisting of longitudinal vertical plates.

Distinguishes them from horizontal ones:

  • More aesthetic appearance. Horizontal blinds are more functional, while vertical ones are decorative.
  • The ability to cover a large area with one cornice. Horizontal blinds, as a rule, consist of narrow slats and are designed for minimalistic decoration of small windows. Vertical models have different widths and easily cover the area of large windows, arches and doorways.
  • Variety of materials. They can be made of wood fibers, wood, aluminum, bamboo, plastic, woven and non-woven fabric, mirror, blackout, filament. The abundance of materials provides another advantage - the variability of colors and textures.
  • Modern and original window decoration, opening up more design possibilities.

  • Simplicity of control mechanisms. Possibly both mechanical and electrical.
  • The ability to place photo printing on the "curtains" due to the larger surface area and better material characteristics.
  • Practicality. Larger lamellas are easier to clean if necessary, which occurs infrequently. If, in case of severe contamination, for example, in a children's room, the slats still need to be subjected to hygienic procedures, it will not take much time - they can be washed by hand and in a washing machine.
  • Possibility of installation on non-standard windows(triangle, trapezium, arch, bay window).
  • The structure is in need of repair. To replace a particular part, you do not need to call the master, the repair is simple enough to do it yourself. You can replace the lamellas one at a time without dismantling the entire structure.

Rolled

Roller blinds, roller shutters are solid canvases, often made of textiles, but other materials are also possible, which, like horizontal blinds, roll up.

The height can be adjusted by fixing the curtain with a weighting agent on the bottom bar of the canvas.

There are different types of roller shutters: with an open drum (for mounting directly on the window) and with a decorative cornice; "mini" for installation on each frame separately and "roll-cassette" for curtaining the entire window as a whole.

There is an opinion that roller blinds are the most budgetary and practical option for window decoration, but this is not entirely true.

Of course, roller shutters have their advantages: a variety of natural and synthetic fabrics, colors and patterns, ease of care (wet cleaning is allowed) and operation, the ability to fix the curtain at the desired height, special impregnations from dust, moisture, high temperatures and glare, compatibility with other types of curtains.

A roller blind is convenient if necessary to hide the room from the sun, decorate the window with beautiful tulle so that it is not visible from the street what is happening inside.

But with so many advantages, curtains also have significant disadvantages:

  • The budget price is a delusion. Yes, by itself, a medium-sized curtain made of a common material will be inexpensive, but it will look boring. In order for the window design to be complete, it is necessary to think over additional decor, and this increases the cost at times.
  • Roller blinds in the bedroom, office and rooms with high windows need electrical control. Electric drive designs are expensive, and some manufacturers also produce noise.

  • It is impossible to make a custom-made curtain from a certain textile. You can choose only specific products of a certain brand, since the set of fabrics for the production of roller blinds is very limited: translucent, textured, reflective, perforated, blackout.
  • The maximum width of the roller blind is 280-300 cm, that is, it will not work to close a large area with one cornice, for example, a panoramic window or a balcony.
  • There may be problems with installation not on the wall, but in the window opening, since the bobbin is wider in width than the curtain itself. There will inevitably be gaps on the sides of the window openings. Ceiling or wall mount preferred.

Pleated

This type of blinds is similar to both horizontal and roller blinds. The design consists of a control mechanism (chain or electric drive), weights, pleated fabric, which resembles accordion furs. The range of materials, colors and textures is very diverse.

Peculiarities:

  • They close from top to bottom, like classic canvases, from bottom to top or from both sides at the same time. At the same time, the degree of density of the "accordion" can be adjusted, thus closing either the upper, or lower, or central part of the window.
  • Suitable for curtains irregular windows.
  • The optimal solution for attic, attic, ceiling and inclined windows.
  • “Opening”, the canvas is compactly folded and hides inside the eaves.

  • Suitable for installation on all types of windows and glass panes.
  • Various mounting methods and control mechanisms (manual and electric).
  • The woven fabric is washable.
  • Curtains can be made from two types of fabric at the same time, which makes it possible to adjust the degree of transparency, darkness, protection from the sun.
  • Easy installation can be done by hand.

Kinds

  • Classic. In appearance, they are most similar to horizontal blinds, however, they can also be vertical. Made from fabric, paper or plastic. Designed for darkening the room, protection from heating by sunlight, zoning the interior space of the room.

  • Inclined. A kind of pleated window, especially for windows that are located at an angle in the attic or ceiling. Their feature is in a specific assembly system, which does not allow the web of any material to sag when at an angle. Mostly inclined models are produced with electronic control.

  • Corrugated. This type is a vertical and horizontal double pleat. As a result, the folds look more even, neat and dense. Corrugated plastic and paper in this design absorbs a significant part of the heat and protects from bright light.

  • Arched. The most flexible canvases that take any shape, like a paper fan. A good solution for rooms with non-standard window shapes (arches, trapeziums, triangles, beveled windows).

  • "Day Night". The canvas of such blinds consists of two layers of fabric: a light fabric that transmits a large amount of light for daytime use and a dense, dark fabric for protection from the bright sun during the day and prying eyes in the evening.

Cassette

Such systems involve either the use of horizontal slats or a solid web, but are not horizontal blinds or roller blinds.

They differ in the types of cassettes (angular, round, flat), control (various types of mechanical and remote), materials used (plastic, textiles, bamboo, aluminum).

Their main feature lies in the design, the special structure of which makes it possible to fix the blinds at a minimum distance from the window glass. This prevents deformation, sagging, the appearance of wrinkles and irregularities, and completely opens the window sill.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Cassette blinds occupy a minimum of space, leaving the owners the opportunity to show imagination and organize additional window decor or leave the window sill as a functional surface.
  • Simple and clear type of management.
  • Long service life. Special impregnation protects the cloth from dust, grease, dirt, moisture, abrasion.
  • Ease of hygiene procedures. Cassette systems do not require special care. It is enough to wipe their small surface area with a damp sponge and soapy water every few months.

  • A variety of designs for the interior in any style.
  • The snug fit of the canvas to the glass surface protects equally well from heat and cold.
  • The ability to mount the system yourself.
  • A variety of materials - from light window decoration to total blackout protection.
  • The ability to combine blinds with curtains, tulle, lambrequin.

Measurements and tools

The final result depends on how correctly the measurements are taken. Even expensive beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the lamellas constantly lift up against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • For the most accurate readings steel tape measure and metal screws are used.
  • Numbers cannot be rounded., the accuracy must be maintained to millimeters.
  • When ordering blinds the width parameter is specified first, the length parameter is specified second.
  • No standard window opening has absolutely perfect geometric shapes., therefore, measurements up and down must be made at least at two points.

Horizontal

If you plan to mount blinds on the movable half of the window, you will need to measure the gap between the glazing beads and add at least 30 mm, which will prevent gaps in the structure. The height of the blinds is equal to the height of the window sash. To install a window inside the opening, measurements are required at three points in height and width, since the openings are not always absolutely proportional.

The width is identical to the wide side of the glass plus the thickness of the rubber seal. The length is identical to the height of the window (including elastic bands) with a margin of 1 cm. To install the cornice, an additional 30-40 cm will be required to the slopes and hinges. The chain of command is 2/3 of the height of the window. When choosing to fix the cornice to the wall, the width parameter increases by 10 cm, the height is measured from the point of attachment of the brackets to the floor arbitrarily.

vertical

When installing in the armhole of the window, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right sides of the arch, subtract 1 cm from the smaller value. For wall mounting, at least 10 cm must be added to the wide side of the slope. The length of the lamellas can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor. at 100+ mm.

Rolled

For mounting the canvases to the wall, only one measurement is required - from the edge of the window sill to the markup for the brackets, and the width can be up to 300 cm. 15 mm.

Pleated blinds similarly do not require a professional approach in taking measurements and installation.

How to hang on the wall yourself?

Installation work on window decoration requires certain skills and experience, but if you want to try it yourself, you need to take into account some of the nuances and features in this work. Installation of blinds begins long before the preparation of the work surface and a set of tools.

The first step in this process is a balanced decision about the type and variety of blinds, material, color and texture, depending on the functionality of the room.

So, it is more expedient to choose vertical blinds for the living room that let in light, for the bedroom - automatic roller blinds with electric blackout fabric, and for the kitchen, where the smells of cooking and combustion products of food products are constantly hovering - plastic blinds that do not absorb grease and dirt.

The second important point is the correct markup. Much depends on it, including how easy the installation process will be.

If all the features of the architecture of window openings are taken into account by specialists when ordering blinds from them, everything will go smoothly and easily without the help of professional installers. It is also important to consider whether it will be possible to open the window after installation, how the light protection devices will work, and whether there is a risk of their deformation.

The installation of blinds must be carried out exactly with the markup and subsequent verification of the functionality of the structure. Here the most important point is the choice between fastening - with or without drilling. It is also necessary to provide for the type of control.

For low windows, one of the varieties of mechanical control is an excellent solution. Roof windows, slanted windows, windows in the bedroom are suitable for magnetic, automatic (electric) control with an electric drive.

Ceiling Mounting Instructions

  • First of all, you need to mount the blinds, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel. Then this design must be fixed to the ceiling in order to mark up for mounting.

  • The second step is to attach the brackets to the adhesive tape at the top of the frame and the string tensioner at the bottom. It is not necessary to pre-attach them with tape, but it is desirable to eliminate problems with subsequent drilling of holes for the screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted in the mechanisms.

What is the best way to install automatic electric window blinds?

Automatic blinds are the most convenient way to decorate a window for self-execution.

They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the frame with drilling, to the frame without drilling. In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with or without a decorative facade.

The brackets on which the structure rests are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued on double-sided tape.

Special adhesive tape, despite the seeming impracticality, is fixed very firmly, so it is important to correctly mark the brackets for installation. Once they are glued, moving them will be very problematic.

Installation order:

  • Preparing tools. You will need a stepladder, a set of self-tapping screws from the kit, a building level and drawing accessories, a drill, a screwdriver.
  • Applying pencil markings for installing brackets. To securely fix the fasteners, it is recommended to drill holes for self-tapping screws at the same stage.
  • Mounting brackets in a suitable way (with or without drilling).
  • Cornice installation.

  • functionality and practicality of fasteners;
  • keep in mind that not all types of fasteners are suitable for window blocks;
  • practicality of blinds;
  • it is better to choose plastic or fabric material for a balcony, wood and bamboo can create unnecessary noise.

What are the best blinds for a balcony?

For balconies and loggias, plastic blinds are best suited, because:

  • they are easy to clean and wash;
  • do not lose their appearance for a long time;
  • sun resistant.

Before taking measurements, you need to decide where you want to install the blinds:

  • on the window sash itself;
  • on the part of the wall above the window;
  • in the window opening.

How to take correct measurements?

If you decide to install blinds yourself, then you need to know a few important points. Windows do not always represent a completely even shape, therefore, for measurements it is better to use a steel tape measure and measure everything to the millimeter, in different places of the opening.

For a certain type of fastening, there are some nuances in measurements:

  1. If you decide to install blinds on the wall, above the window opening, you should understand that the cornice will take approximately 5 cm. You can determine the length of the blinds yourself: either they will completely cover the window opening, or only to the lower edge of the window. According to the width of the blinds, it should be installed: 10 cm more than the opening;
  2. When installing blinds on a window sash, you need to measure the distance between the two vertical glazing beads (this will be the mount). You also choose the length yourself, and the width should be chosen 3 cm more glass to avoid unnecessary clearance;
  3. Placing blinds in the window opening is considered the most difficult procedure. Parameters are measured: by the width and height of the window, while the height is considered: as the length of the glass with an addition of 1 cm, to close the rubber seals. It is important to consider that when folded, the blinds do not interfere with opening the window.

Basic window mount options

There are two main methods for installing blinds on plastic windows, with and without a drill. The slats of the blinds are located on the cornice, and how this cornice will be held on the window, at the top of the wall or in the window opening, depends on the installation method.

Drilling installation method

Blinds on plastic window sashes - fastened for each separately.

The cornice is applied to the upper edge of the sash and the places of its fastening are indicated. For greater accuracy, at the places of fastening with screws, it is better to drill neat holes in advance. We attach the bracket, screw in the screws and fasten the cornice.

After you need to fix the fishing line that holds the lamellas. We make small holes directly opposite the exit of the fishing line under the glazing beads at the bottom of the sash. We thread the fishing line into the plugs, and fix the plugs themselves into the holes.

The drilling method is used - placing cornices on the ceiling or on the wall over the window. To do this, make appropriate holes into which dowels are hammered and brackets are attached with screws.

Fastening method without drilling

Holes in the window sashes and on the walls can cause a lot of inconvenience when you decide to remove the blinds. Therefore, you can use analog types of bracket mounting on windows:

  • Using double sided tape.
  • For the top of the opening sash, when the bottom is fixed with small magnets;

This method is very easy to use, moreover, it does not injure the window frame and walls. To remove the blinds, to clean from dust, with such an attachment - will not be difficult.

Unlike window frames, blinds have a strict geometric shape, the slightest curvature of the fastening will immediately appear on the outside.
