Izospan characteristics application. Characteristics and application of isospan a. The scope is quite wide

Is the forthcoming choice of waterproofing materials difficult? I thought about this before, until I met the Izospan A wind-moisture protective membrane. Having gained experience in this matter, I am ready to talk about its purpose, main properties, and installation nuances.

Material Features

General information

Izospan A is a single-layer vapor-permeable membrane from a well-known Russian manufacturer of the same name. Its main task is to protect the insulation or just the walls from the penetration of moisture and wind. Therefore, it is mounted from the outside before facing.

The principle of operation of the membrane in terms of removing moisture to the outside is as follows:

  • Moisture collection. One side of the membrane has a rough surface. Thanks to this, she collects steam coming from the room;

  • Moisture output. The moisture accumulated on the surface seeps through the microperforation;
  • Moisture removal. On the back side, moisture evaporates or rolls down.

From this diagram, it becomes clear which side to lay the membrane - rough inside (toward the insulation or the room). Keep in mind that placing it incorrectly can cause the film to work less efficiently.

To summarize all of the above, then this Izospan film performs the following functions:

  • Wall protection from the wind;
  • Protection against atmospheric moisture;
  • Removal of moisture from the room;
  • Improving the thermal insulation qualities of the applied insulation.

Application area

Izospan a can be used in the following cases:

  • When installing ventilated facades;
  • When insulating roofs;
  • When insulating frame walls;
  • When insulating walls from the inside.

To achieve the greatest effect, in most cases, the Izospan b vapor barrier should be used together with the wind protection. Unlike a diffuse membrane, the vapor barrier does not have perforations, i.e. absolutely sealed.

Therefore, Izospan b is always mounted on the inside. Thus, the film protects the insulation and the structure from the penetration of moisture from the room.

After protecting the walls with Isospan insulation, they completely stop breathing. Therefore, such housing needs effective ventilation. Otherwise, the humidity level will be increased in the premises, which will lead to many negative consequences.

Operational properties

The material under consideration has both pluses and minuses, which must be considered when buying wind and moisture protection.

Advantages:

  • Low cost. The price of a membrane roll is on average 1600-1700 rubles. This is the cheapest Izospan model among vapor-permeable membranes;
  • High vapor permeability. The film "breathes" perfectly.

Flaws:

  • Low moisture resistance. If water accumulates on the surface of the film, it may leak inside;

  • Limited scope. The membrane in question does not apply to roofing materials; its main purpose is to protect walls from moisture. For roofing, it is better to use a multilayer membrane of the Izospan D type.

True, the manufacturer allows the use of Isospan A on roofs whose slope exceeds 35 degrees. The only thing is that it is not recommended to use it in conjunction with metal roofs (corrugated board, metal tiles, etc.), regardless of the angle of inclination.

Also this film is not suitable for the floor. For waterproofing ceilings and floors, Izospan B should be used.

Izospan A burns well. Recently, however, a modification of this material has appeared with the prefix OZD, which means "fire-retardant action." Such a membrane can protect the surface not only from moisture, but also from fire.

Characteristics

The vapor permeable membrane has the following technical characteristics:

Mounting technology

Frame type wall insulation

First of all, consider how to install the film with your own hands on the frame walls. This procedure can be broken down into several steps:

So the job is done like this:

Illustrations Description of actions

Materials. To isolate the frame wall, in addition to the Izospan materials that I described above, you will also need:
  • Self-adhesive butyl rubber tape. You can use SL tape from Izospan or an analogue from other manufacturers;
  • Wooden slats section 30x40 mm.

In addition, you will need a construction stapler to fix the film.

These materials are used not only for the insulation of frame walls, but also in all other cases. Therefore, I will not list them further.

Installation of vapor barrier:
  • Stick butyl rubber tape on the racks on the inside of the walls;
  • Roll the roll across the uprights and stick it with the glued double-sided tape. During installation, make sure that waves and folds do not form.

Work from the bottom up.

  • When gluing the second sheet, it is necessary to ensure an overlap of at least 150 mm;
  • Glue the junction of the canvases with adhesive tape;
  • Additionally fix the vapor barrier with a stapler.

The vapor barrier film must be placed with the rough side towards the room.

Installation of a windproof film. After laying the insulation in the space of the frame, a wind and moisture protective film is attached to the walls according to the same principle as the vapor barrier.

As I said above, the membrane is mounted with the smooth side out.

The edge of the film must ensure the drainage of moisture from the walls to the drainage ebb of the basement. Therefore, from below it should have a slight inversion at low tide.

Installation of the counter-lattice. On top of the film, it is necessary to fix the counter-lattice. Depending on the type of facing material, the rails can be installed both vertically and horizontally.

In the same way, you need to install slats on the inside of the walls.

During the installation of the rails, make sure that they are all located in the same vertical plane. It depends on how smooth the walls will turn out.

In the same way, the insulation of a ventilated facade is carried out, so we will not consider this procedure separately.

Installation of the membrane for internal wall insulation

The process of insulation insulation for internal wall insulation has some of its own nuances. The main one is the need to arrange a ventilation gap between the wall and the membrane. It allows moisture to evaporate, allowing the walls to dry out.

The instructions for performing this procedure look like this:

Illustrations Description of actions

Rail installation. The slats must be mounted on the wall in a horizontal position in increments of 2 cm horizontally and 50 cm vertically.

Membrane installation. Attach the membrane to the rails. To form a ventilated gap between the film and the wall, be sure to place the last stretch.

For the ventilation gap to work, it is necessary to make through holes in the wall below and under the visor. Holes can be insulated with mineral wool and closed with a mesh.

Installation of vapor barrier. After installing the vertical racks and insulating the wall, a vapor barrier is attached to the inside of the insulation in the same way as on the frame walls.

Rail installation. To ensure the ventilation gap between the finishing material and the vapor barrier, it is necessary to fix the rails on the frame.

Installation of the membrane on the roof

The moisture and wind protection membrane is mounted on the roof before laying the roofing material. This work is carried out in the following sequence:

Illustrations Description of actions

Membrane installation:
  • A membrane is laid on the rafters (across the rafter legs) in strips from bottom to top;
  • As in previous cases, the fixation of the film is carried out using a stapler;
  • Butyl rubber tape must be glued on top of the film on the logs. In addition, you need to glue the joints of the canvases.

Installation of the counter-lattice. Rails are attached along the log, as shown in the photo, which provide a ventilation gap between the membrane and the roofing material.

Lathing installation. Boards are attached across the rails, on which the roofing is subsequently placed.

Installation of vapor barrier film. To protect the insulated roof from moisture from the inside, Izospan b is attached to the rafters from the side of the room according to the scheme described above.

This completes the roof insulation.

Conclusion

So we figured out what the Isospan A membrane is, in what cases and how it is used. Watch the video in this article for more. If at any point you have questions, leave them in the comments, and I will be happy to answer you.

Any building currently under construction, or already built, industrial or residential, is literally surrounded on all sides by heat-insulating materials. They create comfort in the room, save heat, reduce the influence of atmospheric phenomena such as rain, snow, wind, etc.

But, as it turned out, this reliable heat-insulating layer that protects buildings itself requires protection from both moisture and wind. And such protection is provided by a modern material, one hundred percent polypropylene, which is called isospan A, B, C, D, instructions for use for which we will consider.

Creating a barrier for an already existing barrier is the main purpose of isospan. Let's look at the general technical characteristics of the new isospan heat insulator, see photos and videos, talk about its types and how to install different types of material, and which side to lay it on the insulation.

Izospan: specifications

- the highest strength
– good elasticity
– environmental safety (isospan does not emit harmful substances)
- ability to withstand high pressure

To the above, it can also be added that some types of isospan have fire-fighting properties if special refractory particles were added to them at the production stage. All types of isospan are well resistant to ultraviolet rays and withstand ambient temperatures from -60 to + 80 degrees.

Taking into account the fact that isospan has been developed in several forms, we will touch on in detail the characteristics of the main modifications of the insulator: these are types A, B, C and D. You need to know this if you intend to use isospan in construction or building insulation.

Isospan roofing

Isospan A- this is a kind of membrane that protects the structure from moisture (waterproofing), and helps to remove water vapor from the insulation. It is used to protect walls and facades of premises for any purpose. With its protective properties, it extends the life of the insulation. It can be safely called the wind and waterproof protection of your home.

Tensile strength of the material: 190/140 mm (prod./trans.)
UV stability: 3-4 months
Water resistance: 300 mm
Vapor permeability: not less than 2000

Izospan type A reliably provides thermal protection of the insulation and has:

- good resistance to external mechanical influences
- resistance to harmful substances (chemistry, bacteria)

When installing isospan, the following question often arises: which side to the heater to lay it?

Izospan A is mounted on the outside of the insulation. When installed on an insulated roof, it is cut into wide strips and overlapped so that the smooth surface remains outside.

Installation starts from the bottom of the roof. When working with isospan A, do not allow it to come into contact with itself, since the waterproofing properties of isospan are much reduced with such direct contact.

Make sure that during the installation of this type of isospan there are no swelling or sagging of any kind, because. when the wind gusts, it will create clapping, tapping and other unpleasant noises in the room. Isospan A is fastened with slats using nails. A free space of 5 cm is left between the sides of the insulator. We watch a video about isospan: which side to lay to the insulation.

If isospan A is used as a wind and hydro barrier for insulation, then isospan B you can call it a vapor barrier. Any insulation, even the most modern, is impregnated with water vapor over time. The task of isospan B is to create a barrier to these vapors inside the building.

The material has 2 layers and is used to preserve the surface:

- sloping roof
- interior walls
- frame walls
- attic, basement ceilings

Isospan B properties:

- breaking load prod. / cross. H/5 cm not less than 130/107
- vapor permeability about 7
- water resistance 1000 mm water column

Since isospan B consists of two layers, each side has its own functions. Its smooth part ensures the strength of contact between the insulator and the main layer of insulation. The rough or fluffy side helps retain moisture particles and remove condensation.

Izospan V is laid on the inside of the heat-insulating layer when using a stapler. Installation is carried out in the direction from the bottom up, overlapping, while ensuring tight contact between the materials. On the side with a fleecy surface, it is necessary to create a free space of at least 50 mm.

Isospan B

Izospan C has very similar characteristics with isospan B, they are similar in structure, also have a structure of 2 layers, but isospan C is more durable, heavy-duty, used to protect the floor, interfloor ceilings, cold roofs. The super strength and special reliability of this type also determine its price, which is higher than the price of isospan B.

Isospan C properties:

- Made from 100% polypropylene
- breaking load 197/119 prod./trans. H/5cm
– vapor permeability resistance – 7 m2hPa/mh
- water resistance - 1000 mm w.c.

Isospan C use:

1. Water and vapor barrier of non-insulated sloping roof
2. Flat roof
3. Water and vapor barrier of frame walls
4. Vapor barrier of wooden floors of horizontal type
5. Vapor and moisture insulation of the concrete floor

On pitched roof surfaces, it is installed horizontally, overlapping (15 cm), work takes place from the bottom up. A special tape is applied to the formed joints. Fasteners are made using rails.

When working with ceilings, isospan C is placed on top, overlapping, leaving a small gap of 50 mm from the film, heat insulator and floor. When working with concrete floors, this type of isospan is mounted directly on the concrete surface, and a screed is made on top.

Isospan roof waterproofing

Izospan D is a modern vapor and waterproofing material of increased strength. This type of isospan can be called a polypropylene woven fabric having a two-layer structure.

A feature of isospan D is that, compared with other types of polypropylene materials, it has the ability to withstand very significant mechanical stress during installation, and is also able to withstand a large snow load.

Scope of isospan D

It is used in construction as a hydro- and vapor barrier of under-roofing type, in non-insulated pitched roofs, as well as to protect various structures made of wood. Serves as a reliable barrier against under-roof condensate, as well as atmospheric phenomena in the form of snow, wind, especially in those places where the roof is not laid tightly enough.

Izospan D is used to form a temporary coating layer for waterproofing roofs and walls of buildings (up to 4 months). Also, this type of isospan has proven itself well as a waterproofing layer when working with floors on a concrete and earthen base, and when insulating basements in buildings with high humidity.

Used for insulation:

- flat roof
- concrete floors
- basement ceilings
- sloped roofs

Izospan D

Physical and mechanical properties of isospan D:

- breaking load prod. / cross. H/5cm: 1068/890
— steam permeability resistance m2hPa/mh: not less than 7
- water resistance: 1000 mm w.c.
– UV resistance: 3-4 months.

Izospan D finds its application during work, in order to preserve the internal parts of the house and insulation from the influence of water vapor accumulating inside the room. It should be noted that the installation of isospan D, like other types of isospan, is quite easy, which in itself ensures a good, constantly growing demand for this modern insulating material.

When laying isospan D on a non-insulated roof of an inclined shape, the material is cut directly on the rafters. It does not matter here which side the insulator will be mounted to the surface. Isospan D panels are laid horizontally, overlapping.

Work begins at the bottom of the roof and continues upwards. The joints formed during the laying of the material are connected with a special adhesive tape. The stretched, ready-to-use material is fixed vertically to the rafters with the help of wooden slats and studs.

As you can see, with very good characteristics, a modern insulating material isospan quite easy to use and does not require any special skills and knowledge when laying it. But the functions that isospan will assume will ensure the reliability and durability of your entire thermal insulation system. Let's watch the video.

Izospan is a membrane film used during construction to protect load-bearing surfaces from wind, moisture and steam. The material differs in characteristics and technical properties depending on the type and purpose.

Izospan insulation is made of polypropylene, resistant to mechanical stress, low and high temperatures, mold and mildew. The film is characterized by a long service life and environmental safety.

Izospan vapor barrier is used to insulate roofs, walls, is used in elements of attic floors, is laid on concrete floors under a cement screed and flooring. Films are divided into 4 groups - A, B, C, D, each of them is used for a different purpose.

The building material has an undeniable advantage - it is versatility in use and ease of installation. The vapor barrier is certified and complies with GOST of the State Construction Committee of the Russian Federation.

Waterproof film

Izospan, which protects structures from wind and moisture, is presented in several modifications:

  • Vapor-permeable isospan A - the technical characteristics of this type of material make it possible to use it to protect frame walls and roofs from wind and atmospheric moisture, condensate. On the outside, the film has a smooth, water-repellent coating. The reverse surface is porous, it helps to remove vapors from fibrous insulation materials.
  • Isospan AS brand has the form of a three-layer, vapor-permeable membrane film with increased water-repellent properties.

  • Izospan AF protects against wind and moisture, does not burn. This type of film is intended for use in the insulation of buildings made of flammable materials.
  • The two-layer isospan AM has high water-repellent properties, thanks to an additional layer, the possibility of damage to the material during installation and construction work is excluded. It is recommended for the arrangement of pitched roofs and load-bearing structural elements, insulation of attic floors. The film ensures the removal of vapors from the insulation, protects the room from weathering and accumulation of moisture from under the roof space.

The difference between the films lies in the density of the material, breaking capacity, vapor permeability and hydro-repellent properties. The most dense is isospan brand A and AF (110 g / m²). The AS film has the maximum waterproofing ability, and the AF modification has the least steam transmission.

Metallized films

Izospan with a metallized layer is designed to reflect infrared radiation, thanks to this property not only protection from moisture and wind is achieved, but also excessive heating of the building in hot weather is excluded.

  • Polypropylene film FD is used for laying a protective layer during the insulation of roofs and walls. The material has a high resistance to tearing and mechanical damage.
  • Isospan FX film is used as a base for underfloor heating with infrared heating.

  • Isospan FS modification is a budget option, has a lower density. At the same time, the material retains vapor and waterproofing properties. The film is also used as an infrared screen.
  • Izospan FB has a high vapor resistance, is designed to isolate baths, steam rooms, saunas and other rooms with high temperatures and condensation. Buildings must be mechanically ventilated.

The difference between metallized films is in density, breaking load and vapor permeability. The thermal reflection coefficient for all types of isospan of this group is the same.

Vapor barrier films

A type of film designed to protect external and internal surfaces from steam and moisture, it has a laminated outer layer and a porous inner side. The special structure allows the collection of condensate and prevents it from evaporating. Thanks to this, moisture does not accumulate on the walls, there is no steam in the room, the walls do not get wet.

  • Izospan C vapor barrier has high protective properties, it can be used for insulation of unheated premises as a substrate for laminate flooring, insulation under the roof. The film is able to prevent even leakage in places of loose installation and defects in the installation of roofing.
  • According to the instructions for use, isospan B is used to protect attic roofs, insulation materials from moisture, steam, fungus and mold. The material prevents the penetration of vapors from inside the room, and also isolates the living space from the penetration of particles of wall and roof insulation. Suitable for vapor barrier of premises from any building materials, installation of attic, interfloor and basement ceilings.

  • Universal isospan D has a high density, is able to withstand significant mechanical loads. The film is used in any building elements to protect roofs, walls, floors and wooden floors of attic spaces. This material can be used in the arrangement of flat and pitched, non-insulated roofs, foundations, basement structures.
  • The DM modification includes vapor barrier, moisture-resistant, anti-condensate and heat-reflecting properties. This type of isospan has a wider scope than brand D.

The innovative material is a variety of isospan film RS and RM. Their distinctive feature is an additional reinforced layer of polypropylene mesh. Due to this, the breaking capacity is increased, the canvas can withstand high mechanical loads.

During the construction of frame walls, isospan B is used, the material is laid on the inside of the mineral wool to the supporting elements of the frame using a stapler or nails. The film is fixed with the laminated side to the insulation, the panel is laid from the bottom up with an overlap with a margin of 15–20 cm. For greater tightness, the material is fastened together with a special isospan SL tape. Galvanized profiles are mounted on top to strengthen drywall with a ventilation gap of 4–5 cm.

For the construction of a non-insulated pitched roof, isospan D is used, which provides hydrovapor barrier for structures. The material is laid on wooden roofing rafters, which side to lay the film on does not matter. The panel is fixed, starting from the bottom of the pitched roof, in a horizontal direction, with an overlap at the joints of 15–20 cm or more. It is recommended to glue the seams with a double-sided connecting tape of the Izospan brand KL or SL. The vapor barrier is fixed to the rafters with a construction stapler. A boardwalk is mounted on top for further laying of roofing material.

Instructions for using isospan B during the construction of a pitched insulated roof: the film is strengthened from the inside of the insulation to wooden rafters. The smooth side should fit snugly against the insulation material, the rough surface remains at the bottom. Installation is carried out from the bottom up, in a horizontal way of laying. The panels are overlapped with a margin at the joints of at least 15 cm. Double-sided adhesive tape provides additional tightness at the seams. In places where isospan comes into contact with metal, concrete and other surfaces, the surfaces are glued with one-sided ML proff tape.

For the installation of attic floors, a vapor-permeable hydro-, windproof film AM or AS is used. The membrane is laid on top of the insulation with the light side inward and fixed with a stapler. The overlap of the panels should be at least 15–20 cm. Counter rails and flooring are laid on top of the isospan.

Izospan is a universal building material that can be used to protect walls, roofs and floors from moisture, wind, internal steam and condensate. Films have high wear resistance and long service life.

One of the protective layers used in the process of insulation is a vapor barrier. It implies the presence of good protection of buildings and structures from the effects of condensate and a humid environment. Such layers provide a longer service life for buildings in general and personal elements in particular. Isospan A is widely used for similar purposes, the technical characteristics of which allow for maximum protection.

Many manufacturers are engaged in the production of similar products in the form of a quickly mounted membrane film and all kinds of multilayer sheets that cover walls, ceilings, ceilings, and roofs. The methodology for using the funds may differ slightly depending on the operational parameters of the product.

Membrane Specifications

The manufacturer's membrane material is marked by the manufacturer in such a way that each type of Izospan is used exclusively for its intended purpose. At the same time, the entire range of products is designed to protect structures from precipitation, wind and condensate that forms inside the premises.

The production of non-woven fabric is carried out on CNC machines with mandatory quality control at each stage of production.

The branded membrane has a number of certificates and certificates:

  • hygiene certificate;
  • fire certificate;
  • certificate of conformity to SNiP and GOST;
  • quality control certificate.

Izospan insulation today has no analogues among Russian manufacturers in terms of scope and quality, which is confirmed by the GOSTSTROY certificate.

Product range

The following varieties are on sale:

It is a permeable membrane that is used to protect the walls of the room and the roof from condensate formed due to temperature changes. The resulting evaporation of the liquid among several layers adds to the resistance of the covered materials. In the roof of such an Izospan, positive characteristics are shown when the slope of the beams is not more than 40 degrees. The price of a roll is 35 sq.m. 766 rub.

It is presented in the form of a two-layer vapor barrier sheet, used exclusively inside buildings and structures. A brand of this density is able to effectively protect the attic or attic, and is also in demand for the roof, all kinds of basement levels, walls and in the form of an additional insulating layer. Layers have a high density. The price of a roll is 70 sq.m. 1087 rub.

The scope of this non-woven fabric is non-insulated roofs, it is a two-layer membrane. The characteristics of the layers are vapor and waterproofing. Can be used in attics. 1649 rub. 70 sq.m.

The technical characteristics of the material are very versatile, it can be used in different areas. Suitable not only for hydro-, but also vapor barrier of floors between floors, concrete bases, roofs that are not insulated, for finishing foundations. 35 sq.m. costs 535 rubles.

Unlike Izospan A, the technical characteristics are higher, since the membrane film of the special material is high-strength. The structure contains materials that increase protection against all kinds of mechanical damage. Laying is carried out directly on top of the heat insulator, which helps to protect against weathering and condensate droplets. The price of a roll is 70 sq.m. 2323 rub.

Endowed with special features. One of the layers is kraft paper, which on the one hand is metallized with a material such as lavsan. This ensures both steam and waterproofing Izospan. For such qualities, the structure is in demand for flooring on pitched roofs. It is also used to create thermoconstant wet conditions for baths and saunas. Although such a texture has a rather high price tag compared to analogues, it can be absolutely indispensable for certain purposes.

Non-woven fabric is made from kraft paper, followed by coating with metallized lavsan. Due to this treatment, the material withstands temperatures in the range of -60° ... + 120°C and is used for heat and vapor barrier of walls, floors and ceilings in steam rooms, baths, saunas, hamams and other similar rooms. 1056 rub. costs 35 sq.m. films.

This variety is made from a polypropylene film and a metallized layer of lavsan is also applied. In the FD variation, vapor barrier film D is used as the base, and in FS - B. And although the strength of the canvas is beyond doubt, it is recommended to use it for vapor barrier of structural elements from the inside, including for steam rooms, attic and attic floors, as well as heat-reflecting screen in pairs. 1987 rub. roll 70 sq.m.

Foamed polyethylene covered with a metallized layer acts as the base layer. Due to the abundance of air bubbles, isospan is used as sound insulation, as well as a heat-reflecting screen, for which lavsan is responsible. Compared to other options, this canvas has the most advantages, but due to the fact that it is based on foamed polyethylene, the maximum operating temperature does not exceed 90 °. It can not be used for finishing walls, floors and ceilings in rooms with elevated temperatures.

It is much more effective to use FX as an underlay for underfloor heating, for wall cladding behind radiators to reflect heat, and as insulation in residential areas in combination with finishing materials.

FX has a zero vapor permeability threshold, so it is not allowed to be used in this segment. Cloth 2 mm thick with an area of 36 sq.m. will cost 1566 rubles.

Installation instructions

In the process, some preparation will be required. You will need to stock up on a set of tools and materials. You will need wooden slats, and self-tapping screws to them. Cutting of blanks is carried out with well-sharpened scissors. The joints are hidden with adhesive tape, and a construction stapler is used for fixing.

The metal profile is involved in the calculations. The required area is calculated taking into account the overlap on both sides. Usually 15-17 cm are allotted for this.

The material "Izospan A" is not intended for use as the main roofing

Apply Izospan of the required brand according to a specific algorithm based on important rules:

  • All fasteners are recommended to be carried out exclusively from the side of the room. It is possible to work with sheets at a temperature not lower than -25 °C. It is allowed to roll out the protection both from the outside and from the inside. If you need to work with the roof, then only the inner layer of the “pie” is in demand.

  • The vapor barrier is fixed with a construction stapler along the perimeter of the walls. Subsequent sheets are superimposed on the previous ones by 150 mm, while the seam is glued with adhesive tape. Material tension is not allowed, slight sagging is provided. The finishing operation can be the final attraction of the sheets with wooden slats to the walls, roof or rafters.
  • For the laid rails, you should choose a step from the interval of 30-50 cm. After punching them over the entire area, you can mount the selected Izospan on top. The formed ventilating pocket provides fast evaporation of excess moisture.
  • Vapor barrier sheets can be mounted on a specially designed frame on the walls of the room. For the base, metal / wooden slats are used, fixed on the walls with self-tapping screws. All joints must be sealed with tape.
  • The ventilated insulated facade is treated twice with similar protection. The first crust is placed behind a layer of insulation, the second crust is placed in front of the insulation. Accordingly, a three-level thermal and vapor barrier system with a high degree of efficiency is formed.

It must be taken into account that for reinforced concrete structures, the use of vapor barrier is mandatory both for walls and for floors / ceilings.

Features of using a popular brand

Due to its individual properties, each material is in demand in various operating conditions. You should rely on their physical characteristics in order to choose the right coating.

A feature of the material with the mark "A" is high tensile strength. Its outer side has a smooth structure that is not able to absorb or pass water. The inner surface is with a rough anti-condensate texture. On it, drops are easily held and then evaporate into space.

The main objective of the material is the high-quality protection of the insulation and the entire structure from the ingress of condensate from the outside. Grade A is based on modern polymeric structures.

The main advantages over analogues are:

  • excellent mechanical strength;
  • high degree of environmental friendliness, since no harmful substances are released into the atmosphere;
  • for a long period does not lose its high characteristics;
  • resistant to chemicals, neutral to bacteria.

Due to its resistance to ultraviolet radiation, it is actively used in the processing of roofs, attics, plinths. Density is reached 110 g/cm3. Usually sold in fifty-meter rolls, whose width is 140 cm.

It should be borne in mind that grade "A" is usually laid as the main material, in contrast to "C" or "D", which are recommended by the manufacturer for use in temporary protective structures.

For ventilated facades of a multi-storey building, Izospan A is placed on top of the insulation so that the smooth side remains outside, and a ventilated gap is provided inside. It is necessary to ensure maximum adhesion to the insulation and did not have unfixed areas. Otherwise, acoustic pops will form due to increased wind loads. Cloths should provide drainage of excess moisture.

VIDEO: Installation example

Every modern building cannot exist without a heat-insulating layer. However, this layer itself requires protection. Vapor barrier materials come to the rescue, for example, Isospan A.

Initially, we determine whether vapor barrier is important for walls and roofs? Undoubtedly. It will allow you to save the insulation of the roof, walls. Waterproofing is used on floors and partitions that are exposed to all kinds of climatic changes.

There are the following types of vapor barrier materials:

  • Standard film. It helps to protect against condensate, which may appear on the inner surface of the walls, roof, insulation.
  • Membrane film coating. These materials remove excess moisture and fumes from the premises. In addition, there is its subspecies, which has the property of variable vapor permeability, which increases in proportion to humidity.
  • Foil coated with aluminum. Performs the functions of steam and heat insulation due to the reflective property.
  • roofing membrane. Resistant to temperature extremes and UV radiation. Differs in high indicators of durability.

Izospan A and "with what it is eaten"

Izospan is an innovative building material that performs well in the construction of many modern buildings. Excellent protection of insulation and structures from climatic influences - these are the main qualities that provide Izospan with credibility in the construction business.

The technical features of Izospan A vapor barrier include:

  • material strength;
  • Elasticity;
  • environmental safety;
  • High protection against mechanical influences.

Isospan is divided into four types: A, B, C, D. This article focuses on the first variation of this product.

Films of group A are used to protect the outside of the premises.

The letter "A" on the material indicates that we have an ordinary film of this group, without any modifications. Technical characteristics of Izospan AM and AS differ in that they are made of three layers, which allows you to increase the level of protection of buildings. In addition, fire-resistant films are also present in this group of materials.

Izospan A with OZD (with flame retardant additives) is a waterproofing film that not only protects against the effects of air masses, but also from accidental fires (during welding, with careless handling of fire).

Izospan A is used as a kind of membrane, which is caused by the waterproofing properties of the material. This film protects the roof, facades and walls of premises of any type. Due to its wind and moisture protective function, this film will help keep the insulation in excellent condition for a long time. The film itself has been on the market for about 12 years, and has many positive reviews.

The use of Izospan is possible at all stages of construction. It will perfectly protect the roof, which is constantly exposed to warm and cold air masses.

Izospan A - technical specifications

Despite the fact that Izospan is divided into several categories, the latter are also divided into several modifications. For example, the following is the difference between individual variations of Isospan A: Isospan A (density 110 g / m²), Isospan AM (density 90 g / m²), Isospan AS (density 115 g / m²), Isospan AQ proff (density 120 g / m²).

Vapor barrier Izospan A, the technical characteristics of which are indicated by the manufacturer:

  • Tensile strength of the material: 190/140 millimeters;
  • Stability when exposed to ultraviolet radiation: 3-4 months;
  • Water resistance: 300 millimeters;
  • Vapor permeability: not less than 2000.

Instructions for use Izospan A

Instructions for the use of this material begin with the question of many builders: “Which side to the insulation should Izospan A be laid?”.

Vapor barrier Izospan A is mounted on the outside of the insulation.

Before starting work on the processing of walls and roofs with film, you need to make sure that the following tools are prepared:

  • metal profile and wooden slats;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • to fix individual sections, a construction stapler and adhesive tape may be required;
  • scissors for cutting the coating;
  • the required amount of vapor barrier, calculated as the sum of the area of the surface to be covered and overlaps of 15 cm on each side;

When installing the Isospan A vapor barrier on an insulated roof, the material is cut into wide strips and overlapped. The smooth surface of the vapor barrier must remain outside. Installation of Izospan A should begin from the bottom of the roof. Izospan must not be allowed to come into contact with the insulation, as this can significantly reduce the waterproofing properties of the material.

Pay attention to whether swelling occurs during installation. This can create noise during strong gusts of wind.

Izospan A is fastened with slats using self-tapping screws. Leave 5 centimeters of free space between the sides of the insulator.

If you use Izospan A to create a wind and hydro barrier, then we would recommend that you supplement the protection with a vapor barrier. Izospan B is perfect for this. Izospan B has two layers and is used to preserve surfaces:

  • Inclined roof;
  • Internal walls;
  • frame walls;
  • Attic, basement ceilings.

Installation diagram depending on the purpose:

  • Non-insulated and sloping roofs: the main structure is a vapor barrier layer - wooden flooring;
  • Attic: ceiling - vapor barrier - insulation - slats - beam;
  • Concrete floor: base - screed - insulating film - finishing layer.

It is worth noting that it is necessary to strictly observe all the subtleties of the operation of this material, so as not to be disappointed after. Take into account what exactly you are isolating: insulation of walls, roofs, or whether it is wagon or panel cladding. These aspects can create certain subtleties during installation.

Positive and negative aspects of Izospan vapor barrier

Like everything in this world, Izospan vapor barrier has not only positive aspects, but also negative ones. Let's start, as usual, with the good. The advantages of Isospan waterproofing include:

  • This is a high strength material;
  • The service life exceeds the mark of 50 years;
  • Resistance to climatic influences of various kinds: evaporation, wind, precipitation;
  • Safety and environmental friendliness;
  • The use of Izospan A does not cause unnecessary difficulties during installation.

As for the negative qualities, this only includes the fact that the material is flammable. However, we have already mentioned Isospan A with OZD, which eliminates this problem.

How important is vapor barrier for walls and roofs?

Vapor barrier is a necessary thing for any buildings, which we tried to talk about at the beginning of the material. The Izospan A membrane is an easy and inexpensive solution to this issue, which will ensure the safety of your walls, roofing, and insulation. Many underestimate waterproofing, and this despite the fact that it significantly warms the room. In addition, they protect the insulation, which will avoid unnecessary costs for sudden repairs.

Izospan A and whose characteristics are universal, suitable in any situations related to vapor barrier. A wide range of modifications will allow you to purchase a film according to the requirements that arise during the repair work.
