Note! Installation of pillars is a responsible process in the manufacture of gates. Using a plumb or level, check the perpendicularity of the installation. Do this before pouring the solution. Incorrect installation will require redoing the work due to the distortion of the structure.
The wicket frame must be made of a profile or a corner. In order not to violate the configuration, measurements should be carefully taken. Docking of sheets on the plane is carried out by a continuous welding seam. Then clean up the seam. Treat the product with an anti-corrosion liquid, and then paint it. Hang the hinges, install the lock. If you want to decorate the gate with forged elements, then do it before painting the gate, but after the installation of the structure.
Arrangement of a wooden gate
In the production of wooden gates, the choice of material is of paramount importance. You should choose lumber from softwood or hardwood. It is worth noting that larch is the most durable wood material, so if you are concerned about the life of the product, then choose this particular species. It is better to buy ready-made dried lumber, which was previously planed on a thicknessing machine. In addition, it is important that the thickness of the wooden blanks is the same.
Of the tools, you will definitely need a carpentry tool kit, as well as a level, a screwdriver, a square and a pencil with a brush and a rope. Then you should determine the design of the future gate. - Then we cut off with a grinder two pieces of a profile pipe of the desired width. They will go to the top and bottom of the future design. You will need another piece of pipe, equal to ninety centimeters. We weld it in the middle.
- Then we cut off with a grinder two more pieces of pipe, equal to one meter forty-two centimeters. They will go to the side of the structure.
- Let's start the welding process. We put the profile pipe on a flat surface and weld it together using electric welding (photo below).
After we welded all the details, we got a rectangle with a crossbar in the middle measuring ninety-eight by one and a half meters.
The next step is to weld the hinges to the resulting frame. Loops are easier to buy, the price for them is not high, and this will facilitate the work, which is important.
We will be using garage hinges for the gate. Mounting:
- separate them into two halves;
- the part with the pin will be welded to the metal gate;
- the second to the fence post;
Note! Do not confuse, hinges without a pin are welded onto the gate.
- during welding, we make sure that the hinges are flush with the profile pipe and strictly parallel to the gate;
- we beat off the slag with a hammer from welding to a clean seam;
- we clean the welds with a grinding disc with a grinder;
- paint the gate with anti-corrosion primer.
Now we begin to install our gate in the fence opening.
- First you need to weld the second parts of the loops to the post, making sure that they are located at the same distance as on the gate itself.
- We connect the loops together and align the gate in the opening.

Then the surface treatment is carried out: remove traces of rust with anti-corrosion liquid and Bulgarian. When everything dries, a white coating will appear, which should also be removed with a rag.
To fill the holes you will need a liquid solution. To prepare it, you need cement mix with sand in a ratio of approximately 1:3. You should get a homogeneous mixture. A little water is added to it, and the mass is brought to a liquid state.
The next step is to install the poles. Crushed stone or any stones should be poured into the drilled holes - everything should be tamped. Then the supports are poured, but be careful about their placement. The perpendicularity of the installation should be checked with a plumb line.
Creating a wicket frame with your own hands
For the manufacture of the frame, as a rule, a metal corner is used. It gives the product durability and strength. Before proceeding to the construction of the door in the fence, you need to decide in advance on its size. By the way, the bottom of the gate should be slightly higher than its pillars how it looks like you can see the photo.
The frame will be based on several metal profiles, one of which will be additional. The length of the last product should be similar to the width of the metal. This profile will create additional rigidity, as it will be placed in the center. This frame will last for many years.

The latch can be a metal plate. It will extend beyond the gate, thereby holding the entire structure. Some people also use a chain or a hook as a latch, but it’s better to look at the photo, which looks prettier.
