Which is better: shower or bath. Subtleties of choice. What is better - a shower cabin or a shower corner: a comparative analysis of these options What is better than a shower or a bath

Just a few years ago, apartment owners would not even have thought of the question: what plumbing to choose - a bath, a shower, or maybe get a corner. Cast iron bathtubs with legs were considered a symbol of comfort, and it was possible to take a shower using a hose. True, times have changed, and in plumbing stores you can find hundreds of different models for every taste and budget - with massage functions, wellness treatments, fountains and other delights. The choice becomes more and more difficult.

The bath is a practical classic with a long service life that suits absolutely any family. She has several advantages:

  • Durable materials - steel, cast iron, acrylic;
  • Easy installation - fixing the bath is extremely easy;
  • Low prices - especially compared to shower cabins;
  • It is convenient to bathe the child;
  • You can wash delicate items by hand;
  • Gives you the opportunity to relax and soak up after a hard day's work.

However, turning to the repair of the bathroom, each owner must understand that the disadvantages of baths also exist:

  • Plumbing takes up a lot of space - not suitable for small rooms;
  • The choice of models is very limited, especially in form;
  • Large water consumption;
  • If you bathe carelessly, splashes and puddles of water will be all over the room;
  • On the surface of many models of baths, scratches quickly appear, and the original shine is lost.

Older people prefer this option, so if you want to buy a bath for your parents' apartment, the gift will be appreciated.

Pros and cons of showers

Each version of plumbing equipment has its advantages and disadvantages, and in order to answer the question - which is better, you need to understand the needs of the residents of the house. The shower cabin has a lot of advantages:

  • Save time - you can take a shower in a few minutes, unlike a bath;
  • Saving water - of course, provided that you used to take a full bath, and now take a short shower;
  • Space saving - for a small apartment with a tiny bathroom, this solution is the best, since the cabin takes up 2 times less space, although there are non-standard models of impressive size;
  • Taking a shower is safer, including for medical reasons, with heart disease, high blood pressure, pregnancy;
  • The abundance of offers on the market - finding a decent option is not difficult;
  • A lot of built-in functions - for example, massage, radio, MP3, Turkish bath, aromatherapy, jacuzzi, unusual lighting.

Video 1. Tips for choosing a shower cabin

It would seem that a shower cabin is the dream of a modern person, and it is a must to buy it if you are updating plumbing. But do not rush, there are also disadvantages:

  • High cost - especially for models with a large number of functions;
  • Difficult installation - it is required to equip waterproofing, connect electricity, align the walls;
  • Often a slippery floor is also a disadvantage - you can’t do without a rug;
  • Many device functions will not work if the water quality is low and the pressure is minimal;
  • If you choose a model with high sides, it will be difficult for an elderly person to enter here.

A shower cabin is a worthy option for young and active people who want to perform hygiene procedures very quickly before leaving for work.

Arguments in favor of a shower enclosure

A shower corner is, in fact, the same cabin, only consisting of two walls, its advantages are similar, only the purchase is much cheaper, because materials and labor costs are saved. It will be possible to organize it at any stage of construction, it is in demand not only in apartments, but also in commercial enterprises - in hotels, fitness centers.

Finding out which is better: a corner, a bath or a shower, you should focus on personal preferences. For those who cannot decide and have a good budget, combined plumbing equipment is recommended - a 2 in 1 bath-shower. You can buy such a device only if the area of \u200b\u200bthe bathroom allows - you will need a lot of space.

When decorating their bathroom, many people face a choice: a shower or a bath? Now we will try to find out the positive and negative aspects of both solutions.

Shower or bath?

The first step is to understand what you yourself are used to, and what kind of pastime is more enjoyable for you. The bath has a relaxing effect and allows you to relax after a hard day's work. The shower will help you wake up and give you energy for the whole day.

Let's look at the bath and shower as a means of cleansing. A stay in the bath allows you to gently open the skin pores and thus cleanse them. It should be remembered that it is better to use different types of soap for the bathroom, rather than shower gels, since the latter create a special film on the skin that can only be washed off under a strong stream. In this regard, the shower provides the function of hydromassage and deeper cleansing.

We must not forget about the medical aspect. Doctors advise people with vascular and vein problems (hypotension, hypertension, varicose veins) to refrain from bathing. You will also have to carefully select the temperature and time spent in the water for people with problem skin, since too hot water can harm sensitive skin. The shower has practically no contraindications, except for one of its varieties - a contrast shower. Again, such a shower should not be taken by people with problem vessels, since a sharp change in water temperature is not beneficial in such cases. And, of course, if you have a runny nose or a cold, it's best not to experiment with cold water.

What is more economical?

In terms of economy, the clear winner is the shower. Since showers take up less space per se than a bathtub, they are best suited for bathrooms with small footage, which saves usable space.

The shower also wins in terms of the amount of water consumed. On average, taking water procedures in the shower will require 1.5–2 times less water than in the bathroom. This is due to the fact that in the shower, dirt is immediately washed off the skin with new streams of water, while lying in the bathroom, you will have to rinse several more times.

But lying in the bath, you can relax and forget about the problems of a hard day, steam out your skin. Therefore, if the area of \u200b\u200bthe bathroom allows, then you should not deny yourself this pleasure.

You need to understand in what particular style you want to equip your bathroom. For modern and aggressive styles such as high-tech and minimalism, a shower cabin is an absolute choice. It will require cabins made of transparent glass with metal inserts.

If you stick to a more classic interior, for example, in the Provence style, then you can’t do without a beautiful white bath and walls decorated with pastel-colored tiles.

The shape of the bathroom can be different, as well as the material from which it is made: from iron to hardwood. Many design solutions look very stylish, but again, they are suitable for large rooms.

The editors of the site advise you to make a choice in favor of what you need, because the bathroom is a very personal space and a place for privacy.

To date, there are no problems with the purchase of sanitary ware - the range of products is very wide, it remains only to choose a model based on the shape and material. Of course, the manufacturer will also play a role. It is better to give preference to well-known brands that have already gained a good reputation in the plumbing market. For example, if you need a high-quality, reliable acrylic bath, look at the range of models on this site. KOLO is one of the best manufacturers of sanitary ware and bathroom furniture in Europe. Stylish ideas, modern design, the best materials - this is what is typical for the plumbing of this company. Moreover, such well-known companies have different product lines - both inexpensive and elite.

Bathtub or shower stall?

Each of us is faced with the question: how best to arrange plumbing in the bathroom? It will be much easier for owners of spacious bathrooms, who can easily install any type of plumbing, can spend less time on the layout of all interior items. And if it comes to small rooms, then you still have to think about how to arrange everything. Shower cabins are one of the options for saving space in such an interior. Although we do not recommend installing narrow showers that will not be comfortable when bathing. You may feel discomfort, and this is definitely not what you need to relax.

Let's see what are the pros and cons of these two plumbing options.

1. Baths:

  • take up a lot of space;
  • during bathing, about 200 liters of water are consumed;
  • versatility: the ability to use for bathing, and for taking a shower, and for washing;
  • can be equipped with a small number of additional functions;
  • suitable for bathing small children;
  • more opportunities to relax and unwind while swimming;
  • product care - simple;

2. Shower cabins:

  • well suited for installation in small bathrooms;
  • less water consumption;
  • not multifunctional;
  • can be equipped with a large number of additional functions;
  • not suitable for bathing small children;
  • fewer opportunities to rest and relax while swimming;
  • product care is more complex.

Thus, you can conclude which of the plumbing items is best suited specifically for your interior. Often in spacious bathrooms you can see both an acrylic bathtub and a shower cabin. This is very convenient, because sometimes you just want to rinse after a hard day's work, and sometimes you want to swim longer, lie down and relax.

What material to choose a bath?

  • Acrylic

At the peak of popularity now acrylic baths. Why? With many benefits. Indeed, if you now come to a hardware store, then your eyes simply run up from the number of various models. In addition, acrylic is durable, reliable, lightweight, and products made from it are quickly assembled and easily transported.

How to choose a reliable model? Keep in mind: the price is not always an indicator of high quality, so you need to pay attention to a number of nuances. When choosing an acrylic model, first of all, look at how many layers the product is made of. You can count the number of layers by looking at the edge of the rim. The best option is if the bath consists of pure PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) and a reinforced base, that is, of 2 layers. Such a product can last about 12 years.

There are also three-layer products, which include ABS - one of the types of elastic plastic. What's more, ABS is the core of the whole product. But it should be taken into account that ABS has a porous hygroscopic structure, therefore, in operation, three-layer baths using ABS are not the best option, they will not last long, about 5 years due to the rapid wear of materials.

  • Kvaril

There is even more advanced material - it is kvaril. Bathtubs from it are more expensive - somewhere 3-3.5 times more expensive than acrylic products. But kvaril is more dense, and bathing will be more comfortable, it will last longer, it is easy to clean.

  • Steel

We must not forget about steel models, which are almost in no way inferior to acrylic ones. Among the advantages of steel products are their low price (comparable to acrylic), the presence of a wear-resistant coating, as well as low weight and ease of cleaning. Such products also have disadvantages - when pouring water, noise is heard, and they also do not keep heat so well.

When choosing the shape of the bath, do not forget that it must be combined with the shape of the recessed sink. For example, a rounded sink will work well with an oval, asymmetric, corner bath, and a rectangular or square sink with a rectangular bathtub.

When repairing plumbing units, apartment owners often have doubts when choosing plumbing. A comfortable bath or shower, which is best for you?

To resolve this issue, we suggest that you consider popular plumbing options, compare their features and specifications, which we did in this article. We also analyzed in detail the advantages and disadvantages of each of the options considered and provided recommendations for choosing the best type of plumbing.

Bathtubs are a traditional type of plumbing, which have been widespread since ancient times.

Today, convenient volumetric bathing tanks have not lost popularity, they are installed in new buildings, and mounted after renovation. Moreover, if desired, you can install and.

The wide distribution of baths over the centuries has contributed to their many advantages.

The bath is a multifunctional device: you can not only wash or bathe a child in it, but also soak / rinse clothes, wash large dishes, leave a bouquet of flowers overnight or cool a watermelon

The advantages of such products are obvious:

  1. The bath can be filled with water with essential oils, sea or aromatic salt, or whipped into a thick foam. Many (and not without reason) consider this procedure the best way to relax after a busy day.
  2. Soaking in a hot bath, in which you can add healing herbs, is an excellent remedy for a cold. A similar method with the addition of special substances (milk, honey, oatmeal) is considered an excellent cosmetic procedure that allows you to take care of the skin of the body.
  3. In the bath, all impurities are washed off faster and more thoroughly, as well as sweat after a workout.
  4. The container is perfect for bathing children, and for babies it can even be used as a pool.
  5. If necessary, large-format items, such as a bedspread or tablecloth, can be washed in this plumbing.
  6. In the bath, it is convenient to wash not only people, but also pets, such as dogs.
  7. The presence of a special nozzle in many mixers allows you to use the bath as a shower.

The device is also easy to install with a water supply system, requiring a minimum of skills and moderate costs.

Modern models of bathtubs can be of different colors and shapes, as well as have additional features, such as lighting, hydromassage

Among the main disadvantages can be mentioned:

  1. Rather large dimensions, which is why the bath takes up a significant part of the bathroom.
  2. Many times greater than for a shower, water consumption (200 liters versus 40-50 liters in a shower). In addition, washing consumes more electricity due to the duration of the procedure.
  3. It is not recommended for a number of diseases, for example, hypertension, varicose veins, a tendency to dizziness, skin problems.
  4. A wet, smooth surface poses a risk of injury.
  5. Slow filling. It is impossible to take a bath right away, you have to wait for some time until the water fills the container.

Baths for the elderly are especially difficult: it is difficult for them to enter and exit the font, in addition, a sudden change in body position can cause dizziness and even fainting. Therefore, it is necessary to take a closer look at special models developed for such users -. They are shorter and taller than usual.

To date, the market is dominated by three types of bathtubs (cast iron, acrylic, steel), each of which has its own characteristics.

Option #1 - Cast Iron Bathtubs

The most solid are cast iron baths, which have the following advantages:

  1. Durability. With careful treatment of enamel, a cast-iron product will last for several decades (usually the warranty period is 25 years).
  2. Due to the high heat capacity, they keep heat for a long time.
  3. Resistant to deformation.
  4. Easy to clean: no pores on the surface, which makes it easy to wash off dirt.
  5. Due to the soundproofing properties of cast iron, such plumbing practically does not make noise when water is drawn in.

But such plumbing is not without its drawbacks. Let's consider them in more detail.

Among the disadvantages of such plumbing fixtures can be noted:

  • heavy weight (on average about 120 kilograms), which makes it difficult to transport and;
  • relatively high cost (prices are influenced by manufacturers);
  • with serious damage to the enamel, it is extremely difficult to restore it at home.

The disadvantages include a small selection of models, among which classic rectangular products predominate.

Option #2 - Steel Plumbing

These products also have their pros and cons.

The coating of any type of bath eventually becomes unusable. It is recommended to periodically update it or change it entirely by calling specialists

The positive qualities include:

  • light weight: steel baths weigh 4-5 times less than cast-iron counterparts, which simplifies their transportation and;
  • a wide selection of models, in the assortment there is plumbing of different sizes and shapes;
  • sufficient durability: the service life of high-quality models is approximately 15 years.

Another advantage, many buyers consider the moderate cost of models.

Weaknesses include:

  • slight deformation leading to damage to the enamel coating;
  • significant noise level when pouring water;
  • high thermal conductivity, due to which the water in steel baths cools quickly.

It should be noted that the disadvantages are primarily characteristic of budget options with thin walls, while models made of thick metal are close to cast iron in their qualities.

Option #3 - Acrylic Sanitary Ware

Due to the advantages, acrylic containers have become the most popular among users.

Bathtubs can have not only traditionally rectangular, but also a different shape: oval, triangular, asymmetric. Particularly pleased with the variety of configurations for models made of acrylic

In many respects, such plumbing is ahead of similar positions made of metals:

  1. The thermal conductivity of acrylic baths is even lower than that of cast iron baths: they are able to retain heat for a long time.
  2. The most silent type of product compared to other types.
  3. Damage (if they are not too serious) easily give in.
  4. They have a non-slip surface to help prevent injury.
  5. Easy to wash.
  6. They are light in weight.

In addition, acrylic tanks are presented in a wide range of models, they are often combined with additional options, such as a jacuzzi.

The disadvantages are:

  • Sufficient fragility in comparison with cast-iron counterparts; acrylic plumbing is not adapted to significant mechanical stress.
  • The surface of such bathtubs is easily scratched, due to which an attractive gloss is lost over time.
  • Inexpensive plumbing can stain if washed in a container with shedding clothes.

It is worth adding that high-quality acrylic products from well-known companies are quite expensive.

Characteristics of shower cabins

Such plumbing fixtures appeared much later than bathtubs. Currently, shower cabins are widespread, especially in small apartments.

Types of showers

There are several classification options. According to the design features, open and closed cabins are distinguished. The former have a democratic value, but only partially enclose the structure.

Open showers have a lightweight design without a ceiling, which is why the number of additional functions in them is minimized.

Closed models have not only walls, but also a roof, which allows you to create airtight spaces. Thanks to this, the sauna effect, as well as other functions, can be applied in the booth.

The considered plumbing fixtures also differ in the materials from which important elements are made - pallets:

  • cast iron they are distinguished by increased strength, however, they are heavy and heat up for a long time;
  • ceramic quite fragile, require careful handling: dropping a heavy object can break the pallet;
  • steel the most noisy
  • acrylic They look great and heat up quickly, but lose their appearance easily due to scratches on the surface.

By depth, pallets can be: flat (0-35 mm), shallow (100-180) or deep (180-450 mm).

Products may have different parameters. Common options are the dimensions of 90x90, 100x100, 120x80 cm, however, designs of other sizes can be found.

Some modern models of shower cabins are almost equal in size to bathtubs. Often they have an original design and serve as interior decoration.

It is advisable to choose models whose length and width exceeds 0.8 by 0.8 m - with smaller parameters, it is uncomfortable to use shower cabins.

When choosing a booth, it is important to take into account both the area of \u200b\u200bthe room and the size of the body: it should be convenient for the bather to use the shower unit. We have given other criteria that affect the choice of a suitable booth.

Pros and cons of shower designs

Fans of such sanitary products call the following advantages:

  • The area of such sanitary products is less than a traditional bath, which saves space. Such installations will find a place even in the most compact plumbing units.
  • These devices are safe. Pallets are made of non-slip material, which reduces the likelihood of injury.
  • Modern models often have many additional features. It can be a telephone, radio, hydromassage, sauna mode. Some options allow for medical procedures: inhalation, aromatherapy.
  • Some models of shower cabins are provided with benches or seats, which makes it easier for elderly people or people with disabilities to wash.
  • Thanks to a wide range, which includes options with different dimensions, design, cost, a set of additional functions, you can always choose a shower cabin that meets the needs and possibilities of the buyer.
  • Such a device is considered more hygienic than a bath, since germs are washed away with a water stream, while in the latter these organisms remain in a container of water.
  • The shower can be used at any time, you just need to turn the tap.
  • It is better to rinse your hair under running water: in this case, you can carefully remove all residues of shampoo and other detergent.

As you can see, the list of advantages of such plumbing products looks quite impressive.

At the same time, it is impossible not to mention the disadvantages of these devices:

  • High-quality models with a tight door are usually quite voluminous. Often in terms of area, they are quite a bit inferior to bathtubs and are not suitable for installation in a small room.
  • Most of the additional functions (such as tropical rain or hydromassage) can only be used with a certain water pressure. If it does not reach 1.5 bar in the house or on the floor, then the options will not be available.
  • Under the shower, the muscles remain tense: it is better to relax after a workout in the bathroom.
  • As a result of dried spray, a white coating appears on the doors and walls.
  • Shower cabins require more complex maintenance than bathtubs, since there are numerous metal parts of complex configuration.
  • The average cost of a cabin is higher than a bath.
  • Installation of such plumbing requires certain skills. As a result of poor quality work, the structure may leak.
  • In the shower there is no opportunity to lie down and relax.
  • Such products are difficult to use for bathing children (this can be done in cabins with a deep cast iron pan) or pets.

At the same time, the quality of modern shower cabins is quite high, which makes it possible to mitigate many of the disadvantages of such plumbing.

Additional functions of shower cabins

The popularity of this type of sanitary ware is influenced by the equipment with additional functions that allow you to turn an ordinary shower into a tempting procedure.

The most common options include cold and hot shower. The alternating supply of hot and ice water has an extremely beneficial effect on the body, hardening it and toning the skin.

One of the most popular additional options for showers is vertical hydromassage. The soft touch of streams of water mixed with air bubbles allows you to quickly cheer up, relieve fatigue and stress.

"Turkish sauna". In this case, the cabin is equipped with a steam generator, with the help of which it is possible to create a high temperature (45-60 o) and 100% humidity in the space. Air saturated with hot steam improves blood circulation and immunity; Under its influence, the pores expand, from which toxins are removed along with sweat.

rain shower. A special nozzle, located on the ceiling of the cabin, breaks the water stream into a whirlwind of small gentle sprays, imitating summer rain. A similar procedure, which helps to relax the body, is recommended before bedtime.

aromatherapy. In models with this function, a special container for aromatic substances is built into the rear wall of the cabin. When the steam generator is turned on, heated water vapor passes through the tank and fills the space with fragrant steam. About the choice and installation of a steam generator.

Owners of small bathrooms should pay attention to the corner models of shower cabins, which occupy the minimum area of the room.

Ventilation. Function to ventilate cabins. In versions equipped with options "rain shower", "Turkish bath", it allows you to evenly distribute steam inside the cabin.

Vertical hydromassage. The devices are equipped with rotary built-in nozzles, from which jets of water are ejected. Directing them manually in different directions, you can arrange hydromassage of the legs, back or collar area.

Top/multi-color backlight. Ceiling-mounted lights illuminate the cab with an even, soft light.

The presence of multi-colored LEDs, as well as several options for modes, allows you to combine the washing procedure with the contemplation of visual effects that color the streams of water jets alternately in different colors. It also has a beneficial effect on the body, since the healing effect of chromotherapy, that is, light treatment, has been known for a long time.

Mirror. Some models have mirrors treated with a special anti-fogging agent. Such an accessory is especially convenient when carrying out cosmetic procedures (for example, masks) or shaving in the shower.

Shower cabins can be equipped not only with multi-colored lamps, but also with small ultraviolet lamps. They color the streams of water in an exquisite lilac color and destroy harmful organisms.

Shampoo dispenser. So that the bottles do not fall off the shelves and do not create problems, it is advisable to purchase a model with several dispensers attached to the inner wall (for shampoo, gel, balm). The latest modifications often have remote control using the remote control, as well as touch panels that respond to the touch of your hands.

The presence of additional functions is directly proportional to the cost of the booth, so when choosing a model, the buyer should consider how important this or that option is for him in order not to overpay.

Features of the hydromassage box

There is also an alternative option that involves combining a bathtub with a shower. This device is primarily recommended to consider if some members of the family like to relax in the bathroom, while others do not want to spend a lot of time on water procedures, preferring to rinse in the shower.

A hydromassage box is a modern and convenient type of sanitary ware. Such models are produced by many well-known brands, so the choice of models is quite large.

A similar model can also be recommended for families with small children: it is perfect for a comfortable bathing for babies. Many additional options (hydromassage, steam sauna, tropical rain) turn this device into a real spa.

At the same time, it was not without its shortcomings, among which are:

  • solid dimensions, due to which the hydrobox is hardly suitable for a miniature bathroom;
  • high cost: prices for such products exceed the cost of a shower stall;
  • installation can only be carried out by highly qualified professionals;
  • certain requirements for water supply and sewerage.

In addition, hydroboxes tend to have high sides, which makes them not very suitable for the elderly or those with mobility problems.

You don’t like budget models, but a stylish cabin from a well-known brand is quite expensive? If desired, you can make your own.

What is the best choice for your bathroom?

If the family is not too disposed to bask in the bathroom, it is better to use a shower cabin, which allows not only to save space, but also significantly reduce water consumption.

Fans of an invigorating sauna should pay attention to special models of shower cabins that successfully imitate the temperature and humidity conditions of Turkish baths.

If there are elderly or chronically ill people in the family who find it difficult to use the bathroom, it is better to prefer a shower with seats. And for those who like to relax in the sauna, manufacturers offer a universal option - a shower room with a sauna. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with such models.

Families with small children, as well as pet owners, are advised to put a comfortable bath.

When choosing, it is better to give preference to products of reputable companies. In economical models, after several years of use, the doors often dry out, which reduces the tightness of the products.

Conclusions and useful video on the topic

In the presented video, you will hear the competent opinion of an interior designer about the advantages and disadvantages of the two main options for sanitary products designed for water procedures.

It is impossible to unequivocally determine which is better - a bath or a shower. When planning to update the bathroom, it is necessary to take into account the opinions of all family members, as well as a number of objective factors, for example, the area of the plumbing room.

A wide range of products presented in specialized stores will allow you to find a compromise, choosing a comfortable bathtub, a modern shower cabin or a luxurious hydrobox.

Are you unable to make a choice? Maybe you have questions that we have not covered in this article? Ask them in the comments block - site visitors and our experts will answer you.

When decorating their bathroom, many people face a choice: a shower or a bath? Now we will try to find out the positive and negative aspects of both solutions.

In each house and apartment, a magical room - a bathroom - is provided at the planning stage. Its direct purpose is to provide convenience during hygiene procedures. But everything would be very boring if people used the bathroom only for its intended purpose. For most of us, water procedures are recovery and relaxation, and our hygiene habits are built according to the idea of these matters.

Few of us are lucky enough to have a sauna or Jacuzzi on our property: most of us have two types of regulated water facilities available, these are a bath and a shower. There are as many adherents of both types of ablutions as there are of each separately: each gives a lot of arguments in favor of his habit. Is there any truth in this matter? Which is better - a bath or a shower?

When moving into a new home and starting to equip a bathroom, any family will be faced with a choice between a bathtub and a shower cabin. Well, if the footage allows you to put both. But often you have to choose based on the size of the room. In terms of ease of placement, a shower is more profitable - it saves space.

However, you see, it is impossible to decide what to buy without having an idea of the price of the issue. A shower cabin was not so long ago a luxury for most consumers: now it is offered by many specialized centers, competition from manufacturers is at the level, therefore, like a bath, a shower cabin (as well as heating units for them) can be selected according to your size and pocket. What is cheaper? Equally!
Will our acquisition pay off soon? With a water flow of 8 to 15 liters per minute, 100 liters of water are required for taking a shower, and twice as much for taking a bath. This is due to the fact that, standing in the shower, we dissolve the dirt from the skin and hair with hot water and instantly wash it off with streams from the watering can. The process is continuous, whereas bathing ends in dirty water and requires 2-3 rinses.

In terms of care, however, the shower cabin will not please the hostesses. Every time after taking a shower (especially if you don’t have very high-quality water in the tap), the walls of the cabin will be covered with plaque, which, in principle, can save us from having to hide behind a curtain, besides, shower cabin cleaning products are not yet sold everywhere. Some manufacturers recommend washing their products every time after taking a shower - that is, several times a day. In this sense, a bath is more convenient: even a child can clean it up (by the way, try bathing a child in the shower!), And the choice of means for caring for her is richer.

In terms of effects on the body, a shower and a bath occupy two opposite positions. A shower invigorates, a bath relaxes and soothes, but both of them can "give birth to us again." In order not to spoil the effect of rebirth from being in a bath, you need to know that a warm bath (36-38 degrees) can be taken for no more than 30 minutes, and a hot one (more than 38 degrees) - even less: 10-15. Minus for those who like to lie in the bath for hours. While in the shower we can enjoy until the water runs out.

From the point of view of cleansing, a bath is more useful because a long stay in hot water delicately and gently opens the pores, which is difficult to achieve under shower jets flowing around the body. The state of weightlessness, which gives the hydrostatic factor, frees from gravity, unloads the musculoskeletal system and promotes the outflow of blood from the veins in the legs. When bathing in the bath, it is recommended to use any convenient soap, as washing gels leave a film of mineral oils on the body, which will clog open pores and interfere with pore cleansing processes. Shower gels are more useful, since the dirt, which, as we have already found out above, flows off us during the entire procedure, will slip off the skin along this very film, without lingering anywhere. In the bath, however, it is impossible to achieve the hydromassage effect that the shower gives us.

Are there any medical contraindications for taking a bath or shower? It turns out there is. Doctors do not advise people with hypotension, hypertension and varicose veins to take a bath. Also, frequent baths are not recommended for those ladies who suffer from problematic skin - provided that healthy skin can relatively easily endure the hostess’s “blunder” in water temperature and bath duration, sensitive and problematic skin will respond to such rudeness with peeling, tightness, pimples and inflammation. Also, the bath is contraindicated for patients after surgery and for women during menstruation. The shower is shown to everyone, except for the contrast: for people with cardiovascular diseases, as well as for those who have a cold or runny nose, it is not recommended.

In matters “for the soul”, the bath wins. It is pleasant to bask in clouds of foam, and nourishing the skin with salts, oils and additives is much more convenient than in the shower. Lying in the bathroom, you can perform facial and hair treatments, which is also not possible in the shower. When bathing children, a bathtub is also an indispensable tool.

Well, the last, unexpected argument in favor of the bath is the percentage of injuries. According to sources on the net, the percentage of injuries from falling in the shower is 15% higher than from falling from sliding on the tiled bathroom floor. Well, injuries when falling in the bath are negligible: lying down is difficult to fall, you know.

And with such, practically, no margin, but the shower still pulls ahead. With the exception of injury and maintenance difficulties, showering is cheaper and healthier. But the bath is healthier, more hygienic and safer. The choice, however, is still ours and our habits.
Especially for those who do not find time to take a bath and prefer to wash in the shower, here are five reasons why you should still draw water into the bathroom at least once a week and soak in it:

  1. Cold prevention. A bath is indispensable if you or your child is often sick. It is especially useful to lie in a warm bath after walking outside in bad weather, when your feet are wet or very cold. The bath will help to warm up the whole body and thereby prevent the development of cold symptoms. After a bath, drink a glass of warm green tea with lemon or chamomile and you don't have to worry about a possible cold.

  2. Skin cleansing. With the help of a shower, no one will be able to cleanse the skin as effectively as a warm bath. In the bath, as in a bath, the pores open, and the skin is completely cleansed of the dirt accumulated in it. To remove dead skin cells, you can exfoliate with ground coffee or honey after the bath. The skin after this procedure will become even and smooth.

  3. Relaxation. In order not to get annoyed over trifles, you need to do a full course of massage twice a year, take a bath once a month or visit spa treatments. Naturally, not everyone can afford such pleasure. An alternative to all these procedures can be a regular bath. Type water at a temperature that is comfortable for you, add pine, sage, lavender or rosemary essential oil to it. Dim the lights, light the candles and indulge in a soothing relaxing bath.

  4. Cooldown and stretching of muscles. When you sit at a computer for a long time or do physical exercises, the muscles become very tense and stagnation begins in them. Therefore, at the end of any physical training or after a long sitting, it is necessary to do a hitch and stretch the muscles. It can be a short walk or simple exercise, but for this purpose, it is best to combine business with pleasure and take a warm bath with the addition of sea salt or herbal extract.

  5. Remedy for low blood pressure. Weather-sensitive people are sensitive to changes in the weather. They are often troubled by headaches and weakness if the sky is covered with clouds and rain is planned. The reason for this is low blood pressure. To improve your well-being in these cases is quite simple - take hot water into the bath and add coniferous decoction to it. Lie in the bath for 10-15 minutes and the resulting effect of the water treatment will surely surprise you.
