IKEA METOD kitchens are furniture that meets three main principles - versatility, mobility and practicality. This is a designer that allows you to independently assemble a kitchen set of any layout and functionality.

Kitchen "Hitarp"

On the official website you can find the modular parts of this system in the section "Cabinets and facades METHOD". Link to catalog 2019 - https://www.ikea.com/ru/ru/catalog/categories/departments/kitchen/24254/

Catalog section 2019 IKEA with modular kitchens METOD

A huge plus of the METOD system is the availability of a free online designer. Any buyer without special skills in such programs can assemble a kitchen by choosing the type of cabinet, frame, front panel, etc. on their own.

Planning can be done free of charge (subject to further purchase) with a store specialist if you suddenly have any difficulties.

Module dimensions

As part of this system, the company produces modules of several possible sizes:

  • width: 20, 40, 60, 80 cm;
  • frame height 80 or from 140 cm (pencil cases, sideboards and high cabinets for built-in appliances)
  • depth: 61-62 cm and 38-40 cm.

The standardization of IKEA furniture sizes is both an advantage and a disadvantage of the METOD system.

On the one hand, typical parameters allow you to assemble a headset yourself by selecting modules of the desired type and functionality.

On the other hand, the system does not take into account the design features of the premises.

Small kitchen with a U-shaped set METHOD (gray facades "Budbin")

Despite the shortcomings, the IKEA METOD system still remains one of the most popular among buyers. A wide range of sizes allows you to assemble a set that will suit most kitchens in apartments or private houses. This corresponds to the main principle - universality.

Kitchen IKEA METHOD "Ringult" (gloss) in the Khrushchev apartment

Another important principle - practicality, is expressed in the ability to quickly and easily replace the necessary elements - frame, plank, cornice, etc. This is convenient and practical in case of damage to individual parts or if you want to update the kitchen interior that has become boring over the years inexpensively and without any hassle.

A METOD kitchen can be composed of several functional and additional parts:

  • frames of floor and wall cabinets;
  • countertop;
  • plinths and legs;
  • overhead panels, planks, cornices.

A series of videos on how to assemble a METOD kitchen from IKEA with your own hands, see below:

  1. Assembly of frames (in 2 parts):

  1. Mounting the table top (part 3):
  1. Installation of cornices, plinths, panels (part 4):

  1. Installing a sink, siphon, faucet (part 5):

Facades METHOD: style and color of the future kitchen

Facades define the finished look of the kitchen. Here you can find doors for lower and upper cabinets, front panels for dishwashers, drawer fronts.

On the IKEA website, the dimensions corresponding to the frames are selected from the drop-down list in the product card.

Because Since IKEA has Swedish roots, it is not surprising that most of the options are exactly that. But some are also suitable for kitchens in the style of minimalism, Provence, neoclassic, modern, hi-tech and even loft.

Kitchens METOD with combined facades "Kallarp" and "Ersta"

The variation in prices is due to the composition of products. The most expensive, for example, the Lerhyuttan, Ekestad, Torkhemn series are made of solid wood and veneer.

We will consider the possible types and design of IKEA facades in more detail.

Framework

These will look great in a Norman-style kitchen, Provence, modern classics.

  • "Budbin". This series is one of the most popular IKEA kitchens. There are front panels for built-in appliances, framed doors - deaf and glass. They are distinguished by beautiful bindings, which are ideal for window dressing.

Such options are the ideal solution for a kitchen in the style of minimalism, hi-tech, Scandinavian, modern.

The minus of the Heggebi facades is that there is no front panel for the dishwasher. But the design allows you to install white appliances, which, in combination with such an IKEA headset, will look harmonious and holistic.

For IKEA, furniture in such a design is not typical. Therefore, in the minority and with limited possibilities for use in design - the Calvia and Garrestad series.

"Calvia" with an abstract ornament. Price - 4 600.
"Garrestad" with facets that create a play of light and shadow. Price - 7 700.

These panels can be used in combination with matt white facades to make the interior more interesting.

Rack

The grooved door surface of the Hitarp series is an ideal solution for a Scandinavian interior or a kitchen in country and Provence style.

"Hitarp". Price: 2 600 - 3 900.

Hitarp also has glass doors behind which you can put a beautiful tea set to create an atmosphere of rustic comfort.

You can also implement an art deco design.

glass

You can assemble a kitchen with glass showcases with the following facades (in ascending order of price): Edserum, Sevedal, Budbin, Hitarp, Yutis, Lerhyuttan, Torkhemn, Ekestad.

Budbin, interior in Provence style

In "Yutis" there are no fronts for floor and wall deaf cabinets. They can be combined with facades of other series, suitable in color - white or black (see photo below).

The METOD modular system allows you to assemble a two-color kitchen by decorating, for example,. Or making only the top of the kitchen glossy. Another idea is to paint the top row in white and the bottom row in grey, black or green.

Frameworks and examples of layouts

This is the basis or background of the future METOD kitchen.

The bottom row is represented by modules with a height of 80 cm or high cabinets from 140 cm. Let's look at examples of what options with real photos in the interior can be.

  • There are both linear and angular ones, which, respectively, allow you to form a kitchen with a linear, angular, U-shaped layout.

Corner kitchen METHOD "Budbin" in the interior
"Sevedal". Corner module - with a rotating section.
Linear kitchen "Budbin"
  • Cabinets with shelves, with one or 2 doors (including under the sink).
  • Modules with drawers (including under the sink). Retractable mechanism - Maximer (more expensive) or Forvar (cheaper).
  • Modules 80 cm for built-in appliances: hob, oven, dishwasher.
  • Tall storage cabinet with shelves, drawers behind the door 208 cm high.

  • High cabinet for built-in appliances: ovens, microwave.

The top row of METOD kitchens is represented by cabinets 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 cm high. There are also corner modules for the appropriate kitchen layout.

Wall units can be equipped with shelves, drawers or both. Doors can be deaf, glass or open.

"Ringult" glossy
Gray kitchen IKEA "Budbin"

Frames are available in 2 versions - white and black. They can be closed with a decorative panel or strip of the desired color by selecting the appropriate one in the corresponding section of the site "Panels and strips".

There are open cabinets and separate METOD modules for storing wine and other items, such as beautiful jars of spices, cookbooks, etc. These are available in the "Vadholma", "Tutemo" series in the color of natural wood or in white and black.

Kitchen METOD with open shelves

I'm probably late with my report on the new Ikea Method kitchen building system.
But the beginning of April was too busy ... And a walk around IKEA usually takes me a lot of time :)))
But today it so happened that I found three hours and went to study a new “method” from IKEA :)

“We are excited to introduce you to METOD: this is our new modular kitchen system. By the word "new" we mean fundamentally new elements included in its composition: frames, facades, hinges and much more! All these elements allow you to create the most convenient and unique kitchen for you. Did you think that the kitchen of your dreams would not fit in the space you had or would not fit into your budget? Or maybe they just didn't find anything suitable? Explore this section – don't limit your dream!” - the words are from the IKEA website.

Interesting? Of course... it's interesting not even because it's something new... but because now, unfortunately, in this price range (already far and not quite cheap) IKEA still has no competitors.

I also loved the old Faktum, especially in the last couple of years, Ikea pleased with the colors of the facades and the quality of the finishes ... It's a pity that 6 years ago there was no such choice.

After today's walk, I'll probably say that I wouldn't mind getting an IKEA kitchen. Although my lyuboff was given to the Germans .. well ... But we are talking about Ikea :) and the new Method.

What is new in it?
basically EVERYTHING!
I warn you - there are a lot of photos :)))

Let's go through the sizes:
The new method has become a multiple of 20 cm. And the size range of the width of the cabinets is now as follows:

The width of cabinets from METHOD is 20, 40, 60, 80 cm.

Cabinet depths: 37 and 60 cm. Bottom cabinets also have a depth of 37 cm.
together with the door, the depth will be: 62 and 39 cm, respectively.

Cabinet height:
the lower cabinets are all 80 cm high.
upper: 40, 60, 80, 100 cm
columns: 200, 220, 140 cm
superstructure height: 40 cm.
leg height: min 8 max 16 cm.
Plinth height - 8 cm.

Yes, there are no more 30 cm cabinets .. and there is no 45 cm cabinet .. and there is no 45 cm front. Therefore, you don’t have to set yourself a goal - go to torment IKEA sellers and managers - how can I put a 45 cm dishwasher ... Very simple - choose 60 cm facade. In the remaining 15 cm, you build a 10-15 cm pull-out basket for tablets and other cleaning products - very convenient.

However, there is one BUT in the choice of built-in appliances: Ikea gently hints at the purchase of appliances from her ... Let's see ...

Here on the wall in the office. The VKONTAKTE group had a question about a free-standing gas stove:

" - Good afternoon! Question about new kitchens METHOD - is it possible to install a non-built-in gas stove? The height of the lower drawers is more than 90 cm (drawer + plinth + countertop), the height of standard plates is 85 cm. How to deal with these?

- Evgenia, good afternoon! If you are interested in a podium for the stove, then the METOD kitchen range has a special add-on that allows you to raise the stove to a height of up to 7 cm. “

Many began to complain about the inconvenient size ... Well, I don’t know, my opinion is that everything is fine.
This is not a premium class kitchen where everything is made special for you for your kitchen. This is a segment that does not have to wait ... you can “design it for yourself, your loved one”, bring it and assemble it in almost one day. Of course, you won’t collect it in one day .. well, in three or four - for sure!

What are other news? Or old?

Colour.
I liked the color palette and the level of quality of the facades. The color scale and style of facades is rather various. I think now you can easily choose a combination for almost any idea for the interior.

And glossy facades, and veneered, and painted. From bright white to black colors. With devitrification and just deaf. framed and frameless ... I liked the beautiful yellow color. so nice… very nice. But the black kitchen looked very stylish. True, I didn’t like the pens on the sample. From this set of pens 30 options as is now could have chosen others. IMHO.

There are now two main colors for frames: white and dark brown. And for the interior design, funny inserts called TUTEMO appeared. The brightest colors. The booth presents a white kitchen with such inserts - very cool! Of course, the idea is not new .. and the Italians have been offering such open colored shelves for three years now ... But now the trend has reached Ikea .. But carefully look at the sizes. These inserts are not available in all.

There were facades 10 cm high for drawers. Now you can make 8 drawers in one cabinet! Cool ... good for storing tablecloths, napkins ... little things .. (I already imagined how I laid out all my culinary there.

There are no complaints about the cabinets, I twisted it, turned it, opened all the doors in almost all the exposed kitchens ...

Opening system.

There are a lot of samples with the “push-up” system or facades “without handles”. Kitchens look very stylish of course ...
I pressed a lot .. the result: the opening is smooth, they do not immediately open to the full depth, but by 10 cm. then bring your hands to the desired turning angle.

They also close smoothly.
Of course, there were fingerprints on all glossy facades ... on light ones it was not so noticeable, on dark ones it was much.

Loops. Everyone said that the bloom would leave ... it didn’t leave ... at least on the samples it is everywhere. Check it out personally :)

The filling for the cabinets is similar as it was before. Just resized.
Liked the containers my favorite in the new method. Very well they stand there in terms of width and depth. If someone does not remember, they put things in order in my non-IKEA kitchen cabinets.

What else? The back part is the same .. ordinary hardboard, but everything seems to be well and efficiently done.
I noticed that all cabinets are now offered to be fixed to the wall on the bar, both upper and lower. Upper cabinets lag behind the wall by about 5 mm.

I liked the proposed built-in illumination of the working area. Pleasant not very bright, but comfortable light.

It seemed to me that they increased the variety of countertops. At least the choice of 4 rows pleased. Lots of natural wood.

The thickness of the tabletops is from 1.8 cm to 3.8 cm.

Everyone is talking about cost now. I can’t argue, since the last time I cheated on IKEA customers was two years ago ...
But there are reviews that it has become more expensive - tell me, what has not risen in price over the past six months? :)

You can still plan everything yourself. Ikeev's planner is already updated on the site. Managers say it works well. I didn't check it myself.

“Friends, currently the METOD kitchen planner is working normally, we have not noticed any failures. If the program does not load or does not work correctly, we recommend that you check the system requirements. In addition, changing the browser or clearing cookies often helps to get rid of such problems.” from the office of the IKEA VKontakte group.

Ikea Khimki (Moscow) has increased the number of tables with computers to work both on their own and with managers. Today there was no huge queue, but since it is completely electronic, walking through the halls, you periodically hear how they call someone who wants to get a kitchen by number.

I liked the idea of an impromptu buffet. These legs are sold at Ikea in the Dining room section - countertops and legs.

Ventilated inserts appeared in skirting boards and cornices.

What is your impression of Ikea furniture? I will answer this question not from the side of the customer, but from the side of a specialist in its installation, since only the consumer can give an assessment of performance characteristics.

Assembling an Ikea kitchen is fun

The fact that assembling an Ikea kitchen is a pleasure is unambiguous. These works can be done even by a non-professional. It is enough to take a hammer and a screwdriver, and detailed instructions will be attached to each product. The only question is how long it will take to assemble an Ikea kitchen and how well everything will turn out. I would like to tell you about one case from practice. The client ordered the assembly of four Ikea double-leaf cabinets. During our work, two girls also wanted to assemble a small 40cm locker, deciding that they could do it easily and quickly. While we did everything and were about to leave, they had not finished yet. This confirms that everyone should do their own thing. So professionals should be engaged in assembling furniture, not amateurs.

Need to know about this furniture

For those who need to assemble an Ikea kitchen, you need to know that the furniture of this company is of excellent quality of the materials used and fittings, which exactly matches the parts drilled under it from chipboard. The advantages include a combination of kitchen sets with built-in household appliances of this company. It fits exactly, is easy to install, holds well, and generally lasts a long time. Equipment for Ikea under its logo is produced by Whirpool.

Quality is observed, unfortunately, not in all well-known brands. In the kitchens of Leroy Merlin, Castorama, K-Raut, sold in building supermarkets, reaming may not match the required parameters. So, the holes for the screeds are underdrilled, and for the dowels - overdrilled. Definitely, these errors complicate the work of the collector. In such cases, the craftsmen have to make adjustments so that the furniture is correctly installed.

A little about the assembly of the kitchen Leroy Merlin

I would like to quote Leroy Merlin: "God forbid you order the assembly of the Leroy Merlin kitchen in the store itself when buying a kitchen." Also, it is advisable not to fall for the trick that promises free assembly of the kitchen. It is worth saying that there are no qualified assemblers in the Leroy store. You will be offered the services of non-professionals, perhaps even your friends who need hack work. Our specialists had to deal with the results of such work. Unfortunately, we cannot leave positive feedback about it. There should be a separate conversation about the furniture that the Borovichi Mebel factory produces, although, to be honest, I don’t really want to talk about it. It’s just not clear in what condition the factory workers make it. The only way to justify this is that borovichi furniture has a low cost.

Opinion of a professional assembler

Probably, as a professional assembler, it seems to me that obvious shortcomings catch my eye, but a simple consumer does not notice them at all, or considers them very insignificant. Or, as an option, the customers themselves have lower requirements for the quality of the kitchen, because they don’t expect anything else for that kind of money. Some people agree with this, but I think that the quality of Borovichi is at a very low level.

Here is an example that I encountered during the last assembly of Borovichi furniture. The sidewall of the kitchen pencil case (the same detail) is shown from opposite edges. When properly manufactured, they should be mirror identical, but we do not see this. If you pay attention, the distance from the edge of the part to the center of the hole for the tie should be 8mm, but in this case it is 13mm and 3mm. It won't be hard to imagine how the details fit together. Consider other cases with furniture items purchased in one of the supermarkets. On two we will see an under-glued edge. But this is not the worst flaw in the product, since these raw ends will not be visible later. In the following photos, you can see the result, which was obtained with incorrect reaming of parts for dowels. Please note that only the right side of the cabinet is drilled correctly. The edge is not a piece of chipboard glued incorrectly.

Disadvantages of assembling an Ikea kitchen

What can be attributed to the disadvantages of assembling Ikea kitchen furniture?

First, it's a fairly simple, minimalist design. Although, a lot is said about their large staff of designers developing new and original models, but for some reason I did not meet them.

Secondly, I would like to say about the assembly of headsets.

The disadvantages include the fact that in the assortment of this manufacturer there are only standard modules (30.40, 60.80, etc.), which is very different from the kitchen, which can be made to order. For example, if you have a dishwasher with a width of 45 cm, then you will pick up the facade only by 50 cm, since they do not provide for 45 cm. More precisely, they are on sale, but only metal. This option can greatly distort the overall style of the kitchen. So, you made all the facades in red, and one, due to the required size, was taken and put in metal. Will it look nice? A very controversial issue.

Such a solution, at the end of the kitchen, a built-in dishwasher with a width of 45 cm is located in a cabinet with a metal facade, while others have a brown tone. So the customer has to rack his brains about how best to place the module so that all the “non-standards” of a tiny Russian kitchen room, where ventilation ducts or water pipes protrude from the wall, are taken into account.

In my opinion, the absence of normal wall panels can also be considered a disadvantage in the Ikea assembly assortment. Often assemblers, coming to the client, did not find them at all, or they see them bought in Leroy Merlin or Castorama. As it turned out, Ikea sells them not of the quality that I would like to see. These are small pieces 60x50, made of very thin plastic and inconvenient to install. One more nuance. In my practice, I have never seen the end strips for the countertops of this company. So, if you have to tear it apart to install an electric stove, then the ends can be formed only by using connecting strips. Also incomprehensible is the Ikeevskaya edge made for her. It is much thinner than necessary, and also not self-adhesive. For example, we will take a beautiful Ikea countertop and saw it off with a jigsaw to the length we need. If you pay attention, then it is glued around the perimeter with an ABS edge, the thickness of which is 2mm. For pasting the sawn off side, we are offered an edge with a thickness of 0.4 mm. Wouldn't it seem strange to you that one end would be different from the other?

Before assembling the Ikea kitchen

In addition, before assembling the Ikea kitchen, it is necessary to take into account the need for fastening to the walls “tightly”. So, after you have assembled the cabinet and installed it, you will no longer have the opportunity to even slightly move it. To fix it, you must either saw it under the plinth, or vice versa. Since there is no distance from the wall to the lower module to be installed, which is necessary for utilities, the installer has to make cuts for pipes and sockets. And with this mounting option, there must be even walls and corners, which is a rare occurrence for us.

findings

With all the attractiveness of Ikea kitchen furniture, it is better to entrust the assembly of the Ikea kitchen to professionals, because they know exactly how to do it. Our experts will help you to assemble an Ikea kitchen in Moscow, call +7 499 340 32 21

Well, finally I got to my favorite topic - kitchen furniture! The review turned out to be long, because I wanted to talk about my four-year experience with IKEA kitchens. Nothing strengthens a family like a successful and, most importantly, calm repair)))) Well, something, but there were no disputes over the kitchen)))

Over the past 4 years, my family and I have experienced two renovations and relocations. At first, we thought that during the first move we would stay in the apartment for a long time, but three years later, the attraction with the repair and purchase of the kitchen was repeated in the new house. And if it were not for the experience of the previous repair, it would have been difficult, as time was running out. It's good that I already knew exactly where to go for the kitchen! Where I will get exactly what I need, without delay, without delay and rework! And the husband was all for: the kitchen does not need to be ordered - he arrived, made the calculation, paid and bought it! It is simply amazing how well-established production is at IKEA factories: at any time you can buy, replace a headset element and be sure that it will match the desired millimeter by millimeter, that the color will not differ by 1/10000 and, most importantly, you don’t have to wait.

Honestly, I sincerely do not understand why wait two or three months to make a similar Ikeevskaya kitchen to order. The main arguments "against" the IKEA kitchen that I met:

1. "In IKEA there is no kitchen inlaid with gold, and no rhinestones, and no feathers." All this is yes. But with standard “Wishlist”, such as white top / black bottom, thick countertop, “red glossy” and so on, IKEA has already thought of and provided for everything. Moreover, if you really want so much, you can always “finish everything with a file” (glue rhinestones, make stained glass, for example);

2. "Quality of the material." Based on my experience in operating MDF kitchen fronts from IKEI, I can say with confidence: they are durable, the paint has not peeled off, they can be washed / cleaned. By the way, their line also includes facades with natural oak veneer, which looks just great. In general, the IKEA Method kitchen catalog includes more than 20 facade options, plus color variations in some types;

3. The argument “a custom-made kitchen can be made to your size” is not an argument. In the new IKEA Method series, there is a wide range of cabinets, with a width that is a multiple of 20 cm (that is, 20, 40, 60 and 80 cm.) Not enough? Yes, such a variety can be arranged in any way;

4. "Appliances / worktops" from other manufacturers are not suitable. Suitable Read more.

As I mentioned above, I have been familiar with IKEA kitchens for 4 years. My first “dream kitchen” was the Faktum Lidingo series (the series was discontinued in 2014) - milky white, with 92 cm high glass wall cabinets and a black countertop. When moving to a new house, it was a tragedy for me to leave her. Therefore, my husband was given an ultimatum: either in the new house it will be the same (for three years she has not failed even once, she only made me happy), or I refuse to move. He agreed, but at the end of the repair, one big problem emerged: along the wall along which the furniture was planned to be installed, there was a concrete curb 18 cm high and 19 cm wide, which made it impossible to put the bottom row of cabinets close to the wall, and, like, it was necessary to do kitchen to order. And here the experience of past years came in handy (see argument No. 3 about the countertop). In IKEA, the width of the countertop is 62 cm, against, for example, the countertop from Leroy, whose width is only 60 cm. It would seem that it does not fit. But no! Fits! A skilled craftsman perfectly installed it in our apartment, not forgetting about the overlap in front. A two-centimeter gap from the wall was perfectly closed with a plinth to match the table top. I'm sure all this can be done with the Method. Ikea countertops are sometimes a little short, but you want a whole one, right? . Here's how it looked:

installed "foreign" countertop

Therefore, with the new kitchen, the decision that the countertop would be “not native” did not bother us, because there were no other options. In the end, we bought an 80 cm wide solid worktop for our new kitchen, and everything is fine.

Now about technology. Succumbing to the price hike panic at the end of 2014 (remember when the dollar jumped?), we, knowing that we would be moving this year, bought a Bosh built-in dishwasher in advance, “at the old prices”, and she was waiting in the wings. That's what I've been waiting for. When designing a kitchen at IKEA, we were warned that there was a high ("almost 90%") chance that it would not fit into the Method, the door would not close. But we decided to try. And what do you think? Yes, with a creak, but it was possible to install it in the Method. True, there is one caveat: look, 8 cm space has formed between the countertop and the PMM lid, that is, it has risen lower than necessary. But she got up. My husband still can’t get around to making a shelf for me there for pans, I need to remind him.

Well, right now about my new kitchen. My love for Lidingo facades remained the same, and in the Method series there were almost the same facades under the new name "Budbin" in milky and gray colors. My husband decided to “change something” and insisted on gray facades, and I did not object.

On the IKEA website, you can plan your own kitchen without waiting in line for a consultant. Just when we came to buy it, there was a terrible hype (it was April-May 2015, just when we got to the debut of this new series). People lined up for a day or two. I mastered the site myself and came to the consultants prepared. I was given a place at the computer and there I already managed within 30 minutes. Then, with a consultant, we removed everything unnecessary and EVERYTHING. The kitchen could be paid for and taken away. How fast!

About the features of the Method series

The line of facades has expanded. My Budbin is "run in" on Faktum, the quality is excellent.

Austrian fittings Blum, available for Faktum, changed to another, more expensive (Maximer) and cheaper (Forvara). Having saved on small things, such as, for example, interior lighting, I decided to take Maksimera. Having been operating the kitchen for more than a year, I can state with confidence that it works flawlessly. Nothing loosened, no creaks.

The width of the cabinets has become a multiple of 20 cm. Here is a small minus. The 20 cm drawer is narrow. There is little that can be put into it, 30 cm was better.
