    In 2015, the design of the phase regulator was updated once again, the exhaust was changed and the electronics were reconfigured, which gave the engine an additional 8 hp, and the F4R with 143 forces was born. As for the real problems, the F4R has a throttle gasket, because of which, over time, the car starts to start worse in cold winters.

    There were also complaints about the noise that the rollers of additional equipment, driven by the timing belt, made. By the way, it must be changed every 60 thousand kilometers, if the belt breaks, this motor has no chance: the valves must meet the pistons.

    There are no other problems with this engine. There are problems with the ignition coils and spark plugs, but they are caused by leaking washer nozzles. Either replace them or protect the spark plug wells from moisture. A car with this engine, manual transmission and all-wheel drive consumes a little more than 10 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers in urban mode.     Motor K4M

    The 1.6-liter K4M (the exact volume is 1598 cm3) produces 102 horsepower. Domestic motorists consider it not powerful enough for this car. But they are not quite right. Although it has less engine power and torque than a two-liter one, the transmission of a car with such an internal combustion engine has different gear ratios, and in practice the car drives very briskly, you just need not be afraid to turn the engine up to 4 thousand revolutions.

    There is even inside information from one of the engineers who designed the Duster that the all-wheel drive version was originally supposed to be equipped with this more balanced engine. In the EU, this model was previously sold only with it and with a diesel engine, but there it was Dacia.

    This power unit does not have any typical “sores”, except for the above-described minor problem with the throttle gasket. But it can consume more gasoline than a two-liter one. The engine can easily go 400-500 thousand km with proper maintenance. Replacing the timing belt - once every 60 thousand km, the valve clearance is adjusted using hydraulic lifters.

    Motor H4M

    This engine from Nissan began to be installed on the Duster in 2015. The working volume is 1.6 liters, the power is 114 hp. The engine is not bad, has excellent elasticity. But its block is made of aluminum, which means that it cannot be repaired. There are no hydraulic lifters, valve clearances are adjusted with washers, the motor design is very simple. Instead of a timing belt, a chain is used, which pleases many. Up to 150 thousand, there are no problems with it.

    Of the weaknesses of this internal combustion engine, one can single out the need to remove the intake manifold in order to change the candles. And you need to do this every 30 thousand mileage, preferably at the service station. The engine is afraid of overheating.

    The resource of this power unit is up to 350 thousand km. Fuel consumption: about 9.5 liters in the city, a little more than 7 on the highway. Produced in the Russian Federation.

    What to choose, it is up to the buyer to decide. The option with a two-liter gasoline 143-horsepower unit, manual transmission and all-wheel drive looks optimal.

    What else is worth paying attention to? When looking at the Duster in the secondary market, pay attention to the body in the tailgate area near the chrome Duster emblem, the edge in the bumper area, the rear wheel arches (their front part is sandblasted by wheels). See if the mastic on the back of the roof drains is cracked, if the paintwork is worn out in those places where it comes into contact with the door seals.

    Pay attention to the power steering tube in the area where it is attached to the subframe. If the Duster is properly maintained and correctly operated, then it will pass 150-170 thousand without causing any problems to the owner. Further, it may be necessary to replace the cardan joints, CV joints, shock absorbers, RCS. But nothing is eternal, these problems are not particularly costly in terms of finances.
