Great Wall HOVER H3, H5 (Hover) engine and transmission resource. Great Wall Hover H5 - an alternative version of the UAZ Patriot Options and prices

Hello dear readers! I decided to contribute my two cents on the Great Wall Hover H5 and file here my impressions of this car. The events described began their report in 2013, so many statements can already be revised.

So. In early spring, well, or late winter of 2013, a simple, at first glance, task arose: to replace the second family car - the Chevrolet Niva for trips to construction sites (work), villages, nature and destinations where asphalt is not always a priori, so to speak. At the same time, there was a desire to get not just a condo SUV, but also a certain amount of comfort.

Choice. Initially, they did not look towards Hover, but looked at used crossovers / SUVs of 08-09. up to 800,000 rubles Everything was sad: Outlanders, X-Trails, Tiguans and others like them disappeared by themselves due to the lack of off-road potential, and they are all too small.

For the same reason, Duster disappeared, and the new Niva was not considered in principle. Korean Sorento and Sportazh could have a ride, but there were no normal options on the secondary market, and there was no desire to wool the market for half a year.

Pajero Sport I is too archaic, but the wonderful L200 pickup has disappeared because it is a pickup. Talk about Hover, I noticed, is accompanied by talk about UAZ and I have something to say, I’ll say it now.

Why not UAZ. UAZ Patriot is a great SUV, no doubt about it. My father gave me one case: the director bought a short Gelenvagen for hunting / fishing from them and one day he put it to the test in a field measured with snow. A diesel UAZ pulled it out from there.

However, the same UAZ, before becoming a cool car, the owner courted himself for six months, and what he himself could not - in the service. After six months and a lot of investment, he got a car that I would not mind seeing in my garage.

To suffer for six months, making a normal car out of it! Are you seriously!? Have you seen crash tests? The body breaks off the frame and flies forward, killing the driver with the steering column, and the passenger just about the dashboard, and this is at a speed of 54 km / h on a deformable barrier.

They say, of course, that both the quality and the level of safety are growing, but it’s reluctant to check on yourself and your loved ones. Go through the forest, dear UAZ people, be careful not to stumble.

I will continue. I fell victim to advertising. I saw Hover H3 in the shopping center, asked the price, but what! (yes, with an exclamation mark) you can take H5 as well. Looked at the site, went to the salon, sat and felt. On a test drive, the manager didn’t let me drive, some kind of strange one, but then I didn’t regret it) I myself wouldn’t have done that with the car.

Do not take the car for a test drive! Salon in the industrial zone, off-road at hand. And we went on a painfully familiar route, along which I, on my Astra, when I went to the garage, didn’t accelerate faster than 5-10 km / h, and even potsyks on tired Zhiguli fly 20-30 km / h.

The decision what to take came to me when we were quietly and comfortably, trying not to fly out of our seats, flying along this "road", shattered by generations of dump trucks, at a speed of 75-80 km / h. I looked at crash test records at home: I think that in Astra I had less chances, if anything.

Impression

A couple of weeks later they formalized the relationship. Received: black Great Wall Hover H5, frame, gasoline, 2.4, 136 hp (this is a muddy moment, how many "horses" there are - a philosophical question, someone writes that 126 or 124) Manual transmission-5, rear-wheel drive, hard-wired front, lowering, ABS, EBD, front airbags, climate control, CD / DVD / bluetooth, something else, a multimedia system (good pleasant sound) with a touchscreen glaring in the sun, which displays a picture from a color camera.

There are also USB, AUX, rain and light sensors, rear parking sensors, a multifunction steering wheel with sound and telephone control, good PTFs, and not like some, for show, "leather" interior, heated mirrors, electric driver's seat, popogreyki.

Additionally: signalization, black wheels, steps, crankcase and razdatki, wheel arch liners and floor mats and trunk.

For all 780,000 rubles and the order of technicians after 1,800 km (possibly earlier, but not later) to come to MOT to stretch the head. Then I read a lot of negativity that, they say, the gasket breaks through and mixes antifreeze with oil, that the cylinder head is not enough from the factory. Maybe they were not warned at the time of purchase that they should be stretched?

Great Wall Hover H5 inside and out. I like him. Someone says that the head optics looks like a Mazda CX-7. On this occasion, I express a restrained agreement - maybe similar. In general, the Chinese have learned to make machines that you can look at without shuddering.

I understand that now there will be many who disagree, but sometimes I can’t decide for myself what I like more than the H5 or the Prado 150. This Prado is very scary). It is assembled well, the body is galvanized (I am ready to discuss this point later, there was a sad experience), the gaps in places are not the smallest, but uniform. The only negative is the closing of the back door, you need to clap it well, and traces of a rather diligent hammering are visible on the lock loop.

Inside, the Hover H5 is no frills, but made to be the envy of many. The gaps are like in the best houses, there are no crickets, the skin seems to be leather, not eco-leather, although I'm sure it is).

I touched the plastic, it's hard, you can not love it for it, but I don't care. There are more than enough places in all directions, niches, drawers - everything is there. The trunk, too, be healthy, but the back row is folded, forming a small step.

The steering wheel is not adjustable for reach, but with my 182 cm height, I sat down immediately and comfortably, although I want this adjustment, of course, and that the pedals are also adjustable, but it’s like with a night camera).

The instruments are perfectly readable, which cannot be said about the touchscreen, it glares, although this trouble is typical for many cars. The control of secondary functions in Hover is not an example of ergonomics, but oh well, I set the climate in auto mode to 22 degrees and forgot, I forgot the disks at home, so there is nothing to control there, and the radio is not clear how to set it up. From a flash drive, everything reads and plays perfectly, there are no questions.

I must say that all this economy looks soundly, but it is noticeable that the designers did not really take a steam bath.

Hover H5 in the city and on the highway. First of all, I appreciated the suspension. Of course, as a test drive, I will never ride it, but it goes perfectly on our subdivided roads, swallowing everything. The roads immediately got better.

The engine is enough to stay in city traffic, the gear ratios are well chosen: 65-75 km / h in third gear, if you push it, then in fourth at 95-100 km / h the tachometer shows about 2,500 rpm, for this motor - that's it .

But it's better to start your acquaintance with dynamic characteristics from the brake pedal - this is not a C-class sedan. The same is true in corners: rolls are present, but there is no feeling of “woolness”, it is elastic, but the mass of the car makes itself felt.

On the highway for me the most comfortable speed is 110-130 km / h. Although I noticed that I have this on any machine. There is silence in the cabin, the wind doesn’t howl, the rubber doesn’t make noise, you can’t hear the handouts, sometimes I don’t even turn on the music (I just forget to throw in the disks, but I haven’t figured out the radio, although I haven’t figured out the radio in any car yet).

There is a reserve of power for overtaking trucks, although you have to be honest here: the H5 Hover with a 2.4 engine is far from a car, overtaking must be calculated, it can’t always pull out in fifth as you want, you have to switch to fourth, and at 4,000 rpm mine engine becomes audible, and serenity leaves me.

A diesel engine can solve the problem, but an acquaintance of his father got more than 200,000 rubles of repairs because of our solarium, although he has been riding diesel engines for more than a year, experienced.

But back to the city. Drive the Hover H5 in the city, in narrow cramped yards, in parking lots, etc. quite convenient, I thought it would be worse. The mirrors are large and comfortable, without straining or changing the adjustment, I can see where the curbs are down there. The camera, of course, helps not to drive anywhere by the stern, and together with the parking sensors, information is obtained in abundance.

The only thing you want, well, since such things have gone, is a graphical display of information from the parking sensors and a camera with markings and night mode. Why - I have no idea, all my life I was content with just mirrors and everything is fine, except for that incident in the parking lot when I scratched the bumper, but you have to want something that would be something to strive for).

Great Wall Hover H5 off-road. I had to check once, but quite seriously. It was necessary to pick up a person from the farm and take him in a lying position to the city. It rained for more than a week, the night before the trip too, and the route was simple: a couple of kilometers of concrete, then four kilometers of primer through the fields, then go down to the farm and back.

I walked along the concrete road, remembering the test drive, but slower - buzz! Before the primer stopped, turned on the four-wheel drive and popper. The primer turned into a natural swamp, in some places in the lowlands it leaked from the fields and the native black soil instantly covered the wheels with a thick layer.

I was driving slowly in first gear, somewhere sideways, once my fellow travelers said: well, that’s it, we’ve arrived, and the Hover H5 was slowly but surely moving towards the goal. In some places I plunged into the slurry along the rapids, how I didn’t sit on the bottom, I don’t know.

I practically slipped into the farm on a mud cushion (slope of 30 degrees), as soon as I got into a rut, I went. While gathering, while loading, I cleaned the rubber as best I could and drove out already at a reduced, a couple of times with a negative (rolled down) speed, until I raked up to something solid.

The way back after that was no longer terrible, I was sure: Hover H5 will pass! And he passed. With pleasant music, without raising the speed above 2,800 rpm, without howling, roaring, maintaining a comfortable temperature in the cabin. Otherwise, a person would die, how to give a drink.

disadvantages

The Great Wall Hover H5 is a fairly agile car, but there is a claim to steering: it feels like almost four turns from lock to lock and there is not enough feedback. And although you can really turn the steering wheel with one finger, you want more "elasticity". In general, mixed feelings. I like the 5-speed manual transmission with well-chosen gear ratios, but I don’t like how it works. I don’t really care that the lever shakes at idle, but the gears really turn on somehow, I don’t know how. When I went to the Passat, I did not think about the fact that the work of the box can cause some feelings (now on the Golf 7 I just get high). Then, in Example P12, I noticed that switching on / off the gear is accompanied by a rather straining effort - you can’t do it with a slight movement of the hand, everything is worse in Hover. The gears are switched on somehow indistinctly, i.e. You can’t miss the right gear, but the sensations remain. Switching from the first to the second one generally takes place in two stages, except perhaps without regassing. Although, perhaps, I find fault, after Niva everything is gorgeous) But, if you tried to ride in a good car ... Well, you understand me.

Outcome

Here it is - a miracle of the Chinese auto industry. And crawl through where not everyone is given. It's fine in the city and on the highway. The Gret Wall Hover H5 is well equipped, and for its price - just great. He would have a normal motor and generally a great car.

Japanese gasoline engines 4G63S4M, 4G64S4M, 4G69S4N, installed on Mitsubishi, have found their application on the Hover. The diesel GW4D20 is a self-developed engine, as well as a transmission. The advantages and disadvantages of this machine are quite subjective. "What is good for a German is death for a Russian." For those who are used to riding with a “breeze”, the Hover is clearly not suitable. Well, it does not accelerate, there is not enough power, it is rather weak.

But is this feature a disadvantage? We will look for the answer in the operating and maintenance instructions, which indicate that the maximum speed for gasoline is 100 km / h, and for diesel - 90 km / h. So is it worth saying that it does not pull. Who is warned is armed. The frame structure of an SUV with an engine capacity of 2.0 and 2.4 does not provide for cross-country racing.

The transmission of our own production is designed to work in tandem with the engine. When trying to overclock and ask for more horsepower than it is, the gearbox is under severe stress, which leads to premature wear of both the box itself and the power unit. When commissioning the new Great Wall Hover, it is necessary to observe the break-in regime, which is 1000 km for gasoline 4G63S4M, 4G64S4M, 4G69S4N, and 1500 km for diesel GW4D20. The same requirement applies to engines that have undergone a major overhaul. When all-wheel drive is turned on, the permissible speed is: 4H-40 km/h, 4L-30 km/h. At the same time, the use of 4WD is only allowed on slippery roads and in a straight line. Failure to comply with and ignorance of these rules leads to problems in the box, axles and transfer case.

The resource of the engine and transmission Hover can be increased

To increase the service life and resource, it is necessary to follow the maintenance regulations and operating rules:

  • Observe the speed limit.
  • Check oil level daily.
  • Change the engine oil every 8000 km. run.
  • In winter, start driving after warming up.
  • Do not operate the diesel engine at idle for more than 20 minutes, avoid traffic jams.
  • Use only high quality fuel.
  • After long trips, do not immediately turn off, let cool with the engine running.
  • Do not use the machine to carry heavy items.

All rules are written in the user manual. And unfortunately, some of them are simply impossible to fulfill due to subjective and objective reasons.

You can extend the life with the help of RVS Master tribotechnical compositions. By virtue of their properties and the principle of action, which is based on the chemical reaction of substitution of iron atoms for magnesium atoms, they are rightly called repair and restoration compositions. The passage of the reaction is possible only if there is: a cast-iron block - for the engine, from which the Hover is made; ferrous metals used in the manufacture of bearings, gears and transmission shafts. As a result of the application of the RVS-Master tribological composition, a ceramic-metal layer is formed on the friction surfaces that are subject to wear. And this is not a temporary film, as is the case with oil additives. In addition, a permanent presence in the oil is not required. One or two treatments are enough, depending on the degree of wear, to increase the resource up to 120 thousand km. run. Repair and restoration compositions allow:

  • Restore compression
  • Reduce oil consumption
  • Increase power and handling
  • Stabilize idling
  • Restore the contact patch on the gear teeth
  • Protect against wear
  • Facilitate cold start
  • Reduce noise and vibration levels, both in the engine and in the transmission
  • Easy and smooth gear shifting without "kicks" and bumps

The possibilities of tribological compositions are due to the characteristics of the newly formed ceramic-metal layer, which has an abnormally low coefficient of friction, is resistant to shock loads and is plastic, protects against oxidation and corrosion. As the layer wears out, it can be restored by repeated treatments.

For gasoline engines 4G63S4M, 4G64S4M, 4G69S4N, the composition is designed for 4 liters of oil.

For diesel GW4D20 - composition, designed for 6 liters of oil.

Despite the fact that the volume of gear oil in the gearbox is 3.0 liters, the front axle is 1.8 liters, in the rear axle is 2.7 liters, we recommend using the above compositions.

Fuel for Great Wall Hover and consumption.

It is recommended to use gasoline not lower than AI-93 and only good quality diesel fuel. Such requirements are specified in the technical characteristics of the vehicle. The use of fuel with a low octane and cetane number leads to detonation, the power of already low-torque engines decreases, and consumption increases. In addition, the content of impurities in low-quality fuel accelerates the process of mechanical wear of parts of the power unit. Particularly sensitive is the GW4D20, which is equipped with a common rail injection system.

The use of low-quality diesel fuel leads to incomplete combustion, which in turn makes it difficult to start a diesel engine in cold weather, the formation of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, on rings and injectors, and as a result, the appearance of black smoke from the exhaust pipe. The high sulfur content in diesel fuel, together with condensate, form sulfuric acid, which causes chemical corrosion of the cylinder walls of the Hover engine and pistons. Ultimately, the above reasons leading to the failure of the fuel pump, fittings, and the power unit itself.

For petrol 4G63S4M, 4G64S4M, 4G69S4N

For diesel GW4D20

Their use allows:

  • Restore spray pattern
  • Normalize idling
  • Eliminate dips and twitches during acceleration
  • Normalize acceleration dynamics
  • Reduce consumption
  • Compensate for the lack of lubricants in the fuel
  • Clean up the injector
  • Restore line pressure

The compositions do not contain chemical solvents and do not lift dirt from the tank, do not change the composition and properties of the fuel.

Gur on Hover H3 and H5

The principle of operation and maintenance is no different from hydraulic boosters of other car brands. But the quality of assembly and seals leaves much to be desired. In the event of leaks and leakage of fluid through seals and seals, which can occur on a new car, it may be enough to cause the whistle and hum of the power steering pump to appear. What to do if the warranty repair is denied? Timely use to restore the power steering pump will restore the linear dimensions of the parts, reduce the gaps on the friction pairs, as a result, remove the rumble and howl, and make the steering wheel light.

Repair and restoration compositions are a new technology in repair, reliable protection against wear and an increase in the life of units and machines.

On the suburban highway, another feature was revealed. With uniform motion, sometimes the question arose: “We, it seems, do not lag, but overtake everyone. Where are they going?." We compared the readings of the standard speedometer with those on the GPS-receiver taken with us. It turned out that the error in the big direction is large, especially at high speeds. In figures, this is expressed as follows - 80 km / h in reality turn out to be 71-72 km / h, 100 km / h - 90 km / h, and 110 km / h - 95 km / h.

The 2.48 gear ratio makes downshifting very efficient, and the "short" first stage in the gearbox further enhances this feature. You can crawl uphill at a snail's pace at idle without touching the accelerator.

On the battlefield

Hover H5 is an SUV with Part Time all-wheel drive scheme, that is, the moment is constantly transmitted only to the rear axle. Driving on all-wheel drive on hard surfaces is undesirable, this will lead to accelerated wear of tires, main pairs and transfer case. At the same time, bearing in mind that it is desirable to switch to the 4x4 scheme in advance, when entering the training ground, the first thing we do is turn on the four-wheel drive with the corresponding button on the dashboard. Despite the fact that many modern SUVs allow the inclusion of four-wheel drive when driving at low speeds, we did this at a complete stop. This avoids additional loads on the switching mechanisms.

On the descents and ascents of the range, the “lower” also drew special attention to itself. Its connection is permissible only in advance and at a complete stop of the car. The 2.48 ratio makes downshifting in the Hover H5 very efficient, and the "short" first gear in the gearbox further enhances this feature. You can crawl at a snail's pace at idle without touching the accelerator, and the engine will not stall even when driving up a decent hill. Naturally, the same property allows you to effectively brake the engine on the descents.

All the charm of a long-stroke gas pedal is immediately felt: with its help, you can very accurately dose the torque on the wheels, preventing them from slipping. This SUV really knows how to drive “pull”, and this is a very valuable quality for someone who often moves off the asphalt.

The suspension is also traditional for this type of car - an independent double wishbone front on longitudinal torsion bars, a continuous axle on springs and rods at the rear. In addition to the already mentioned energy intensity, such a scheme also has good moves. Obviously, the front torsion bar structurally does not imply a large “span”, however, it has a number of other valuable characteristics: low weight and the number of components, reliability and unpretentiousness. No wonder a similar design is used even on armored personnel carriers. But the rear spring suspension on the H5 shows good progress. Let the concrete "waves" of the polygon be adapted for trucks, but the car tenaciously clings to the surface with all four wheels. Hover does not have a cross-axle differential lock in the rear axle, but we did not manage to achieve diagonal hanging. All this allows us to expect that the H5 will not be suddenly immobilized on difficult terrain.

On the “correct” tires (even if they are of the All Terrain class), the car’s capabilities will increase significantly.

However, with geometric cross-country ability, not everything is as good as we would like. The angle of entry is limited by a plastic bumper protruding forward (28 degrees), behind - a “reserve” hanging under the bottom of the trunk and a long overhang (16 degrees), and the clearance is not so outstanding 190 mm. When assaulting slopes, it is also necessary to remember about the long wheelbase: the ramp angle is small (19 degrees) and you can “sit on your belly” at terrain fractures. However, even in such a situation, it will be difficult to damage anything, most of the units from below are “drowned” inside the frame, or covered with thick crossbars.

The ability to test the H5 on slippery soils in our case was limited to tires with an absolutely highway tread pattern. It was worth moving out onto the ground, wet after the rain, as Hover began to wag the stern and try to slide into any, even the smallest rut. At the same time, he did not try to get stuck and, on the whole, behaved predictably. We believe that on the “correct” tires (even if they are of the All Terrain class), the capabilities of the car will increase significantly.

Here we were able to check the operation of the ABS system. It comes into operation not too late, but provides quite a good and predictable slowdown. At low speeds, the system allows the wheels to lock up slightly, thereby reducing stopping distances on surfaces such as sand or fine gravel.

The average fuel consumption for the entire time of almost 700-kilometer test drive was about 11 l/100 km. So Hover proved to be also quite economical car for its class. The volume of the fuel tank is 70 liters, which, with such indicators, promises a cruising range at one gas station “up to a full” about 600 km.

The attitude towards cars from China in our country is still wary. However, this Great Wall is quite capable of shaking "public opinion" - in terms of quality and ease of use, it has already gone far ahead of its predecessors. Let the Hover H5 not yet be a "Chinese revolution". This is still a car for a connoisseur of constructive simplicity and the classic canons of real frame SUVs. But the next and very significant step in conquering the “place under the sun” has been made.

In the end, the "Koreans" were also once feared ...

SUVs Great Wall Hover H5 are very popular among Russian motorists who prefer Chinese cars. Many of them confidently declare that the Hover H5 is the main competitor of the domestic one in our market. Is it really? Let's try to figure it out.
The first Great Wall Hover H5 appeared on the roads of Russia in 2011 and immediately sold out like hot cakes. The SUV attracted many buyers not only with its “serious” appearance, but also with the promises of the manufacturer to provide the car with excellent cross-country ability, often very important in our climatic conditions. But let's leave the Chinese promises for a while, and return to the appearance of the car (see photo and video).

More SUV reviews:

The current second generation Great Wall Hover H5 2012-2013 sold in Russia was frankly copied from the Isuzu Axiom of the period 2001-2004, after which the car was slightly ennobled, in particular, adding more attractive headlights, clearly reminiscent of a similar element from the Mazda CX-7 .

In addition, Chinese designers have replaced the grille, added a different front bumper with a decorative stamping that mimics the bottom protection of top European and Japanese crossovers, and also slightly changed the contours of the wheel arches. It is worth noting that after the manipulations done, the appearance of the H5 has become noticeably more attractive, but it is still far from the standards of modern auto design.

Perhaps this gap in design can be eliminated in the updated version of the SUV, which has survived another (already third) restyling at the very beginning of May 2013. The Chinese announced a new version of the Hover H5 with chic and salute in Shanghai, but nothing is known about the timing of its appearance in Russia. However, even here it was not without banal imitation and copying of bright design solutions of famous world brands.

  • In terms of dimensions, the Gret Wall Hover H 5 is no different from its competitors, easily fitting into the standards of its class. The SUV is 4649 mm long, 1810 mm wide and 1745 mm high. The wheelbase is equal to 2700 mm exactly, the width of the front track does not exceed 1515 mm, and the rear track fits into 1520 mm, ground clearance (clearance) - 240 mm.
  • The curb weight of the H5 does not exceed 1880 kg, and the maximum permissible gross vehicle weight of the SUV must not exceed 2280 kg.
  • The “five” is completed with seventeen-inch alloy wheels with six double spokes with 235/65 R17 tires.

We also note that the greatest consumer demand in our country is for cars painted in shades of silver and black graphite. However, their popularity may be due to the fact that all other available shades are offered as an option for an additional fee.

The interior of the five-seater SUV Gretvol Hover H5 is not remarkable. The quality of finishing materials is rather average, but quite comparable, for example, with the same UAZ, which is considered the main domestic competitor of the Chinese.

The ergonomics of the front panel also does not rise above the average level, some of its elements are not very conveniently located, but the very concept of the panel design is noticeably outdated. Pleases only convenient instrument lighting, and a sufficiently large amount of free space for both front and rear passengers.

For the latter, by the way, comfortable adjustable head restraints are provided, but the front row of seats, although made in a sporty manner, is extremely uncomfortable and is not suitable for long trips.

Another plus of Hover 5 in the current generation is a roomy trunk, capable of taking up to 810 liters of cargo in the standard state, and with the rear row seats retracted and all 2074 liters.

Specifications Great Wall Hover H5: the body of the car rests on the frame and is complemented by a rather rigid suspension, which is based on an independent double-lever torsion bar at the front, and at the rear on a dependent spring circuit. All modifications are equipped with all-wheel drive, the constant part of which is transferred to the rear axle, and the front one is connected through an electronic clutch, which sometimes likes to fail if you put an SUV on its belly.
We also add that the transfer case of an SUV is equipped with a low gear, and this is a rarity not only among Chinese cars of this class.

The brakes of the Gray Wall Hover H5 are dual-circuit, with ventilated discs, ABS and EBD support. The steering of the off-road vehicle is based on a rack and pinion mechanism with a hydraulic booster.
The Chinese do not offer a large selection of engines for the Russian version of the Great Wall Hover H 5. There is one gasoline unit and one diesel engine, which, according to the manufacturer, is quite enough in our market. Judging by the reviews of the owners, it is better to give preference to a gasoline engine, since a diesel engine is very expensive to maintain, breaks down more often and has a very hard time going through the winter. As for the specific technical parameters of the power plants, the role of the gasoline unit is successfully performed by the 4G69 S4N Mivec engine, inherited by Hover 5 from the first generation Mitsubishi Outlander. This power plant with a volume of 2.4 liters develops 126 hp of power at 5000 rpm and produces about 205 Nm of torque, consuming an average of 10 liters of gasoline not lower than AI-92. The motor provides a maximum speed of 160 mph.
Diesel at the Great Wall Hover H5 of its own Chinese production (GW 4D20), slightly modified, but adapted to Russia very clumsily. Its maximum power at a nominal volume of 2.0 liters is 143 hp at 4000 rpm, but the peak torque rests at around 310 Nm. Diesel is more economical - 8.4 liters of average consumption, but with inept use of the gas pedal (which happens to most car owners), this figure easily soars up to 10 liters. An SUV with a diesel engine under the hood can accelerate to 170 mph.
Gearboxes: by default, both engines are aggregated with a 6-speed synchronized manual transmission, but for the top-end version with a diesel power plant, an optional Korean 5-speed automatic transmission 5R35 Hyundai Powertech is provided.
We also add that during the current May restyling for the Hover H5, a new gasoline 2-liter turbo unit with a capacity of 190 hp (250 Nm of torque) was prepared, the appearance of which in Russia is not yet expected.

Test drives There have already been a lot of hover in our country, and they all showed one remarkable pattern: in urban conditions, the car behaves uncertainly, strainingly accelerating, overtaking with great difficulty and not demonstrating the necessary maneuverability. But it is worth going off-road and the Great Wall Hover H5 is transformed, once in its element. It is here that the Chinese are ready to compete in terms of cross-country ability with UAZ. But it is precisely to compete, since it is still too early to talk about superiority - the Chinese promises mentioned at the beginning, alas, have not fully come true.

Official dealers included front airbags, height-adjustable seat belts, a spoiler, climate control, an audio system, heated seats, fog lights, heated and electric side mirrors as standard in the Standart package. The price of the basic configuration of the Great Wall Hover H5 of 2013 production starts from 699 thousand rubles. For the version of the Great Wall Hover H5 Luxe, among the additional equipment of which we highlight a rear-view camera, leather interior, DVD multimedia center and parking sensors, dealers ask for 725 thousand rubles. Those who want to buy a diesel version performed by Luxe will have to pay at least 749 thousand rubles, but a modification with a diesel engine and automatic transmission will cost no less than 835 thousand rubles.
Like any other car, the Greatwall Hover H5 SUV has both strengths and weaknesses. Let's name the main ones.
Pros of Hover H 5:

  • good equipment,
  • High seating position for excellent visibility
  • high ground clearance,
  • Affordable price,
