The sedan looks really dignified and makes a better impression than, for example, the competing Mercedes C-class and Audi A4. Looks good X-Type and station wagon. Harmonious lateral lines and a back part have allowed the smallest of predators not to lose the elegance. This was the first Jaguar available as a station wagon.

Engines

In Europe, the most popular was the small Jaguar, equipped with a 2-liter Common Rail turbodiesel. The 130-horsepower turbodiesel accelerates the sedan to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. It boasts not only decent dynamics, but also fuel consumption. In the city, the diesel Jaguar X Type consumes about 7.5 liters of fuel, and on the highway - about 4.5 liters. The Englishman got the motor, like the platform, from Ford. But the power unit has not earned a reputation for success. 3.0 V6 - power, dynamics and consumption!

Among gasoline engines, the 3-liter V6 with 279 hp is especially popular. The motor sounds insanely nice and does a great job with the weight of the Jaguar. It accelerates the sedan to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. The obvious disadvantage is fuel consumption. With dynamic movement, the appetite of the motor exceeds 15 liters. On the highway, you are unlikely to fit in less than 8 liters.

In addition to the 3-liter unit, a 2.5-liter V6 was also used. Both engines are made of aluminum and feature state-of-the-art solutions such as variable valve timing and intake manifold lengths. Motors do not tolerate the introduction of an installation for liquefied gas, and the system itself will be too expensive. V6s don't cause much trouble. Usually there are "little things" like failed ignition coils, various sensors and a thermostat. Since 2003, the 2.1-liter engine, which is a smaller version of the 2.5 V6, has replenished the V6 range.


Suspension

The platform shared with Ford also implies the same suspension scheme. Front - classic McPherson struts, rear - multi-link design. Chassis tuning, combined with precise steering, allows you to drive confidently and with great pleasure. Suspension elements are quite strong. So all the differences from the Mondeo are in favor of the owner: apart from a similar technical stuffing, these half-brothers have nothing more in common.

An elegant suit with a timeless classic cut, a natural wood interior with velor or leather upholstered seats - all these are signs of the breed: despite the status of the youngest in the Jaguar family, the X-type is by no means deprived of premium features. As for the 5-speed gearbox of the Japanese company Jatko, which serves gasoline engines, its possible whims in the form of jolts when changing gears appear already at decent runs. In most cases, such a box can be repaired - which, of course, is much cheaper than buying a new one.

There are no serious reasons to refuse to purchase an all-wheel drive version. Yes, the “razdatka” has its own joint: due to corrosive wear of the output shaft bearing cage, the angular gearbox begins to hum strongly over time. But, again, this disease, if it happens, is only in older cars.

The engine will work properly only with new parts.

Not the best way for the health of catalysts is also affected by frequent short runs, leading to the accumulation of fuel vapors in the cells and contributing to their destruction. In diesel engines, due to poor diesel fuel, it cokes and jams recirculation valve exhaust gases (EGR), and the car stops starting. In the initial stages of the disease, gently tapping on the valve helps to revive the car, but soon the part still has to be changed.

Finally, the turbodiesel that appeared in 2008 needs from time to time - at least once a month - to be allowed thirty minutes to work at full load. This procedure is required for burning-cleaning particulate filter, without which he simply dies. And the new one costs prohibitively - as much as 90 thousand rubles!

The suspension of the youngest Jaguar is very tenacious. With the exception of bushings front and rear stabilizers that can die by 30-40 thousand, all other parts, including shock absorbers, stably nurse more than one hundred thousand.
