How to install a bathroom faucet over siding. The process of installing a faucet in the bathroom. Important points when installing a faucet in the bathroom

The installation of the faucet in the bathroom shown in the video is not particularly difficult, you can do it yourself, but it requires you to follow some simple rules to ensure long-term operation of the device.

Types of bathroom faucets

With all the seeming simplicity of the task, the first step is to understand the terms and definitions.

Reference: A water faucet is a type of shut-off valve, in which the main part, which serves to regulate the flow or stop the supply of water, is a body of rotation in the form of a ball, cone or cylinder, arbitrarily located to the main direction of the water flow.

Valves can be both shut-off, having two working positions closed or open, and regulating, allowing you to smoothly regulate the flow of the passing fluid. Two control valves installed opposite each other can form a simple mixer with mediocre control characteristics.

By design, cranes are:

  • ball;
  • conical;
  • cork.

And according to their purpose, they are divided into:

  • locking;
  • adjusting.

Reference: A faucet is a plumbing fixture that mixes hot and cold water flows and regulates the amount of liquid supplied through the outlet devices. The mixer provides quick switching of flows in the right direction.

Structurally, the mixer consists of two taps combined into a common system with the obligatory presence of a mixing chamber. The mixing chamber is designed for thorough mixing of flows and determines the high-quality operation of the device over the entire range of temperature and volume of flowing water.

There are two main types of mixer designs:

  • With separate taps that have two independent control devices;
  • Single lever, in which the regulating elements are combined with the mixing chamber and are controlled by one handle.
  • Thermostatic faucets that maintain the set temperature at the outlet of the faucet regardless of the hot water temperature and the position of the cold valve.

Crane installation

Sooner or later, even the highest quality faucet requires maintenance or repair. Work is carried out when the water supply is turned off, which requires the installation of a tap in the bathroom, blocking the access of water from the main pipeline. Bends for installation are provided directly on the pipeline, if it is transit, or are its end in the case of a dead-end branch of the main line into the bathroom.

  1. Before putting the faucet in the bathroom, the faucet installed on the line below the installation site is shut off. Also open, if possible, locking devices existing on the highway. This will relieve pressure in the main pipeline and ensure that work can be carried out safely. Collapsible valves or gate valves are often installed on main pipelines, which may require replacement of sealing elements.
  2. Before assembling the faucet in the bathroom, the threaded connections of the faucet parts are sealed.

Tip: It's better to do this with fine-fibre tow, which provides a better seal than PTFE tape.

  1. Before screwing the faucet in the bathroom, it may be necessary to cut or restore the previously cut thread, which, even with minor damage, may not provide the necessary tightness of the connection. This operation is performed using any threading tool. When using plastic pipelines, it is necessary to think about how to fix the faucet in the bathroom so that when it is opened and closed, it does not create destructive moments of forces that lead to depressurization of joints and destruction of lines, because the strength of plastic is also not unlimited.
  2. Mixers with separate control devices include two taps that are installed in the mixing chamber, which is also the mixer body. Therefore, it is imperative to dwell on how to make a faucet in the bathroom, mounted in the faucet body. Having shut off the water supply, it is necessary to use a tool with soft sponges, avoiding excessive efforts, unscrew the tap from the body and carry out repair or maintenance work.

For your information: Sometimes the normal operation of the crane is interfered with by debris that has fallen on the working surfaces, which is present in abundance in our pipelines.

If you want to perform any of the listed operations yourself, you can see a photo on how to install a faucet in the bathroom. They clearly show the tool used or the procedure for performing work. The work is very simple and does not require high qualifications. The only thing to remember is that the pressure in the water supply system is about 6 atm and it is simply impossible to hold such a pressure with your hands, and the temperature of hot water sometimes reaches 50 degrees, and before you connect the tap to the pipeline, you must make sure that the water is reliably shut off.

Installing a faucet in the bathroom

For each specific equipment option, there is a general instruction on how to install a faucet in the bathroom, without taking into account the characteristics of a particular room or existing piping.

Consider the most difficult options for installing a faucet in a bathroom, when you need to replace an old mixing system or transfer equipment on board a modern acrylic bathtub.

Dismantling of the old mixing system

Before the faucet is installed in the bathroom, it is necessary to perform simple work to dismantle the old equipment:

  • Close the hot and cold water taps on the inlet pipeline;
  • Unscrew the union nuts and dismantle the old mixer;
  • Unscrew the regulating eccentrics (if any) and inspect the condition of the pipeline

(very often, steel pipelines are so overgrown with rust and dirt that they cannot provide the necessary throughput, and the ingress of foreign particles into modern mixers with ceramic locking elements can disable them. In case of very poor condition of the pipes, it is better to replace them with new ones);

  • “Drive” the threaded connections and remove the remnants of the sealing material with a metal brush;
  • Measure the center-to-center distance between pipe outlets for the correct selection of the mixer model.

Having completed these works, you can begin installation of the faucet in the bathroom.

Currently, the distribution network presents a huge number of mixers of domestic and foreign production, designed for mounting on vertical or horizontal surfaces, up to embedding acrylic bathtubs of various configurations into wide sides. Vertical installation provides connection of the faucet in the bathroom without altering existing attachment points and is most often used when carrying out cosmetic repairs or forced replacement of equipment. Using horizontal installation, before installing the faucet in the bathroom, it is necessary to perform a number of works to create a horizontal surface or at least transfer existing pipelines, which is only possible with a major renovation of the premises or a complete replacement of equipment.

Purchasing a new faucet

Currently, there are two types of mixers that have a similar appearance, the same mounting options and have almost equal consumer qualities, except for one - durability. High-quality faucets are made of special brass with a high copper content and a very small amount of impurities or high-quality stainless steel with a chromium content of at least 15%. They have a significant weight and a fairly large wall thickness. The only drawback of such equipment is a rather high price.

Lower price faucets are made from an aluminum-silicon alloy called silumin or stainless steel with a chromium content of 10-13%. The main disadvantage of such equipment is insufficient strength and short service life. When using equipment of this price category, the problem arises of how to fix the mixer without breaking the fasteners, which crack with little effort.

Assembling a conventional bathroom faucet

After the mixer connection scheme has been selected and the equipment corresponding to it has been purchased, you can proceed to further work.

  • The box received from the seller will contain a set that includes a mixing chamber, shut-off and control elements, connecting parts, decorative shades, a shower head with a hose and a set of gaskets.
  • Eminent manufacturers must put instructions in the box, which indicate the scope of delivery and the assembly diagram of the mixer. Before assembling a bathroom faucet, it is necessary to study the assembly order, because in complex models, the order in which the components are connected depends on each other.
  • Having carefully installed the gaskets in place, the mixing chamber and the shut-off and control valves are connected. Given that the cartridges in which the ceramic elements are installed are made of special plastic, you should not use excessive force during assembly. With properly mounted parts of the mixer, the necessary tightness is achieved by twisting, as they say, by hand.
  • Then, fixing plugs with union nuts are installed in the body of the mixing chamber, which are used to fasten the mixer to the pipeline.

The assembly of the bathroom faucet at this stage can be considered complete. The shower hose with a watering can is connected after the faucet is installed in place.

Mounting the faucet on a vertical wall

After making sure that the condition of the pipelines allows them to continue their operation, you can install the wall-mounted mixer:

  • Measure the center-to-center distance between the fixing nuts of the mixer;
  • Wrap the supplied eccentrics with tow or FUM tape and screw them into the couplings installed on the pipeline. The location of the eccentrics is chosen so that the center-to-center distance corresponds to the dimensions of the mixer, and the upper parts of the eccentrics are strictly horizontal. The distance from the ends of the eccentrics to the wall must be the same;

Tip: Eccentrics must be selected with the thickest walls. Sometimes cheap faucet models are equipped with thin-walled eccentrics that cannot ensure the correct fit of the sealing rubber and the tightness of the connection.

  • Before screwing the mixer to the eccentrics, decorative caps are installed to hide the exit point of the pipelines from the wall. The caps are screwed onto the threaded part of the eccentrics until they fit snugly against the wall;
  • The connection of the mixer to the pipeline is carried out using union nuts with gaps sealed with gaskets made of rubber or paronite. The nuts are tightened gradually to avoid distortions that lead to a violation of the tightness of the connection;
  • In order for the connection to be sufficiently tight, it is necessary to gradually “reach out” the union nuts with a tool with soft sponges, trying not to damage the decorative coating.

Transferring the crane to a horizontal surface

The need to transfer the faucet to a horizontal surface also arises in the case of using non-standard structures in a room intended for installing a bathroom or when installing a faucet on board a modern acrylic bathtub. Before placing the mixer on the side of the bath, it is necessary to clarify the possibility of such an installation with the seller or on the manufacturer's website so that the bearing capacity of the side can withstand the increased load.

To perform work on mounting the mixer on a horizontal surface, you will definitely need a drill with a set of appropriate cutters, standard wrenches and screwdrivers.

The order of work is somewhat different from installation on a vertical wall:

  • Before drilling holes in the side of the bathtub, it is necessary to perform preliminary marking and, after looking at how the mixer is attached, in the instructions, establish the need for an additional reinforcing plate to unload the weakened part of the side;
  • Specify how to connect the faucet to the piping with the supplied connecting hoses and accessories, taking into account the necessary freedom of movement of the bath after installation to provide access to the equipment;
  • In the case of installing equipment with an automatic thermostat, consider how to adjust the mixer to the desired temperature, as well as the possibility of changing the thermostat parameters after completion of work;
  • Seal the horizontal surface with masking tape to prevent chipping, apply markings and drill the necessary holes for installing equipment. After drilling is completed, remove the adhesive tape and process the edges of the holes with any suitable tool;
  • Using the instructions section on how to fix the faucet in the bathroom, you need to assemble the components in a certain order and fix the mounting elements without the help of keys. If all the elements are assembled correctly, the connecting hoses freely fall into place, it is possible to make the final fixing of the components of the mixer on the base;
  • After installation, it is necessary to perform a hydraulic check of the connections for leaks, and then install the bath in place. In some cases, the question may arise how to connect a faucet in the bathroom, the dimensions of the connecting elements of which do not allow the necessary movements. In this case, instead of selecting non-standard hoses, it is better to lengthen the supply lines. Installation security will only benefit from this.

Conclusion

A modern bathroom is not only beautiful walls and heated floors, but also a complex set of engineering equipment that provides the supply of the required amount of water at a given temperature, and the removal of sewage. An extensive power supply system allows the use of whirlpool baths, small-sized saunas, not to mention a sufficient number of light sources. All this equipment must meet the stringent requirements for operation in wet rooms, be durable and, of course, beautiful. Equipment as simple as a mixer is no exception.

The cost of installing a faucet in the bathroom can vary significantly depending on the degree of "hype" of the performers of the work and the region where they are represented. The quality of work, feedback or recommendations should be taken into account. Using numerous training materials on how to make a faucet in the bathroom with your own hands, you can perform a rather complex set of works without the involvement of third-party specialists with a fairly high quality.

A major bathroom renovation includes the installation of a new faucet. Having figured out how to install a mixer with your own hands, you can save a significant amount on plumbing services. The order will have a number of differences depending on whether you need to install equipment from scratch or replace an old appliance.

Dismantling guide

If plumbing is already installed in your bathroom, before you just purchased it from the store, you will need to get rid of the old device. To do this, turn off the water supply by turning the appropriate valves, and then open the taps to relieve pressure in the pipeline.

Sometimes it happens (especially often in old houses) that the inlet valves rust and do not completely shut off the water supply (it flows in a thin stream or drips). In this case, you will need to do the following: if you are unable to completely shut off the cold water, open any cold water faucet (usually open the faucet that supplies water to the toilet) located below the mixer outlets. As a result, water will go through the bottom tap, and you can safely proceed to dismantle and install the faucet in the bathroom.

If it is not possible to discharge water according to such a scheme, you will have to go to the housing office or another management company and write an application asking you to completely turn off the water risers for the duration of the work. Be prepared for the fact that you will have to pay separately for this service.

Check again for water. If it does not flow, take the key and unscrew the nuts in turn, with which the mixer is attached to the plumbing system. When unscrewing, the key should be turned counterclockwise.

Remove the old mixer and look into the supply pipes. Quite often, an additional filter is installed before entering the tap. After a certain period of operation, this filter becomes contaminated with rust, scale and other elements, which significantly reduces the throughput. Carefully remove all foreign matter.

After that, you can proceed with the installation of new plumbing. However, before you install the mixer, you need to familiarize yourself with a number of rules and requirements. They will help to quickly complete all the necessary work, and the installed product will serve for a long time without failures and complaints.

Theoretical knowledge

In most cases, bathrooms already have an outlet for female end fittings for. In the event that you will be engaged in the supply of highways with your own hands, consider the following important points:

  1. The axis of the inlet fittings for hot and cold water must be installed at a distance of 15 cm from each other.
  2. Hot water is supplied on the left, and cold - on the right.
  3. It is most convenient to use a mixer installed at a height of 15-20 cm from the bathtub and 60-80 from the floor level. Therefore, it is best to be in this position.
  4. Push inlet fittings into the wall. This must be done in such a way that when laying the tiles on the wall, the ends of the fittings are flush with the front side of the ceramic tile. Thanks to this, you can hide the connection points of the plumbing fixture behind decorative cups.

For plumbing, it is best to use plastic pipes. They are cheaper and more practical than steel and cast iron products, and even a person with no experience can handle welding such pipes.

Step-by-step instruction

Prepare mounting tools:

  • gas and adjustable wrenches;
  • FUM tape (can be replaced with ordinary tow or linen thread);
  • a set of hex keys;
  • pliers;
  • Screwdriver Set;
  • wrenches.

Often, when installing inlet fittings, it is almost impossible to maintain a distance between them equal to 150 mm. If you made a small mistake, then it's okay. Especially for this, transitional eccentrics are included with the plumbing fixture.

Take your chosen sealing material and wrap it around the threads of the eccentrics and then screw them into the water line inlet fittings. Rotate the eccentrics to obtain a distance equal to or as close as possible to 150 mm. Check the horizontal position of the installation with a spirit level.

Pre-screw the body of the new faucet and make sure it is level. Check how the union nuts are tightened. They should be quite easy to tighten by hand on the entire thread of the nut. If it is rather tight, you will need to fine-tune by slightly turning the eccentrics to achieve unhindered twisting. After that, you will need to wind the decorative cups that will hide the connection point of your new mixer to the main.

Insert the gaskets and put the body of the product in place. Take the wrench and tighten the fixing nuts. Be sure to place a piece of soft cloth under the jaws of the wrench so as not to spoil the coating of the nuts and the general appearance of the product.

Do not overtighten the nuts. The connection will seal perfectly through the gasket, and there will be no leakage.

Just in case, you can apply pressure to the line and make sure there are no leaks. In case of its presence, it is necessary to additionally tighten the nuts until the leakage is completely eliminated.

Next, you will need to install the gander. Screw on the nut and tighten it with a wrench through a piece of fabric. Insert the gasket and screw the watering can hose to the main body. Insert another gasket, only now to connect the watering can to the hose. Mark the position and attachment points of the watering can holder.

Next, you will need to drill holes for the fasteners and fix the watering can holder bracket to the wall. After that, the process of self-installation of the faucet in the bathroom can be considered complete. Finally, you will need to open the shut-off valves, make sure that the mixer is working properly and check the tightness of the connections.

Installing a faucet in the bathroom: 5 possible problems on the way to achieving the goal

Installing a faucet in the bathroom is not a difficult task, but a very responsible one. And during its implementation, a whole string of various difficult situations can arise. In order for you to understand what you might encounter, as examples, I will acquaint you with the problems that I happened to solve.

Problem number 1: choosing a new device

Before you install a faucet in the bathroom, you need to buy it. It seems to be nothing complicated, but when I came to the plumbing store, I changed my mind about this. I will try to make the task a little easier for you and describe the main criteria that you should pay attention to:

Material

In general, steel, glass, fiberglass, ceramics, plastic and even granite can serve as a material for a faucet. But the most popular are the following two options:

  1. Brass. The brass device has a decent weight and relatively considerable cost, but it has high strength properties and excellent resistance to various types of chemical influences. Having made such an acquisition, you can not be afraid that the thread will crack in the process of tightening the nuts, and the gander will break off as a result of careless handling;
  2. Silumin. It is a very cheap alloy of aluminum and silicon. Models made from it are light and fragile. Such a choice cannot be called reliable; by making it, you may end up not saving, but, on the contrary, getting into even greater costs;

Outwardly, brass and silumin models can be very similar. To distinguish between them, just pick up and try on the weight. The heavy product is brass, the light one is silumin.

Control

Here you also have to make a choice in accordance with your financial capabilities and preferred functionality:

  1. Two valves. Until recently, this tap water mixing system had no competition at all. In it, for each water pressure, its own crane box is provided, with the help of which its intensity is regulated. Replacing such parts in the event of their failure is easily feasible with your own hands. Also, the pluses include lower cost and compliance with the classical style. The downside is the complexity of control, which excludes the possibility of setting a weak flow of the desired temperature and requires the use of two hands;

  1. One lever. Here, the connection of different water flows occurs with the help of a special cartridge, which is easily controlled with a single movement of the hand. It is these models that are by far the most popular due to the optimal balance between ease of use and price. By the way, I also stopped at this option;

If you want to use water more economically, I recommend buying a two-stage model. In it, up to a certain point, until the water pressure is too strong, the lever moves easily, in order to open the tap completely, you will need to make significant efforts.

  1. Thermostatic control. One handle is responsible for the force of pressure, the other for its temperature. Although such a system is not cheap, it completely eliminates the possibility of getting burns, which is of no small importance in the case of children living in the house;

  1. Contactless control. In this case, to turn on the device, you just need to bring your hands to it, after which infrared sensors will do everything necessary. But you should remember about the high cost of such equipment and the need for regular replacement of batteries.

Geometric dimensions

The height can be adjusted during installation if you are doing it from scratch, of course. If there is a replacement, then be guided by the location of the old device. But pay attention to the length of the spout so that the flowing from it water did not beat against the side of the bathroom and at the same time to himself did not interfere with your stay in it.

Problem number 2: the availability of the necessary inventory

For me, this was not really a problem, as I always try to keep my workshop as complete as possible. But I advise everyone else before you install any plumbing fixture with your own hands, and not just a mixer, to check that the following tools and materials are at hand:

Problem #3: Preparing the Installation Site

Now, before you put the faucet in the bathroom, you need to properly prepare a place for it. Two different situations are possible here, together with the difficulties associated with them. I have encountered both at different times, so let's take it all in order:

The presence of an old mixer

How to remove the old device? I did it very simply:

  1. Shut off the supply of cold and hot water in the apartment;
  2. Carefully unscrewed the clamping nuts with an adjustable wrench. At this stage, it is very important to act with extreme caution so as not to damage the fittings, otherwise the amount of repair work will increase significantly in volume;

  1. Cleaned the threads from the remnants of the old winding and paint and the inner part of the connecting elements protruding from the wall.

No pipes

And here, first, you will need to install pipes under the mixer:

  1. From entry point to cold and hot water pipelines punched holes in the wall using a grinder and a puncher;
  2. He ran plastic pipes through them, connecting the desired segments with the help of couplings by soldering. In order to find out at what height to bring them out, I climbed up to read the SNiPs, and it turned out that it was 200 mm above the side of the bath. So I did;

In my case, the creation of strobes took place in an empty room, but if you have all the rest of the plumbing equipment already installed, and you do not plan to take it out, then be sure to cover it with plastic wrap or cloth to protect it from construction debris. In particular, it is important to do this on an acrylic bath in order to avoid scratches on its surface.

  1. I also checked how far the output points should be from each other, this is 150 mm;

  1. Before fixing the fittings, I checked their horizontal with a spirit level. If this moment is missed, the mixer may eventually be installed crookedly;
  2. Since in the future it was planned to clad the walls with tiles, then I removed the edges of the couplings from the strobe by 20 mm so that they end up flush with the finish. You will also be sure to consider the thickness of your finishing material.

Problem number 4: disassembled mixer

The bathroom faucet is sold disassembled and installed assembled. It consists of the following elements:

Element Purpose
Watering can This is a constituent soul, it is with its help that a single stream of water will be transformed into a pleasant rain from many thin streams.
spout He is a gander or spout, directs the mixed liquid into the bath
Hose Another component of the soul, delivering water to the watering can
main unit It is here that the hot liquid is mixed with the cold liquid in the right proportions and the pressure power is set
Decorative shades Close and decorate the connection points of the device to the pipes
Rubber gaskets Responsible for tight connections
eccentrics Allows you to level the position of the mixer if the fittings are installed with errors

I put all the components together, except for the eccentrics, as they are exposed at the time of connection to the fittings. And here, by the way, you should not use FUM tape or other means, rubber gaskets are enough.

Problem #5: Installing

After completing the finishing work, I finally got to the main problem: how to install a faucet in the bathroom into the wall? And now, after overcoming all the above obstacles, he took up its solution:

  1. I wrapped the eccentrics with FUM tape and screwed them into the protruding fittings. Tow is also suitable for sealing the joint. I adjusted the distance between the outlets, which, as I noted above, should be 150 mm, and also set them horizontally using the building level. Do not forget to measure the position of the mounted elements at every step if you do not want to end up with a skewed crane;

  1. Now screwed the whole block. Both nuts were easily threaded, so I took the device back and installed decorative lights. If you have any difficulties, the locking elements will go tight, then go back to adjusting the eccentrics, otherwise the threaded connection may be damaged;

  1. Before connecting the block completely, I wound the FUM tape onto the thread, after which it was already to the end completed its installation, securely tightening the clamping nuts with a wrench to a characteristic squeak. You should not overtighten too much, as this can break the nuts, handle the tool more carefully, especially when it comes to a silumin product;

  1. Turned on the water and checked the operation of the device. If the mixing of water occurs normally, and there are no leaks, then you can consider the installation on the polypropylene pipes of the mixer successfully completed.

And how to install a mortise mixer? In this case, you will also need a drill with a special milling head in the form of a crown:

  1. Choose the most appropriate place for a tap on the side of the bathtub and apply the appropriate markup there, taking into account the dimensions of the purchased plumbing fixture;
  2. Insert the drill bit into the drill and drill a hole according to the marked marks;

  1. Under mixer insert a special gasket, which is included with it;
  2. Install the mixer into the created hole and fix it from below with a fixing nut, which should then be tightened more tightly with an adjustable wrench. In some models, the fixing function is performed by a hairpin;
  3. Connect flexible hoses connecting the device with water pipes;

  1. Turn on the water and check the system.

Installing a mortise model is similar to installing a faucet on a sink, only it also requires drilling the side of the bathtub.

Conclusion

All the problems that arise when installing a faucet in the bathroom are easily solved with the right approach. They chose the right fixture, prepared the tools, laid the pipes or removed the old faucet, assembled a new one and connected it to the fittings or the edge of the tub. Everything, you can safely enjoy the benefits of modern civilization.

There are 2 options for installing a faucet in the bathroom - you can pay a small amount and hire a good master or do it yourself. After reading the article, you will learn not only how to install a faucet in the bathroom on the wall, but also learn how to do it correctly, taking into account all the nuances and subtleties.

Choosing a new faucet in the bath

To replace the old faucet, you need to buy a new faucet.

Parameters by which mixers should be evaluated:

  • Weight. The quality of the mixer is indicated by its mass. A good faucet cannot be too light. Long-term service is determined by the thickness of the material. Weight is the key to metal.
  • Manufacturing material. Cranes are made of 2 materials: brass or silumin. Silumin faucets are much cheaper than brass ones. However, silumin metal is not durable. In such mixers, clamping nuts often burst or handles break off. Their only advantage is their low price.

Brass taps have a large mass with an increased viscosity of the alloy. Due to the viscosity of the alloy, clamping nuts with pipes do not burst from minor deformations that cannot be avoided when using a crane. Brass alloy faucets have an impressive appearance and do not corrode.

Dismantling the old mixer

Only after you purchase a new faucet, you can start connecting. The process begins with the dismantling of the old.

The process is carried out as follows:

  • First, the water supply to the bathroom is shut off.
  • The rest of the water comes down from the faucet.
  • An adjustable wrench is taken and carefully, so as not to damage the thread on the fitting on the wall, we unscrew the connection of the mixer with the water supply.
  • The thread of the fitting should be cleaned of winding residues.

Before starting the installation of a new crane, it should be assembled.

Since the cranes are sold unassembled, when buying a product, you must carefully check the complete set of parts:

  • decorative plafonds;
  • gaskets;
  • eccentrics;
  • shower head;
  • shower hose;
  • gander;
  • main block.

You can check the completeness in the instructions that came with the mixer. All parts must be packaged and be in fabric or plastic bags.

Be sure to check the integrity of the threads on all nuts and eccentrics.

Installing a faucet in the bathroom on the wall: the sequence of work

For ease of perception of information on installing a faucet in the bathroom, the process is presented in the form of step-by-step instructions:

  • There are 2 outlets of water pipes on the wall, which end with an internal thread. In rare cases, they may end not with an internal, but with an external thread. The first thing to do in this case is to install special couplings (adapters). They are installed quite simply - they are wound on the outer thread of the tow, and then the coupling is screwed on and tightened with an adjustable wrench.
  • Having equipped the outlet pipes with an internal thread, you can proceed with the installation of the mixer. After unpacking the box with the product, you will find a small bag with 2 shiny cups, from which we take out 2 eccentrics. They can be recognized by the carving - on one side there is an inscription 3/4, and on the other - 1/2. At this stage of work, we need a thread of a smaller diameter. We tightly wrap tow on it. The eccentric must be held by the thread of a larger diameter in the left hand, we wind the tow clockwise. We screw both eccentrics so that they look up with bends.
  • Now we get the mixer itself. Installation of the mixer at this stage of work requires adjusting the eccentrics to the center-to-center distance of the mixer itself. It is very easy to do this. First you need to screw one union nut of the mixer onto the eccentric. After you have screwed on 1 nut, see how the second nut fits on the second eccentric. In case of discrepancies, an open-end wrench is taken and the eccentric is carefully scrolled until the required position is reached.
  • Having achieved the desired result, the mixer is removed and decorative cups are screwed onto the eccentrics. At this stage, problems should not arise.
  • We mount the mixer using sealing gaskets - no FUM tapes, tow and other sealants need to be wound on the thread. With correctly fitted eccentrics under the mixer nuts, there will be no leakage, even with the nuts twisted by hand.

The nuts must not be tightened with a wrench - after clamping by hand, it is enough to make half a turn with the wrench. Too much effort can result in cracked nuts and cut linings. In both cases, leaks are likely to occur.

  • If you did not assemble the faucet before installation, do it now. The key should only be used when absolutely necessary.
  • Open the main valve. Check the operation of the mixer.

Installing a faucet on a new bathroom wall

Now consider the question of how to install a bathroom faucet on a new wall, taking into account all the subtleties.

To display fittings for installing a mixer, you should calculate the following parameters:

  • The distance between the fittings should be approximately 150 mm. At the same time, they must be located strictly parallel.

  • After laying ceramic tiles, the end point of the fitting must be flush with the wall.
  • The fittings must be level and at a height acceptable for the installation of the mixer. The side of the bath can be taken as a guide.

The fittings should be soldered after the plumbing pipes have branched, when the plaster beacons are set or when the crate is installed.
