6) Dry the eggs well. To do this, you can use a hot rack.

When the entire egg is covered with pieces of napkins with a pattern, let it dry for a few minutes, and then apply a transparent or colored paste with a brush using neat strokes.

How to decoupage Easter eggs with napkins

And at this moment you need to be very careful, since the eggs will instantly become slippery, and it won’t cost anything to break them. This fragment is glued to the top with protein, or rather, covered. The adhesive mass is applied from the middle of the napkin to the edges. When one fragment is glued, move on to the next. Make sure that there are no air bubbles under the napkin. When you study the following elements, try not to touch the previous ones.
Decoupage Easter eggs: master class based on paste
For this method, you still need white boiled eggs, scissors, napkins, brushes and a paste made from flour or starch. You can cook the paste like this: mix half a teaspoon of starch or flour in two tablespoons cold water, and then pour into a saucepan with half a glass of already boiling water. This mixture needs to be brought to a boil, stirring. Then remove from heat and cool.
How to decoupage eggs with paste:
- The egg has a difficult shape for decoration, so the napkin needs to be cut out with darts;

You can use regular napkins, but they are rougher and thicker. And in the case of them, it is necessary to choose a smaller pattern. Since the egg is oval in shape, a large, thick design will lie on its surface with folds. Then, a thin layer from a three-layer napkin will be distributed much better.
I use just these napkins, and first I separate the very top layer. She didn’t say yet that we need them with a small pattern. Well, not only, of course, with small ones, but very large flowers and landscapes are not suitable for in this case. I have two napkins: one has a lot of small flowers and leaves, the second has both large and small decorative elements. We will use both.
3. Our task is to prepare the elements. I saw in the description where they suggest cutting them small nail scissors. But I prefer to tear off the details. When you do exactly this, then when decoupaging on the white egg you can’t see the joints. And it turns out that the drawing seems to be drawn on the shell.
In this case, it is not clear how this is even possible. Was the egg painted, or was it some kind of photo print, or something else?!
And just tearing off the parts is the longest procedure. Especially if you decide to decorate with small elements. They need to be torn off in such a way that a white edge remains, approximately 0.2 - 0.3 cm. This will make the transition from the pattern to the shell invisible.
I advise you to immediately lay out the parts in accordance with how you will apply them. That is, approximately imagining how this or that Easter egg will be decorated.
4. We will also need protein. To do this, simply separate it from the yolk and that’s it. There is no need to beat or stir it. In this case, it will begin to bubble, and the bubbles will be visible on the surface of the workpiece, and this is exactly what we do not need.
Protein is an excellent natural adhesive. Since we will use eggs decorated using the decoupage method for food, no other glue or varnish of chemical origin should be used in this case.
But if you are suddenly categorically against protein, then there is another way. You can dilute the starch thickly and glue it on. Or you can also use gelatin with sugar. To do this, gelatin is poured with sweet water and kept for a certain time. Then filter through cheesecloth and heat to a liquid state.
5. And now that everything is ready, the fun begins. We will create paintings. You can make them the same, or you can create them every time different pattern. When you place them in your Easter basket, they will look absolutely gorgeous! And in any of the options you choose.
6. And so, how will we create paintings and pictures on the shell. Very simple. We apply the selected part to one of the sides and apply egg white to its surface with a brush. At the same time, we capture the edge and the space behind the edge. This is one way. There is also a second one:
- Coat the desired area with protein, then place the selected part on it, and again apply a protein layer on top.
Personally, I think this method is not necessary. One layer is enough. The napkin is so thin that the protein will soak through it. In addition, when there is too much protein, the surface of the egg becomes slippery and it becomes difficult to work with. Especially when there are a lot of details.
By the way, you don't have to use a brush at all. You can apply the protein with your finger. So, if there is no brush, then there is a very real way out.
7. Decorate all prepared eggs in this manner. Then give them the opportunity to dry a little.
8. Then pour a little oil into a bowl, moisten a cotton pad and lubricate the shell with the applied pattern.
Do not use a lot of oil, just a little is enough. Then let the surface dry again and place it on a dish or in a basket.

We will need:
- foam blank
- PVA glue
- acrylic paint
- acrylic varnish

Manufacturing:
If we could stick only part of a design on a boiled egg, then this will not work with our blank. Its surface is porous, and if you leave empty, untreated areas, the overall picture will look unfinished. That's why we prepared acrylic paint.
There are two options for using it:
- The surface of the workpiece is completely primed with paint. And then the desired pattern is subsequently applied using separate fragments of the napkin. This method is used when the elements of the picture are small, or only one large fragment.
- First the fragments are glued, and then free places are painted over. This method can be used when napkins are glued along the entire central perimeter of the egg. In this case, paint is applied only to the polar areas.
I prefer the first method. In this case, the surface is smoother and more even. Especially if used White color. Any fragment fits perfectly on it. And even if later you need to add another color that matches the pattern, it will fit perfectly on white.
And this is how to do everything.
1. Prime the surface of the egg with white acrylic paint. Give it a chance to dry. You can simply paint it with a brush, or you can do it with a dishwashing sponge. In this case, the coating will turn out to be slightly foamed.
2. Meanwhile, tear off the desired fragment from the napkin. Let me remind you that it is better to take three-layer ones, and we will only need the third layer with the pattern applied to it. It is very thin and due to the fact that we do not cut out the fragment, but tear it off along the contour, the seam will not be visible at all.
As I already said in the first description, it is necessary to tear off the part, leaving 0.3 - 0.4 cm of a white contour strip.
3. When the paint dries, place the torn fragment in the desired place and apply PVA glue directly on top of it. To do this, you can use a brush, but some people like to apply it directly with their finger. Which is quite consistent with the well-known combination “hand made”.
Then wait again for the glue to dry.
4. Apply varnish on top.
In the second use case, the scheme is slightly different.
1. First, glue the torn fragment using PVA glue. Then apply paint of a contrasting color to the free spaces. If necessary, paint additional elements with this or another paint.
2. And after drying, apply varnish. Spray varnish is especially suitable for these purposes.
To decorate the workpiece and draw on it, in bottom part you can insert a skewer and hold the workpiece on it to draw and paint.
You can decorate with two types of different napkins at once. Use one as a background and the other as a picture. In this case, it is not necessary to apply a primer. Especially if the first layer is quite colorful.
Or you can prime in two layers using the same sponge. First use white, then pink. Then move on to decoupage with napkins. And if desired, also to voluminous jewelry.
And of course, in such creativity there are simply no limits to imagination. When you have general knowledge of how to do this, you can create real masterpieces.
Master class on decorating techniques with napkins for a wooden Easter egg
By and large, there are no special differences from working with foam blanks. But let's briefly dwell on this topic.
As a rule, the wooden workpiece should also be treated with an acrylic primer. It itself has a textured surface with appropriate coloring. And if light elements are used for decoration, then it will shine through a thin napkin.
In addition, the surface of the wooden workpiece is very smooth, and parts will slide off it. And when primed, the surface will become more convenient to work with.
You can prime with a regular brush, or you can use a dishwashing sponge. If you apply a primer with its help, the surface will turn out to be embossed.
However, the surface is not always polished. In this case, you will need to do it yourself. You can use for this sandpaper"zero".
Separate the desired fragment from the napkin. If it is very large, then it is better to divide it into several parts. Then glue them one by one. If you leave the part large, then it may not lie quite neatly on the convex surface of the workpiece, and folds, creases and irregularities may appear on it, which will affect the appearance.
You can glue the fragments using PVA glue or special glue for blending. It can be applied with a brush or finger to a fragment placed in the right place. After applying the glue, it must be allowed to dry completely.
And then apply acrylic varnish to the drawing.

You can also decorate the embossed paths in a contrasting color.
